You know thats 1.5 years old right?

Hey, C.A. - where did this happen? I ask b/c sometimes apples don't compare to apples. If it was Iraq, that was a different fight. It was more of a mounted, urban fight. Even the dismounted patrols, you weren't far from a PB or vehicles. Here in AFG, the dismounted patrol loads are wildly different. Not even remotely in the same ballpark. Due to job/rank latitude, I'm not even carrying the load these guys have.

I was reading an AAR on Sapper School over on LF. The female honor grad couldn't hump the 240 and it had to be passed off to another soldier. Some people are not allowed to fail. Yay political correctness. You put women and men together and they're going to fuck. Look at all the problems co-ed units have. It's going to be an EO nightmare and will degrade the readiness and morale of the unit. FET's are almost universally worthless. Don't buy the media hype. Listen to the people who have worked with/around them. There might be some that are actually worth a damn but I haven't seen them yet. Standards, which aren't all too terribly high anyways, WILL be dropped. But I don't see how this train is going to be stopped. Its coming. I can't wait to laugh and say I told you so when all the problems crop up. But then again, the people pushing this agenda won't be the ones to pay for it.

Can-compatible muzzle brake

I thought the 90t was vaporware? Interesting. I didn't know they followed through. I thought there was a lot of AAC drama involving the new mount. -
CA. I have zero problems with PSYOP/MISO. The only reason I didn't end up PSYOP is that you guys were in N'ville and you were overstrength in 2011 when I ETS'ed. My experiences with you guys has been positive......I appreciate that you guys seem to maintain a meateater mindset. My guys would rather give out teddybears, US Tax dollars, and cry about having to show up for PT. Daniel, I think you might be thinking of this thread..... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/49501-us-army-training-in-st-louis-city-streets/page-2?hl=

Do you even know what a IDIQ contract is and how it works? Again, it was not an order for 1.6 billion rounds or 2700 MRAPs. The wonderful members of the HoR that voted on that....I bet few have any sort of idea on what they're really voting about. Their aides, maybe.... But I wouldn't put money on it. Kinda like the member of the HoR from NY that voted against "the shoulder thing that goes up." People ask about your back ground bc it helps to know where you're coming from, your knowledge base, experiences, etc. Wiki and Google make too many people internet experts. I'm not saying the Gov't isn't capable of some screwed up things or they always have our best interests at heart. I am saying that relying on discredited information to make your claims is pretty silly. It takes away the validity of your argument. It would be nice if people used some of the same skepticism and asked the same questions of the information they rely on rather than blindly parrot it. Kinda like the people who get their infor from FaceBoom mime's. But whatever, I'm going to step out on this one.

AR15.com has a good painted rifle section, along with LF. Rattlecan your rifle, it is quick, easy, and cheap. Best of all, it is extremely effective. IMO, throwing colored furniture is just for looks - not camoflauge.
-
I'm asserting that it was already proven wrong. But that doesn't matter. All people see is the sensational flash of the headline and that's what sticks. So what was your background again? You never really directly answered.
-
Haha, no that one is totally true Sam. Some random guy on YouTube told me so. Look, I have a healthy fear of the Government too. I am not a fan and in my opinion MORE Gov't is the WRONG answer for this country. They can and will exceed their boundaries and when they do, it is our job to put them back in place. Unfortunately most would rather sit back in front of the TV, eat their fried food, drink their Super Sized Coke, and hold their hand out. THAT is what will end this country, not MRAPs (which hey by the way, if Muhj who live in the 13th Century can catastrophic a truck, think what a 1st world citizen can do). Spouting off every moonbat claim just b/c you don't trust the Gov't lessens your credibility (again, IMO). And for those that aren't military, you might just not get why I have a bone to pick with the CPT. He is deliberately exploiting the subtleties of the system to bring himself in a better light. But I guess that is typical of a CA officer

