Some folks watch NASCAR to see the cars go fast, or for the tail-gating barbecue, or for the beer, but some of them go to see the cars CRASH and maybe watch a driver DIE.   Who is who with Voldemort?   Once again, this irrelevant non-entity goes and does something between righteous, stupid, sinister and evil -- and good men and women who normally get along quite well start writing volumes and volumes of soap-box rants about how this is good and this is bad and he has rights and law enforcement has responsibilities and for what?   I'm beginning to think some of us, maybe even me, might just be taking another bite of pulled pork and swigging a Budweiser and waiting for the fatal crash on the third turn.   When is Voldemort going to finally do something legal but stupid, perhaps innocent but looking guilty, treading the line, treading the line, goading the police, and finally, JUST GET SHOT TO DEATH.   It's not even like we're watching our favorite highly-skilled driver doing more than 200 miles an hour on the track, skillfully weaving and dodging amongst the other cars -- it's like watching your drunk stupid fat uncle in his old Buick clown-car doing 85 with a beer on the center console waving a pistol out the window endangering all the bystanders and the three cop cars that are forced to follow him.   Just get to the shoot-out where he dies in the middle of the street from three bullet holes in the forehead,with a stupid but surprised look on his face and his pants full of crap.   I'll change the channel to the Simpsons when his picture shows up on TV and I'll put his newspaper obituary on the bottom of the parakeet's cage,

Hasan has declared he is an illegal enemy combatant and was so while wearing the uniform of the United States Army.   Beyond being a terrorist, he is therefore also an enemy spy, and subject to being summarily executed on the battlefield.   These statements have come out of his own mouth.   Whether or not the United States is at war with islam, Hasan has declared that he and his radical islam are at war with the United States.   Shoot him on the spot.   Better yet, hang him, a coward´s death, and deny him his paradise.   IMO.

Accused Fort Hood shooter releases statement to Fox News     EXCLUSIVE: Acting as his own attorney, accused Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Hasan has released a statement to Fox News claiming that the U.S. military is at war with his religion.   However, he does not directly address the shooting at the Texas Army Base in November 2009 that killed 13 and injured more than 30 others.   “My complicity was on behalf of a government that openly acknowledges that it would hate for the law of Almighty Allah to be the supreme law of the land," the 42-year-old Army psychiatrist said. Hasan then apparently asked if this was a war on Islam. "You bet it is," he said. "I participated in it.”   The statement, which begins “In the name of Almighty Allah, the most gracious and the most merciful, my name is Nidal Hasan, Major Nidal Hasan, and I would like to convey a message to the world,” runs more than six pages.    Hasan also says he regrets his years in the Army, claiming that his service was inconsistent with his religious beliefs.  â€œI would like to begin by repenting to Almighty Allah and apologize to the (Mujahideen), the believers, and the innocent.  I ask for their forgiveness and their prayers.   I ask for their forgiveness for participating in the illegal and immoral aggression against Muslims, their religion and their lands,” he said.   Hasan also criticized U.S. policy in the Middle East toward the Palestinians.   While Hasan’s motivation for releasing the statement is unknown, Fox News has repeatedly requested an interview with him, with a specific focus on his alleged actions at the Fort Hood Readiness Center on Nov. 5, 2009.   It is believed to be the first lengthy statement by the Fort Hood suspect, whose court martial begins August 6. The judge in Hasan’s case recently ruled that he cannot argue as part of his defense that the shooting was an effort to protect Taliban leaders in Afghanistan – the so-called “defense of others” strategy.   George Stratton and his son -- who was wounded in the attack -- will both testify at the trial.  Stratton told Fox News he is not surprised by the statement.     â€œI have all along believed Nidal Hasan to be a Muslim terrorist, so it confirms what I’ve always thought,” Stratton said. â€œI believe that’s exactly how he felt when he did what he did. We should take him at his word.”   Lawyer Neal Sher, who represents Fort Hood shooting victims and their families in a separate legal action, said “This is yet further confirmation of a fact that everyone knows except our government. That is, the Fort Hood shooting was a terrorist jihadi attack.”   If convicted, on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder, Hasan faces execution or life in prison without parole.   An extended examination of his statement, and reaction to it, will be part of an upcoming Fox News special investigation scheduled to air in early August. Ohio Group Raises $12K To Buy Zimmerman Guns   REGINA GARCIA CANO    July 26, 2013, 2:11 PM   COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio firearms group has raised more than $12,000 to be spent on guns or a security system for George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted in the fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida. But the money could end up being used to pay for Zimmerman’s defense costs and fees.   The $12,150.37 check that the group wrote to Zimmerman is the result of a fundraising effort that was launched because the group believes Zimmerman’s gun rights are being violated by the U.S. Department of Justice. The department has taken all the evidence from the trial, including the gun that killed Martin, as part of a civil rights investigation.   Zimmerman was acquitted earlier this month of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the 2012 shooting of Martin in a gated community in Sanford, Fla., near Orlando. Zimmerman, 29, told police he shot Martin, 17, after the black teenager physically attacked him; Martin’s family and supporters say Zimmerman, who identifies himself as Hispanic, racially profiled Martin as a potential criminal and wrongly followed him.   The verdict sparked protests and calls for federal officials to charge Zimmerman with violating Martin’s civil rights. Zimmerman’s brother and one of his attorneys have said he receives threats and is concerned about his safety.   The Buckeye Firearms Foundation’s check is meant to be spent on guns, ammunition, protective gear or a security system, said Ken Hanson, the group’s legal chairman.   “The Department of Justice refused to return him his gun, and he’s in need of protection,” Hanson said. “The money is intended to be used for anything he needs to defend himself or his family. He has complete discretion on how to use the money.”   The cashier’s check was sent through certified mail and was scheduled to be delivered Friday.   Zimmerman’s spokesman, Shawn Vincent, said before his acquittal all donations he received were deposited into a fund dedicated to pay for his legal defense costs and fees and managed by an independent administrator. He said the Ohio foundation’s check could be allocated similarly.   Vincent would not say what the donations to the fund have amounted to. But he said they have exceeded the $120,000 that Zimmerman’s attorneys had said was needed to put on a good defense before the trial started in May. The fund had raised almost $315,000 in January.   The Ohio foundation’s fundraiser, which began last week, ended Tuesday. Hanson said donations were sent from 48 states and three other countries. The "Stand Your Ground" law in Florida had no role in the Zimmerman/Martin case. The arguments did not apply as soon as Martin attacked Zimmerman, as so many folks on this forum know and the TN Black Caucus apparently does not know. It was argued as a pure case of self-defense.   Zimmerman had no duty to retreat, but it doesn't apply in this case as Zimmerman could not retreat when he was lying on his back in the grass with his head on the sidewalk being  bashed by Martin.   I wish there was someone who could pull the Tennessee Black Caucus to one side and quietly explain this little fact to them. I'd like to think that they are smart enough to know this, and just are choosing to demagogue it for their constituents and for the newspapers & television cameras.

