When we did this years ago we did this in almost this order. And this is all in my own opion and personal experience so others may correct me. Shop around for what you want and what fits good to you and your wife. Do your research once you have found what you might think fits good as in other reviews of it reliabilty. Try to stick to name brands and if it seems like its really cheap it might just be so and for the most part you get what you pay for in a product. Also consider Where & How your going to conceal. Also think about you level of comfort when you carry. I carry large but thats only because that is what feels good to me. Try to find a range that has that weapon for rental. Now in my opion and others my say different, range guns will give you an idea. But some of them may be close to worn out but at least you will get some idea if you will care to shoot it to practice with. When looking for a hand gun think of things like are you willing to put in the training to carry something like a 1911 or sig 238 that you carry cocked and locked in single action that you are confident enough to be able to swipe that saftey off and get target aquired and make the shot? For some it comes natural for me it just never was meant to be. But we are going to train with a 238 now that my wife really wants one! Also think of other things like extra ammo. If carry revolver will you carry speed loaders or possible moon clips? If you carry a semi will you carry an extra magazine? Some will say that like with the hi cap XD that what is loaded is enough. That may be correct but I used to always carry a back up in case of magazine failure. On that note also think about if you and your wife want to have to have ammo in different cal on hand. Such as if yours is a 9mm and hers is a 380 having to have enough ammo of each on hand. But that is not to say that you will both feel comfortable with the same exact weapon. There will come a time when you have aquired so many different weapons that keeping the same ammo just doesnt isnt an option any more. But for starters it might be nice. Also consider buying USED from a reputable member on here if you find something that works. I am sure if I had something I would be glad to take you to the range to try it out! If you choose Guns and Leather(Greenbrier) there is Metalhead on this forum that I am sure he would be glad to offer you over the top customer service! Just shoot him a PM before you go. But there are other shops out there to shop around at D&T by rivergate does a very good job with customer service and has a nice selection of weapons as well as a nice selection of carry purses if your wife choses to have that option. Basspro is a good place to fondle a few but think that they are a little pricey. I sure miss having a Cabellas near by! Reloaders Bench in Mt Juliet is a small but nice to deal with shop. Bellshire Hardware, yes hardware store but has a gun counter. Not a whole lot but the prices were good for what he had and very nice! Above all I have found that if I have a question to just ask on this forum and most will give you a honest in there ownn opion answer. Or be able to back it up with document! Best of luck and welcome to the very addictive world of firearms!

Hey sorry to hear that. We relocated here in June for my wifes company and I had to walk away from my job. I took that first job I could find at a large pay cut. But I have been applying to at least 1 or 2 a week and still not been able to get on at any place else. I would say start hitting the internet and its a #'s game the more you put out the more chances of finding a job. Oh, and I live in Donelson too! And will keep my eyes out for you.

It is a shame that when jobs are so hard to find these days that A$$hats end up with jobs dealing with the general public. I have 3 awards for Service excellence that were awarded to me by then Las Vegas City Mayor Oscar Goodman for outstanding service and nominated by others thru out the Las Vegas area. So, I may be a little picky when it comes to me trying to get service in a retail setting! But I can say I know the difference between someone having a bad day and someone that just doesnt care! Thank you again to Metalhead for his apology and opportunity to visit another location and express my opion.

Ok, as someone pointed out to me that I was making it all about D&T! Please understand. I am in NO way connected or buddies with ANY one at D&T or have ever met any of there staff prior to today! I am in no way trying to single just D&T. I visited Bellshire, and one in Goodletsville where I bought some CLP but cant recall there name. I got fair customer service at both of them.

Yes, the guys at D&T treated me and my wife very good and I will chose them should I need something from a shop! I bet that if I looked like I was from TN and was the "typical" good ole boy. I might have gotten atleast a "Can I help you" from the guy at G&L My problem is that they provided me with poor customer service! Acutally NO customer service! My $$ is no good there and thats fine. I just wanted to state what happened and that there were other shops that understand how to give customer service to others than just the guy that comes in and Bull****s for 2 hours. I worked for Harley for a long time. I understand how it works. We had guys that we would see more than there own families would see them. But that doesnt mean that I would brush off someone who might actually be looking to buy something.

Bestbuy might still be hiring for seasonal help. You can apply on line and dont have to waste any gas untill they interview you! Good luck!

I went around and stopped at gun shops all over Nashville. All were typical. Most nice and helpfull and generally wanting to earn your business. I will say, I do not fit the "look" of a man with a lot of money. With that said we have purchased 3 new guns this last week and we were just out looking what Nashville gun shops had to offer. My last stop was Guns and Leather in Hendersonville. Pretty busy shop. I was waiting for one of the sales person closest to the area that I wanted to look at a gun at to finish up with his chit chat with some other customers. When they walked away I walked up to the counter and before I could even get a word out to ask to see a gun in the case. The sales person little buddy came thru the door and he called him out by name and then the sales person side steps AWAY from us and starts talking shop with him. IGNORING US AND OUR MONEY! Then a smart ass "Have a nice day" as we walked out. So, Guns and Leather will not be getting a single cent from us or any one else that asks about a shop I can refer them to. I will go out of my way to make sure my friends and family NEVER do business with them! I will say Thank you to D&T in Rivergate for letting us take up atleast 30min of there time and still having enough staff on hand to take care of the other customers that walked thru the door.

Hey luke, not to hijack this thread where you located at? I am next to DCA in Donelson Back on topic. We sold our 2003 Excursion Eddie Baure 4x4 with around 230K on a 7.3 that we loved for over $12k The engine was super, but the front end was on its 3rd round and the rear end on its 2nd round. I am on the ford forum also as well as a few other so will keep an eye out. Might be easier if you gave a ball park $ that your looking to get into one. I my self am looking for a 7.3 4x4 ambulance (van body) to do a swap..
