Ron Ramsey on 2013 "Parking Lot" Bill status
Paladin132 replied to Worriedman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Dave I am going to have to remember the way you phrase it as purchasing the right to carry. I think it carries a good way of describing it. I do it, but I disagree with one thing, there is a right - says so in the owners manual for the United States. Right now most states do not recognize that right, but it is there. So in essence states, backed by SCOTUS, are in error according to the Constitution. My argument is a philosophical one, not one advocating not having a permit. I am simply advocating passing laws or repealing laws to get back to where the Constitution says we should be - and amend it if necessary. Obviously I would be against that. I also of course am of the mind leave my car out of a businesses policies. -

John Kerry as the next Secretary of Defense?
Paladin132 replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I uh, I ... Uh... Ok, now that I am out of vapor lock... This seems to me to be a political ploy. See I compromised. Instead of asking the Senate to confirm Al Capone for the AG I backed off to Bernie Madoff. See, I compromise. But the sheer gall... A man who threw his awards over the White House fence should not be considered to lead the military. It is very disappointing. -
gun shop tells Obama voters to ‘turn around and leave’
Paladin132 replied to 45guy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am ambivalent toward the store itself, but a little concerned by the discontent of someone sharing their thoughts publically. Instead, welcome the fact that someone speaks their mind, for it allows you to know where you stand with them. Like it or not, it is not stupid, it is their right. Just as it is a right to think some folks who speak out are nuttier than a fruitcake (comment not specific to this case). -
Seems to me SHTF means being able to eat, and a bow would be a fine tool for that in many cases.

I think I remember this story or one similar to it within the last six months. Is this another one? -

Ok, now I am on a computer and can maybe be a little more complete in my response! Stickj - I am unsure about the property rights laws other than I do know that a business can be public or private. I also know that, as we are all aware I am sure, that there are massive distances between what the law says, how it is enforced, how it is interpreted, and common sense. There are also things that a publicly open business deals with as part of their being public. Let me ask this to everyone though. Is not your car a little silly for an owner to attempt to regulate its make / model / color / contents while on their parking lot through the course of normal operations? How do you post a parking lot off limits? Also, as someone else has stated, why should a person have to leave their property (in this case a legally owned firearm) somewhere other than in their vehicle. To the comment about shouting fire in a crowded theater: that is because of the inherent danger of people then panicking and fleeing a darkened place. To carry that over to a loaded firearm that is being carried but not brandished I think is a problematic comparison. Change it to a firearm in hand and yup, I am right there with you. Someone walks into a theater where I am watching Skyfall (great movie btw) and they are going to cause me some concern and they now interrupt my movie experience as they will have my undivided attention. I am afraid that we are going to continue to see an erosion of our rights due to a couple of things, which is why I posted in this thread. One is the apathy of gun owners. Hunters are a big one here because they are willing to buy into someone saying that they will not infringe on their hunting rights. I sometimes want to shout wake up to those folks, because the people who are saying that are fine with being protected by firearms but do not want you, the common folk, to own, possess, and carry them. Look at England where a couple are awaiting trial for defending themselves with a hunting shotgun from a man that had broken into their home at least once before. I point to Bloomberg and Feinstein. He is protected by a detachment of NYPD and she has a CCL. Secondly we are divided as a group about what our beliefs are. We have trouble articulating ourselves sometimes when we make the arguments for our rights. I believe that we must argue that this is a civil right, ownership and carrying both. Now if a business owner asks me to leave based on it, sure I will cordially leave and probably make a call to the owner as I have in the past informing them that I was turned away from their business by a employee, sign, or what have you based on my exercising my rights. I have taken heat from that by gun owners, and folks that carry a weapon. If one does not exercise their rights they lose them. This is why I advocate going to a strict reading of the constitution as opposed to accepting things as they are. We have a lot of work to do. -

And this we surrender our rights. Am I advocating breaking the law? Absolutely not. Am I advocating adjusting our mindset to push for what we believe? Bet your (insert whatever here). That we do not is how we loose because one fights for what they believe in, not what they would like to have. I just do not see a public business's right trumping my individual right. It is a civil right as defined as being in the constitution. We should work toward recognizing that fact. -

I have been following this for a bit and have decided to add my quarter (penny thought plus inflation). My right to have my tools is a personal right guaranteed in the constitution. A business owners right to deny my rights does not trump my rights. A business owner cannot block a person from entry based on their race or other qualifiers, do why should they be able to block me entry based in my right to bear arms. What's worse is the fight to tell me what is in my car, and why? It is in my car, not yours. Unless it comes out and into play in the commission of a felony what business is it of yours? None in my opinion. Either you support the constitution in its entirety or you don't. Business owners that do not support the second amendment in its entirety receive no sympathy from me when their rights are violated or when they find themselves disarmed and then confronted by those with nefarious intent. The basic concept of the 2A is the ability to have weapons available to citizens to defend themselves. I see now I was rather long winded. I am just tired of folks trying to infringe on my rights, the ones written into the constitution, based on flawed logic that then place me at a disadvantage when my life is at risk. My rights do not trump yours and vice versa. Leave me alone about what is in my pants and I will leave you alone about what is in yours. -
Because of the concept now that presidents get who they want and the senate allows it. They do not hardly even look at people anymore, just look at the folks we had appointed four years ago - a treasury secretary that was so smart Turbo Tax was to complicated for him.

