  1. Doubtful. Yemen is not that friendly an environment, at least not in '00 and '01 and I doubt it has gotten better. Not only that but we are so risk averse that I think it's a good chance we did not.

Make no mistake, it was probably the right call, I just as said, am concerned about the wording that makes me wonder what we really had, and the fact we took out so

    an American.

Regardless of how nasty he was that is a lingering fact. We have strayed to far across the line of what is easy to do in the name of security even though we will never have 100% security. We have to resist that urge else it will one day be abused by some chucklehead.

I also did it funny that the guy is being hailed as being such a kill. From the info available he was a mouth.

  2. Who said anything about President Obama?

I am just saying the guy was a nobody from everything I have seen, and the government is claiming he "inspires" attacks. Does that not sound odd?

Why do we sweat due process for the thugs at Guantanamo, who are hardcore AQ and illegal immigrants, and pirates, but a guy that has been proven to be blowing his mouth and is still a citizen is not even shown evidence of more malicious acts.

Again, I refer all to my statement yeah I am glad he is gone, it just concerns me that we did not go to grab him instead.

Also, I just want to point out I've fought for out rights and I seem to remember the first being free speech, not his but mine, and I feel we are getting a tad to enthusiastic in here for folks with differing opinions.

  3. I was going to keep my mouth closed however I just have to stir the pot a bit...

1st: the baby born on the way to the US was four hours from our airspace and therefor not a citizen by rule, so that may have a bearing on the shoe bomber but the real rule that applies is if we can stand them before a judge (Noriega?).

I have yet to see any evidence that this chucklehead was an active combatant. Why do reports refer to him as "inspiring" attacks instead of planning or executing them? Interesting choice of words. Hollywood could inspire criminal behavior but it would not lead to an arrest.

Once a single branch of government starts doing what it wants it leads the way of bad things and the loss of control of the government, by the people and for the people.

Am I sad he's dead? Nope, just celebrated with a touch of adult libation. Am I worried about what this means with a lack of proof and the odd word choice that sounds like dancing around the issue? Darned tootin'.

Remember him if he is still a citizen if they come for you for speaking out against something. In some countries they come for free speech thinkers in the night, and before you say it won't happen here: you are right as long as we continue to operate as the Constitution dictates.

It is questionable is all I'm sayin'.

  4. Hey, still not as bad as the blue dress incident... I have to agree with David again (twice in the same morning David, do not get used to that!) in that there are much bigger issues to deal with like say the disrespect of the US Constitution.

  5. Pat downs at games! The football frisk!

Now, once again the perception of security is more important than actual security. Football is played in winter, when people wear heavier clothing in layers. Does anyone really think that a stun gun or other weapon can be detected by a person with minimal training searching thousands of people as they come inside?

I just saw this in the news and had to laugh.

  6. Thus may not be the best place for this, but I wanted to post so if a moderator needs to move it, please do so.

Last night two people were victimized on campus through armed robbery. After using an ATM both were attacked by a black male in his 20's. A male and a female were targeted, roughly an hour apart. No word on what kind of weapon was used.

This is not the first time that UT has sent out emails outlining such attacks. The last one involved a male with a firearm near campus and again no one was really hurt, but we all know that is always a possibility when a robbery takes place.

So, once again, sheep are disarmed and wolves still carry their teeth. This frustrates me to no end. I see college campuses constantly tout that free speech and civil rights are so important to a good learning experience and debate, yet not if it is a conservative viewpoint because that would be inflammatory.

I just needed to vent a little about the issue and raise the awareness for those that may have not heard about the incidents.

  7. Glad you are going to enjoy it. For me I will avoid it, along with most things in Knoxville from here on out. I am rather sick of willful ignorance, among other things. I will spend my money outside the city as often as I can I think, as this is another example of that ignorance an the fifty cents I have to spend will buy a pack of gum elsewhere.

I am really frustrated with the atmosphere here as opposed to my home state, I thought things would be much more reasonable here.

  8. Howdy folks,

As some of you know I am from out of TN and have been working part time down here. I recently stumbled across this event (actually my better half, who is a PHD student did) and thought hey, that sounds like fun. Then, being a law abiding citizen couple we checked out the event rules...

No firearms, laser pointers, or weapons of any kind.

    http://www.boomsday.org/event-info/

Just thought I would see what everyone thought of this and pass the word to

    prevent any problems.

  9. Nearly 5k rounds through one and 1k through a second and love them! Had a friend buy one second hand and it was beat to snot. When the safety broke they replaced the whole firearm.

  10. I would guess one of two things, the recoil spring needs replaced, or the weapon is traveling to much when it is fired. I say that because the extractor has been replaced, but the new extractor might be screwed up somehow.

I think I would want it made right by the manufacturer if it is new.

  11. The Maxpedition satchels move to much for a long hike, especially with a backpack on top of it. I guess I could wear it and put the strap around me, but it's overkill and still change the balance.

If I had the money I'd snatch up the safepacker. Anyone know of a good bag for the straps on a rucksack that would be a good recommendation along those lines?

  12. I really have to budget sometime for a good pocket firearm, but as I am able to make what I have work all the time I never have... Besides, in the woods I am not thinking a .380 or the like would be the best of choice given cats, dogs, and even bears which could be in a bad situation. Now, yes I know before someone points out, that .45 ACP and .40 are both not the greatest for a larger animal, but it would be better than the smaller pocket pistol calibers. Either way... I am still trying to figure my way through this situation.

  13. IMO this is tied with the nonsense from the bus in Philadelphia. The man they were after had no business telling another passenger that little away was child abuse. When I was very young my dad spanked me and a woman threatened him with it and i chuckle today about his response - he offered to let them take the spanking for me.

There is a difference in child abuse and a beating compared to a whipping and discipline. Today's children, and yesterday's generation as far as that goes, all have their hands out not asking but demanding things go their way (see London, Greece, and a anti tuition hike in California). Couple that with never being corrected, sometimes with some harsh measures, and you are stuck with generations that are lost and causing huge problems that are getting worse through intervention.

You raise your kids your way, leave me the Hades alone.

  14. I have been carrying a H&K USPC or a 4" 1911 when I carry. I only have one other thing smaller and I shoot it poorly, as well as only having a single holster setup for it.

On top of it I suppose I could use a smaller weapon if I had one, but I would not want to honestly in the woods because of the critters one can run into. At the moment getting another weapon isn't in the budget as my debt limit is quite fixed. Thus I am looking to figure out a good method to use what I have and I'll save a bit to get a new rig or something.

Open carrying is so much more easy but in today's atmosphere I just font want a swat team descending on me at the trailhead.
