  1. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. I've walked out the door approved, delayed, and denied. I caught a denial twice. One was solved before I walked out the door and the other time, the shop called me an hour later and I had to drive all the way back. I have no idea why they were denied on either. I have a HCP, security clearance, NFA items, etc. I'm going to get a UPIN and hopefully not deal with silliness anymore. It sucks and its embarrassing. Look into the UPIN route.
  2. Well if I had committed a murder, what better way to permanently get rid of the weapon than have the Police do it for me? It's pretty ironic. I still say we need to go down there and and buy back the good ones.
  3. We've been allowed to use PMags for quite a while. Units have been ordering them for quite a while. I was issued PMags in '09. We were not the only unit, not by a long shot. Units continue to issue them. Even with that hissy fit TACOM threw (and rightly had their collar jerked over), pmags are still ordered/issued.
  4. Would make an interesting 3-gun AR
  5. I'll put it up for sale in the Trading Post for $650!! - No TICS charge!!!
  6. Lol, I was once offered $150 for a NIB Glock 19. Sell it unless you like getting screwed.
  7. You could feed it 5.56 and probably be ok.......until it's not ok. You run higher pressures and could have a higher probability of malfunctions. RichardR is wrong. It's doable, just not smart....or necessary. You're on the right track though.
  8. Is this thing just wandering in an open area or is he on someone's land? I find it really strange that a coyote or wolf just hangs out in the open, lollygagging.
  9. That's not a purebred GSD. Could easily be a hybrid though. A wolf is usually a lot leaner and smaller than you think. For reference: 110lb GSD True Wolf Wolf/Malamute hybrid - 110lbs but ginormous! Bigger than the GSD in the first picture, and he's not little either.
  10. You need the engraving, no matter what on a F1.
  11. http://www.elpasotimes.com/ci_14849589 IMO, the guy far surpassed the casual hobbyist/enthusiast.
  12. That website is highly biased and inaccurate. Here's the FBI press release: http://www.fbi.gov/elpaso/press-releases/2010/ep082410.htm They could only tag him for the 54/51 b/c that's what was on paper. According to other sources, it appears to be far more.
  13. You buy and sell hundreds of guns using a LEO discount without an FFL, making a 6 figure profit, you invite the BATFE into your life. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Old news.

Honestly, I could care less what a sports team does before a game. I thought this was a moving tribute to comrades in arms that made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan. eta: that came across short and wasn't meant to sound like it.

I thought this was awesome enough to share.
  16. If they had taken a round serious enough to matter, it would have been plastered all over the news. They didn't catch a round to the face, aorta, jugular, etc. I haven't read anything to the contrary. I'm curious to the locations of all these wounds. I'm sure they're angling to cash in on it too.
  17. Meh, people took a round or some frag. It's not the end of the world....at least not in this instance I've still got a ricocheted round in my leg. Another way to look at it is.... trigger weight? training? how many rounds a year do they get to train with? Or is it just minimal fam fire & qual? mindset? etc Sometimes rounds go wide. It happens to the best unfortunately. Maybe NYC will learn and get their guys some legit training time. Although I doubt it. I'm not entirely excusing their shots....but I'm not monday morning quarterbacking their actions into the ground either.....especially since I've never been a cop in a gunfight.
  18. Distance? Drawing from retention during high stress/uncertainty? Target awareness? I can walk up to some unsuspecting guy and put a mag into him no problem. A real test is to have me try and do it to a guy that's armed and about to shoot me. People miss paper up close in classes or at the range.
  19. Wherever you're shopping........you shouldn't go back. That's ridiculous.
  20. I was told the same and say the same......sometimes the juice isn't worth the squeeze though, this being one of them. They were dead serious about maxing a company grade Art15. No thanks, not worth it.
  21. They threaten to Art 15 you for messing with the MILES now.
  22. They're tweaked it. Still a ####ty system though. I think we can get more effective training out of sims and utm rounds. Kinda hard to juke the system like OPFOR tends to do...
  23. I think it is a byproduct of inflated pricing. As the internet grew and online shopping exploded, stores could no long rely on selling their wares at the prices they had listed. Why would I go into Best Buy and buy an item that is priced 30% over competitors? I think a lot of people would like to support their local businesses, even if it costs them more. I know I like to shop local in my town even though I could drive down to Bartlett and save more. But just like my give, there has to be some give on the store owners side. I think a lot of gun shops price themselves out of business. And it's not by a little.... example: I can get a new Glock for $400, call it $430 after shipping/FFL. I can get that same Glock for $600+ and then pay tax on it at the LGS, call it $650. Why would I do that? Lets say that LGS had the Glock for $500ish....I would pay that. I think most people would pay that.....we just don't like to be blatantly slapped in the face with such a price difference. The same goes for all the accessories. Sure, I'll pay more to keep you in business.....right up until I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. Then I'm gone. I'll pay more for better customer service. I'll pay more for knowledgeable help. I'll pay more to help keep a good shop/person in business. I won't pay more for condescension, rude attitudes, and price gouging. I don't think anyone is butthurt....more just disappointed in the actions and futures of LGS's. My $14 PMag was an example. I can't remember the last time I paid over $11. And I agree with you about the $35/41 mag. It is when a place sells a $35 mag for $50 that I get annoyed. It's when they sell a $35 mag for $60 that I won't go back in there.