Marine Corps helicopter pilot sues over Wyo. traffic stop
Paladin132 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am concerned that more and more we see officers that would rather treat every citizen as a suspect rather than a fellow citizen. Police are civilians too. They need to realize that just because someone is armed does not equate to reasonable suspicion or probable cause for anything. The fact that the supervisor ordered him released tells me there wasn't anything to it more than likely - officers have a litany of things they can arrest for if they are angry. Some police I think are scared of citizens from the time they go onto the road until they come off. That is unhealthy for them as well as society. -
How many guns before you are hoarding them?

I think you have a problem. You can let me help by giving me say three and half your ammo stockpile. It's for the best. Really. -
Edited. Nevermind.

Outstanding!

Both as I understand it.

I agree that they do have a greater impact, but that impact is still minor because of its similarity with our values as well. The number of mosques increasing by seventy some percent, nearly all being radical I believe is much more invasive. And look at the state of our constitution. Separation of church and state? Invented and not constitutional. The immigration dream act? Executive ordered, also unconstitutional. It means nothing with some folks. I agree financially we are hurting with the immigration issue more than the influx of Islamic believers, but I fear the future holds more pain from the latter than the former.

Lived in Texas for five years. I've also seen the human trafficking case in eastern TN of Hispanic folks. Not saying it isn't a problem, saying its not a threat to the survival of the nation necessarily. When did the Mexicans last launch an attack on us? Some fella names Poncho Villa was quite some time back. We share many cultural and religious norms with the Hispanic community. Besides the numbers I just put out and the indicators we are seeing in our legal system and the cultures of europe... You do not agree that is concerning?
-
I disagree. A study by in 2011 found 50 cases in 23 states citing shariah law as applicable to the case. Further the number of mosques built since 9/11. Overall the number of mosques increased from 1,209 in 2000 to 2,106 in 2010 according to USA Today. Most sources agree that Wahhabi funding from the KSA are behind these mosques so who do you think is choosing the imams and then what do you think they are preaching. Folks the Arab world is so alien to western minds. I have been all over the world and it was the only place I felt culture shock. I am fortunate to count a few Muslims among folks I know and respect but seriously if you are ignoring it you need to look harder. Right now there are no go zones in France where police do not enforce French law. They also said it was not a concern. Islam by itself no, but redial Islam (Wahhabi style as we are seeing branch out) is like letting a church based on the KKK spread around the country. Neither reflect American values or obey American Constitutional protections or American laws.

I saw it and it honestly it made me tear up. Such talent and it is clearly broken on the video. I am not a SC fan, but my heart has been in my throat watching.

Gen. Petraeus is defending the CIA and not Obama
Paladin132 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree about the berets. Conversely I disagree and feel other soldiers needed something to distinguish combat seasoned from unseasoned soldiers. The regs say GOs are not eligible for the award. It came out after he was the CG for the Screaming Eagles. Now don't get me wrong, the man saw close combat and was reported to be involved in a fight when his CP was hit. Either way though, if the award came out after and he was in command of a infantry division, and regs say that generals cannot have it awarded... It reminds me of stories of officers receiving medals in previous wars for silliness. Still, I hope that he does what is right. Which is going to be hard. A serving officer (why wasn't he retired to take the CIA anyway) who has an oath to uphold laws in charge of an agency that breaks laws (that is what espionage is folks) and is loyal to the country must be faced with very difficult choices about what he can and should do. I do not envy the general at all. -

Paladin132 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am not sure about General Petraeus. He wears an award that regs say he shouldn't (the CAB ). It makes me leery. Other than that he appears to be a bright and successful general officer. Is he political? I do not know but after the Rumsfeld era of DoD I worry about the head shed. This should be wall to wall coverage with theme music an would be if it was a republican in office. US soil was violated, US lives were taken, and a US ambassador was brutally murdered. Why haven't we rallied against it? Because we have become a culture that does not think. We accept what the media tells us. We do not weigh common sense into anything anymore. We have a nation of folks that are worried about the next episode of a comedy instead of worry about our survival. We have had it so easy for so long that as a culture people believe that world wary people are alarmists. It is frustrating to me that my nations leaders feel that service is a good gig instead of a calling and that we should cower before oppressive ideologies such as Islamic extremists because of politics. I am just sick. It makes me nearly physically I'll to see what I interpret as lies. We did not have a plan to secure a US compound in a country wracked by civil war? Horse hockey. If we did there are a number of folks that should hear the rouge's march as they are stripped of everything. We didn't have assets in place? Why not? Why didn't the Ambassador have a robust security team? Was it a consulate or a safe house or a intelligence post? Was someone stupid enough to think that with low key security our enemies would not know we were there? Incompetence, ignorance, blind hope, and treason are what I really feel has happened here. Who else has called their representatives and talked to their friends and family about this? If you have not then you are failing in your duty. They may not listen but that is because we have let them off the hook for entirely to long. Do your duty Americans or we will fall from leadership and heaven knows what the world will look like then and the price our nation and our nations children will have to pay for it. -
How can folks say POTUS is winning when he has lied through his teeth? That is not winning. That is a horrible betrayal of his office and his oath. Unfortunately folks will swallow the BS. Multiple nations in chaos because of the Arab spring. Multiple American embassies violated by attackers. Multiple Americans dead in attacks. More deaths in Afghanistan in 3 years than Bush had in 8. Really?

Which is less and less frequent, at least in the circles I travel anymore.