Anyone else ever botched a sight install?
scoutfsu replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Haha, they are expensive but I think they're well worth it if you're going to standardize into Glocks. Thats pretty much the path I went....got rid of my M&P's, 1911's, etc. It just made sense to spend the money and be able to do the sights right with no aggravation. I picked mine up like new for $65 I think. Pay attention to AR15.com's EE. I've seen them come up from time to time. If you don't need it right this second, I would wait until one comes up. I've used mine waaaaay more than I thought I would when I got it. Really, it's turned into one of the better things I've bought for my Glocks. Whenever I'm back in the States, you're more than free to use it. -

scoutfsu replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Some sights require fitting on Glocks man. Even some sights from the same manufacturer. I haven't done it, yet, but I've heard and read about others doing so. As long as you didn't mash vials or anything, you should be good. I used to do what you do. I was never really happy with getting the rear perfectly aligned so I invested in a used MGW sight tool. One of the better Glock purchases I've made.... ETA: you can use a dremel....but I would try some sand paper next time. Its too easy to lose too much material with a dremel, IMO. -
Hahaha funny enough I took the last one from DHHB today. I'm a sucker for the things. I haven't seen a Cliff Bar in any of the DFACs here. And to clear up a bit about my last post about the CPT for non-military. He may have been in a PRT attached to the 82nd (which he was) but his bio intentionally makes it appear the he was IN the 82nd, if that makes sense. It's a subtle difference that people try to expoloit. He can wear their SSI on his right sleeve but not his left (because he deployed at less than a company level - he can wear the next higher unit's SSI as his "combat patch"). He, like me, deployed with USACAPOC/CACOM. Just because I'm part of JCTF-3 does not mean I am in 3rd Infantry Division. I am ADCON to them....the miserable bastards that they are. FWIW, I think it would be cool if DHS wanted to share some of that ammo with little ol' me....

This bullshit again?????? Here you go: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/62043-dhs-purchases-2700-light-armored-tanks/ and to save you some time (even though he went through and edited his article, the numbers haven't changed): http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/03/robert-farago/the-truth-about-the-dhs-mraps/ Its not 2700 vics. And it's not 1.6 Billion rounds of ammunition. That was cleared up. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/04/26/reps-challenge-dhs-ammo-buys-say-agency-using-1000-more-rounds-per-person-than/ 1.3k-ish per person? I laugh at that. Sounds like a good weekend or a pistol course or two. 350 for the Army? Sounds about right.....and thats fucking embarrassing. The only reason I'm able to shoot as much as I can is that I'm in Afghanistan.....and I'm still having trouble sourcing 9mm. 9mm in Garrison is even worse. Who falls under DHS for this training/duty ammo? CBP, ICE, Air Marshals, USSS, FLETC, Coast Guard, INS, etc. There are a lot of agencies who need to train. Don't cry foul when they ask for ammo . Its also an IDIQ contract, not a purchase order. Also, this "retired" Captain....what's his deal? I would love, love, love to read his OER's. Just reading the last entry on his bio makes me wonder: http://combatsoldier.wordpress.com/about/ He was NOT in the 82nd.

Need some help with glock 19 concealed carry methods
scoutfsu replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This is a great holster: http://www.exoconcealmentproducts.com/Products.htm Sometimes, I'll roll with this too: http://www.ravenconcealment.com/holsters/vanguard-holster-systems/vanguard-2-holster-full-kit -
Why are you riding a slide forward?
-
Honestly? I'd rather just lay in the dirt. I'm not a fan of benches.
-
IMO, its just tougher to do it right on a bench. Some guys use straps or cords to get a better handle on it when shooting in urban/asymmetrical positions. Ideally, when you're set, the rifle isn't going anywhere. I have a problem with the legs sliding off benches.
-
Rather than fumble with words, here is a thread google found: http://www.snipercompany.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=4858 While nothing is indestructable (I broke a leg on my Harris on my 24), you pay for what you get. I would consider a Harris as the minimum. They are all over the used market at reasonable prices (yay GWOT!).

I wonder how many UTG, etc owners here load their bipod?? eta: B/c I agree with you. If you correctly and consitently load your bipod, you're going to snap those cheap bipods.

Just the usual frustrated at the Army rant that comes out once in a while. I wasn't throwing rocks at you.
-
Roger ArmyVet. Thats what I was trying to say...just in a round about, unclear fashion :slap: . The R&G Club isn't even all that great. We would just go shooting in the desert. I liked Dona Ana......but hated McGregor with a passion.
-
Ha, thats just from banging my head against the proverbial wall this past month. I have never in my life seen so many senior slick sleeves....always heard about them but didn't quite believe it. How can you be a CSM (yea you, guy at MATOPS, Ft Dix) and never left the country!! How do you look your soldiers with, 1,2,3,4+ year long deployments in the eyes and preach Army? Definitely a little embittering.......but thats ok, the hate should last me through this tour. Then we can wash, rinse, repeat. :)

MacGregor is where they MOB people. Bliss's Rod and Gun Club allow POWs but it is not the same place.....or the same state. This was an issue weapon, hence the full PPE being pushed.
