As heavy as that UBR is, it usually balances out a muzzle heavy weapon - aka, it helps with a suppressed weapon.  You want to lighten that gun, it'll be in the barrel and rail.  Try not covering the rail with covers either.  Those things add up.

Best thing I ever did with my Glocks was to consolidate calibers.   ETA: Meaning....it allowed me to shoot more instead of buying more expensive ammo and getting less trigger time per gun.  I was able to focus on shooting rather than adjusting to different recoils/mechanics.   The only time I've deviated was for .380 and I got that LCP because I needed a gun for running. 

What I find strange is the Andrew (the Vuurwapen guy - aka 87GN) was all about BC's back in the day.  Maybe not as enthusiastic as some people but he still had good things to say about them.

Personally, I'd say numbers 1 & 2 are reasonably accurate.  Number 3 depends on a couple of factors, type of ammunition being heavily dependent.    I view a BC as more of a hybrid.....not a true comp and not a true FH.  It will have its pluses and minuses depending on barrel length, ammo, etc.    Marketing is marketing, I expect some sort of slant and agenda.  I can't shake the feeling that if they sold the BC for $30, a ton of people would be jumping to their defense.  Kinda like how PSA gets a lot of slack because they sell things at such a low price.

  Lol feisty tonight huh?  I don't know why you flared up but I'm actually in agreement with you.  I have a BC on one of my MRP barrels.  I am aware of what it does and can do.  I like it but I generally stick with my SF devices because of my can.   Funny thing about Andrew's review.....if you google his old screen name and read his posts, he was on the BC bandwagon just like everyone else.  I wonder what prompted his abrupt departure?

Every site has its caveats, limitations, and biases...TGO is the same way.

I had everything through USAA until two weeks ago.  I had my Explorer insured as garaged while I was gone and when I went to have the coverages re-enabled, the price USAA gave me was high.  I asked them if there was anything they could do and the girl on the phone didn't even try.  So I looked into Progressive......ended up saving me $765 a year, roughly 50% of what USAA was charging me.  The coverages are the exact same.  USAA couldn't be bothered to even try to retain a 10+ year customer.....up until I called to cancel.  Then they wanted to care and work with me.  Too late...   I'm also about to look into my homeowners insurance, personal property rates, etc.    Their service has gone down and their prices have gone up ever since they widened their customer base IMO.  I never minded paying a slight premium for good service but I feel like that time has passed for them.

Meh.  It's a trigger for people who don't really count where their rounds go anyways.

It's just a standard Glock, not even that rare.  Same as a 17L but in .40.  They've gone by the wayside because the 34/35 meet the requirements for competition and the 17L/24 don't.   Still a good gun and they are still being manufactured.

Ha, yea that was me.  Google lied to me and put his location a mile or two up the road.   There are few people in the Memphis area that I recommend.  Since I've found Matt @ Medic Firearms, I haven't gone to anyone else.  Cool dude with good FFL transfer fees.  I hit him up to see if he has it in stock or can get it...but if not, he's good with transferring it in.  No attitude and no insane fees unlike other shops in the Memphis AO.

If you think about the number of people on the roads daily, it is a low number (very low in my snap judgment/guess). 

Spike's has a golfballed carrier that they've sold the hell out of (apparently).  I've never used one but it's along the same idea of the JP low mass.  Generally designed for specific uses or gaming guns.   ETA:  I see that it's already been covered.

If you want to shoot rifles around here and don't have/know anyone with land, this is just about the only game in town.    The money I would have spent shooting at the local indoor ranges is better spent at MSSA....not to mention avoiding the aggravation.  You'll have more freedom and options there.  IMO, it is well worth the money.  That initial fee sucks but long term, I think its more than worth it.

If it were my barrel, I'd either have Marvin Pitts or ADCO weld it and drill a new port.  That depends on who makes the barrel, if it's even worth it.  You guys are correct.  The easiest thing to do is put on a good adjustable gas block and call it fixed.  Absolutely nothing wrong with that course of action.

Without mic'ing your port, my money is on that, an oversized port....for what little its worth.   Again, an adjustable block can be a good thing if you understand what its for and why you're using it.  IMO, it is to tune weapons for suppressors or rifle games like 3 gun.  Nothing wrong with that.....but I don't think it's the solution for a simple overgassed port.

The barrel doesn't matter.   You're most likely looking at an oversized gas port.  What kind of rifle/upper is this?    An adjustable gas block is a solution but not THE solution if that makes sense. You can slow things down by playing with buffer weights, springs, BCG's.....but overall, an oversized port is the root cause.  Adjustable gas blocks should be your last resort (unless you're specifically using it for a suppressor or tuning it for games like 3 gun).

What kind of rifle/upper is this?   5.56 ammo or .223 ( I suspect .223 based on the Russkie comment).  If your rifle is overgassed on Russian ammo, either the gas block or gas tube needs to be replaced.   The buffer tube (RE) doesn't matter one bit.  Yes, it can change the feel of how the rifle shoots due to a heavier buffer...but that doesn't mean the rifle isn't still overgassed.   Temperature and wind have zero effect on it.

It's been a good shop in my experience.

Ha, it's amazing the stuff you can forget out there.  Really though, if you need it, hit me up and we'll meet (MSSA beckons...) or I'll mail it in an envelope.   I fought buying one of those Troy's when they came out.  How do you like it?  Why'd you get rid of the stock?  I thought the stock was ugly but when I shouldered it, it felt comfortable.