TN black caucus calls for review of 'Stand Your Ground' law   By Chas Sisk   Black lawmakers called Wednesday for a review of Tennessee’s self-defense statute following last week’s verdict in the Trayvon Martin case.   The Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators said the state’s “Stand Your Ground” provisions should be reconsidered to prevent cases like the Martin shooting from taking place in Tennessee. The group suggested that portions of the self-defense statute should be repealed or replaced in the interest of public safety.   “No child should ever have to be afraid to walk peacefully down the sidewalk without being attacked because of the way they dress or the color of their skin,” state Rep. Larry Miller, a Memphis Democrat and the caucus’ chairman, said in a press release. “The unfortunate death of Trayvon Martin will not go in vain; we must turn a wrong into a right.”   Tennessee self-defense law says explicitly that people have “no duty to retreat” before using force if they have a reasonable belief they face death or serious injury. Similar laws have been passed in 20 other states, including Florida, where a jury on Saturday found George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, not guilty of second-degree murder or manslaughter for the fatal shooting of the 17-year-old Martin during an altercation last year.   According to testimony in the heavily-covered trial, Zimmerman tracked Martin as he walked through a residential neighborhood after buying snacks from a nearby convenience store. Martin was unarmed, but defense attorneys argued successfully that Zimmerman had reason to fear for his life during the fight.   The black caucus’ 17 members said they were disappointed in the verdict.   Some of the folks at this forum and others send significant money to the George Zimmerman Defense Fund; I will tell you that I think the Defense Teams' performance in the trial was worth every bit of the funds expended and made for an extremely pop-corn worthy production. How could the Offense put on a decent Soviet Show Trial without a passably effective Defense?   An under-funded George Zimmerman Defense David fought against a bloated, corrupt Offense Goliath, and the offensive Goliath got a rock to the forehead. It's enough to make you read and believe in The Bible once again.   Helping make that happen is enough of a quiet riot for honorable people.   There is a quote making the rounds on the internet that's appropriate here:   "The Truth Is Like A Lion. You Do Not Have To Defend It. Let It Loose. It Will Defend Itself." -- St Augustine.

I liked the high quality of Andrew's posts and felt I and others on this board got much more value out of his posts than the cost of a benefactor's status. I'm thinking we were all non-cash-compensated for Andrew's knowledge. I certainly don't feel cheated and I hold Benefactor Status. As I don't have to pay the (significant) bills for this forum, as I am not a moderator, and as I am not TGO David, I leave it in TGO David's capable hands to make judgement calls on this (non-) issue. If TGO David wanted to pull Andrew's plug and send him down the drain, I imagine he had every opportunity to do so. And he did not. Sometimes no action is an action.   Oh, and have a nice day!

