  1. Here's a question though.... Since it's not transfered yet, even though the OP bought and paid for it, it is still property of the dealer, right? Lets say that the dealer sends it back to the maker and it takes a bit to refurb it. In that time, the transfer goes through. Would the maker send it back to the guy or the dealer? I would think the guy since he's now the out and out owner of it.....but he'd have to contact them and show them a copy of the F4?? If you completely pay for a can, not a partial, but it's still in the dealer's possession/on his books due to pending NFA.....who does it belong to? I know he can't transfer it w/out an approved form but who does it legally belong to?
  2. He should be able to tell if it has been fired a lot. I'm thinking not......just that the dealer thought it would be cool to go pop some rounds off. While that is extremely uncool and unethical, I don't think he shortened the life span of the can significantly. Not enough to justify the time that it's going to take getting it there and back. From what I've read, it usually takes 2ish months for a warranty round trip. Since he's about to get his stamp, I wouldn't wait any longer. A baffle strike and I would flip my sh*t and demand that he makes it right somehow, someway. At the very least, this had better be a free transfer.
  3. If it's going back to the manufacturer for warranty work, I don't think a transfer is involved. Since it is considered a firearm, it should be the same process as getting a gun worked on.
  4. It's possible on some cans but is generally a manufacturer level replacement. Most centerfire cans are welded on. His best course of action is to just not shoot other peoples stuff.
  5. it sounds about equal for what you're wanting.
  6. If you want a 19, hold out for a 19. Or spend the $4-500 and buy one. Conversion barrels can be tricky things sometimes. Another option would be to get the 23 and replace or change out the entire upper+extractor. I still think your best bet is to buy a 19.
  7. Dolomite has sound advice. After this transfer, list him publicly here and never use him again. Any dealer that is willing to use your can without permission, especially putting rounds through it, is a dealer not to be trusted. . eta: You're damn lucky you didn't get a strike. Especially being so close to approval.
  8. I always wondered how much they paid to push those things out. I felt they could've put the information out in a more cost effective/efficient manner. It wasn't all bad gouge.
  9. Here is the problem with TACOM and their BS messages. They send them out knowing full well how senior leaders are going to interpret it. They don't see it as "advice" - they see it as the Army banning "a" or "b" and follow suit. Nevermind that TACOM doesn't give orders and is generally far behind the power curve regarding most anything it touches. They disingenuously couch their "advice" as an order and they always have. F*ck TACOM - they're always creating stupid drama.
  10. Are you talking about that idiot that tried to mortar his rifle with the stock fully extended?
  11. The Sig red dot is garbage. One came on my old 556. I have a lower regard for them than EOTech and that's saying something.
  12. It's an LMT MRP. I also have a 10.5 thats not in the picture.
  13. The link doesn't work anymore and I lost the document when my laptop crashed. This is an excerpt found online: And that's exactly what happened. Colt owns the TDP but it was sourced to Remington for this initial 24k. FN challenged the sole source addendum back in the late 90's but their protest was denied. I'll find some info for you later if you like. But on topic, I think it's awesome you can find a Colt at WalMart. I know I was tempted to buy it just because....and I already have too many AR's. The $1087 (price here in Memphis) isn't as great as the $950 they were going for a couple months ago but it isn't too shabby considering you can walk out the door with it.
  14. That Army Times article was incorrect and they were called on it later. It wouldn't be the first nor will it be the last time they are wrong. The Army Times is a step above The Enquirer. FN does not currently make M4's. What contract were they awarded for it (besides the one from '05 - which never provided M4s, despite what was said)? Auto Ordnance does not make US Military M4's. I've done quite a bit of research on this topic. As of right now, Colt and Remington supply factory M4's for the US military. A rebuilt M4 is something different (but I'll take it just the same). I would love a picture of a US Military Auto Ordnance M4. I would also love to use one of their Mk43's, fwiw.
  15. Do you have any pictures of the US Ordnance? I have never even heard of them making M4's nor have I seen pictures. I know they're known for the Mk43's though. A factory new M4 will be a Colt and now Remington whenever they spin up (and they will pay a royalty to Colt for use of the TDP - which they CANNOT use for civilian models). FN's are rebuilt A2/4's.
  16. That came out pissier than I meant it. No worries. It's a shame that Erik Scott went the way he went. Looks like he was a good guy who just had too much going on to handle right. I get how life can spin out of control while maintaining the veneer of normality.... He just made too many wrong decisions and wasn't able to recover from them. He wasn't some scumbag murderer, rapist, etc....he looked to be a normal guy with a normal life. Maybe that's what people identify with. But he was 100% in the wrong and he paid for his actions. Calling the cops murderers is irresponsible and wrong. I take issue with the way the article was written. This Jeff Knox guy is blatantly ignoring facts and twisting words and actions to fit his scenario and get angry reactions out of his audience. I expect that kind of stuff from liberal rags and politicians. In a way, I'm glad. He skylined himself and he shows us his willingness to twist facts for his agenda. He definitely went onto my "Disregard" list. ETA: Geez, if you really want head shaking entertainment, read the comments at the bottom of his article.
  17. FN makes M16A4's. If you received a FN marked M4, and there are some out there, it is a rebuild - not a factory new M4. There are not 4 companies providing M4's for the military. There was only one and now two.
  18. Based on scientific evidence presented in court, yes. I didn't make anything up here.
  19. He was shot because he was acting erratically. He was acting erratically because he was high. According to a witness - Who knows if he was reaching for his gun to surrender it? How are the cops supposed to know if that was his intention? They're dealing with an armed suspect who is high on opiates and isn't responding to any of their commands...and he's reaching for his pistol. Split second decisions.... Why on earth would you reach for your holstered pistol to give it up to the cops? A holstered gun laying on the ground doesn't tell you much other than it was secured improperly. He could've been trying to draw it from the holster and everything came up with it or he could've been trying to draw a holstered weapon to give it up. How do you decide which is which, especially when you're not there? Sounds to me like Scott was too stupid not to know that pulling your pistol on cops, while they're holding you at gunpoint, isn't the greatest thing to do. Based on the evidence presented in court, looks like they decided it wasn't murder. Amazing what unbiased facts can lead to, huh?
  20. Thats what really gets to me about it. It's so blatantly biased and ignorant of facts, that it makes me think anything else this guy writes is just as contemptible. I would expect to read something like this (except extremely liberal) in the Huffington Post or NY Times.
  21. This happened a couple years ago. I notice this article doesn't state the fact that Scott was under the influence of substantial levels of Zanax and Morphine. Here's a link to follow - http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/sep/22/coroners-inquest-erik-scott/ Jeff Knox needs to do some more research.
  22. That and Remington has to pay Colt a percentage for every M4 they provide... It looks like WalMart saw the writing on the wall and also got tired of missing out on the black rifle boom. If they'd start stocking reloading components it would be pretty nice too. Might force local rip off stores like BassPro to be somewhat reasonable.
  23. Aaaand for the most part (with a few notable exceptions), anywhere else too.