It is a crime, very nearly equivalent to shooting an officer, to shoot a police dog.   If such a high value can be placed on a police dog, which has had time and attention expended for it, why not the equivalent for a family pet, to which a family has expended time and attention?

  I expect George Zimmerman's stated desire to become a lawyer and then a prosecutor to defend people in circumstances similar to his will be steps along the path to Justice for Zimmerman and all the Zimmermans out there.   I expect George Zimmerman's lawyers, starting with the NBC lawsuit, will begin to claw back some justice for George Zimmerman and help provide him the revenue he needs to gradually claw back some of his life. You can be sure this experience has toughened him up. The thing that does not kill you only makes you strong.   Under the circumstances, George Zimmerman and his lawyers could become wealthy. Some careers are triggered by tragedy. I think of Adam Walsh's kidnapping and murder and his father's "America's Most Wanted" television show.   Some good can and will still come of this.

NOT GUILTY.   George Zimmerman is a free man.   God help him in his life, he'll need it.

Regarding the efficacy of checkpoints, I imagine they vary.   Regarding this particular checkpoint, here are the results from the THP via the Daily News Journal:   » 250 vehicles passed through the checkpoint   » 20 vehicles were detained that required further investigation   » Three vehicles were searched   » One misdemeanor arrest was made   » 32 citations were issued: Two child restraint device citations, one DUI, 10 citations for violations of the registration law, four citations for violation of the light law, one revoked/suspended driver’s license, six financial responsibility (no insurance), six other driver’s license law violations, and two safety belt law violations.   http://www.dnj.com/article/20130710/NEWS/307100025/Checkpoint-results-released-by-THP     The conduct of a checkpoint is interesting to watch. The LEOs publicize in advance the locations of checkpoints in newspapers, radio and television. Suprisingly, they are not on the main roads of travel. They generally last two hours or so. They'll find a four lane segment of road that has no immediate turn-offs from it for a distance before the checkpoint (so people can't just make a u-turn). Then, they close one lane to traffic in each direction, and park their cruisers, four or five or six of them, in the right hand lane, with plenty of distance between the cruisers for stopped cars to pull over for further investigation.   Officers direct the oncoming traffic down to the single lane. Then, other officers line up, upstream from their own cruiser and a certain distance apart. The first officer in line directs the incoming traffic to stop at the farthest forward officer, so four or five or six cars get stopped at one time. The total elapsed time for a single car going through the checkpoint is maybe a minute or so. A minute or so. Depending on traffic flow, if you can readily get to your license, registration and insurance, you are not delayed by the other cars at all and you burn less than two minutes, shorter than a lot of traffic lights.   If there is a problem with the stop, the officer directs the car to the side of the road in front of his or her cruiser for further investigation. That means a stopped car does not stop all the cars behind it. Even to resolve a problem, it's only a few minutes, maybe five to fifteen minutes. The child-adult with the mouth was detained for less than 27 minutes and he was making life difficult for himself with his noncompliance. If he would have just demonstrated compliance with the officers commands, he would have been delayed for two minutes tops and the whole marijuana residue in the car would have never even come up.   Two minutes at the side of the road for a DUI Checkpoint is such a low burden, that the prohibition by the constitution regarding "unreasonable searches and seizures" never even kicks in. It's considered a "reasonable" search from a minimized cost / maximized benefit perspective.

After the verdict, I imagine the six jury-women will be OUTRAGED to discover that Saint Trayvon of Skittles' THUG history has been withheld from them.

This is not a drill.   I've already clearly communicated to my beautiful and petite spouse that she will not be going to Walmart without a bodyguard (me) for the run-up to and aftermath of the Zimmerman verdict.   These circumstances have already extracted a renewed promise from her to acquire her Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit so she can carry her own weapon legally. (!!)   If you have an umbrella near at hand, it probably won't rain that day.

From a different post:   Listen. Listen to the ENTIRE dash-cam video. All will become clear. It is a good use of a half hour of your life.   Silly little child-punk boldly asserting his rights, barracks-lawyering the law to a law enforcement officer, while his conduct demonstrates that he's hiding something. It just so happens that he's hiding a video camera instead of contraband.   It is clear that this is not the first little snot-nosed punk willing to go head to head with this deputy at the side of the road, always a losing proposition. A lesson, don't spend a lot of time and effort arguing with a law enforcement officer at the side of the road -- save it for the judge in the courtroom, if it comes to that.   Another lesson: don't buy a used vehicle and then neglect to clean the interior of marijuana residue and beer-bottle caps from the previous owner for over a year.
