The threads on a comm spec stock are inferior. This is where it matters. Avoid the TAPCO and go with a known quantity. You're looking for a milspec diameter extension and they can have 4-6 positions.

You need to pay attention to the specs on the receiver extension. All "milspec" tubes are not equal. Generally, a comm spec tube is not the greatest and definitely not the preferred option....stock compatibility being one of the issues. What amazon kit are you looking at? Do it right the first time so you're not (paying) to do it again.

I've missed 3/5 marriage anniversaries, with what looks to be another coming up this spring for 4/6. I've missed the birth of my only child and a majority of the pregnancy and his 1st birthday. I've missed many other holidays too. That's not even counting all the Staff Duty, CQ, and field rotations. Its very hard for me to empathize with it too. It sucks to work holidays. You're preaching to the choir with all the military, medical, police, fire, etc that can't be off either. It sucks but it will never change.

Many FFL's were selling them as rifles instead of other. Some still do. There were recent-ish clarifications regarding selling stripped lowers as "others." You now officially need to be 21 to purchase it from an FFL.

Used SureFire weapon light. You can easily score 951/2's for $100ish, ScoutLights for $150ish depending on model, and X seriers for $150ish. I would not look any further.

If this is actual simmunitions (which is what it sounds like)..... Getting hit with simunitions will not be the highlight of your day, trust me on this. This stuff will break skin, leave painful and large bruises, damage optics and lights, etc, etc. Even with the eye pro, face masks, etc - they f'ing hurt. Just wait until someone experiences a jammed up barrel. Know what we do with those in the Army? Pull them and throw them away. Hope those guys enjoy themselves.

Are there any other quality manufacturers out there that don't mark their barrels in some shape or fashion?

Early ones were reportedly cerakoted (or something similiar) and later ones were anodized IIRC. My finish has held up great.

Have you even used the sights John? You don't see 6 dots. In the day light, they eyes are drawn to the FO sights and at night, the tritium....or the spot light from the SF x300U

For those of you looking for actual VTAC pistols, they only come in 9mm and .40. They are also not black like that scam artist.

I have one and enjoy it. I don't find the sights busy at all. There is a bit of a learning curve with them but it seems to be more of a training issue IMO.

I'm always a little amazed when I read about people asking these sorts of questions (not a knock on you)..... I bought my 1st G17 in 2000....I remember $100+ G17 mags... Here's the thing about magazines - they're ultimately disposable items. When they begin to malfunction, toss them or mark them accordingly for drill. You can [b][i]never [/i][/b]have enough... Same with reloading components and ammo. The price only goes up. It's not like it's going to go bad (w/in reason) and you're most likely going to use it anyways. Buy in bulk, however you need to arrange it. A recent example is 55gr .224.....it was going for around $70 per 1k.....now it's around $100+ per 1k. That's only in the past few months. It used to be even cheaper. Everything is up across the board. It might go down a little but ultimately it will keep going up. You can't go wrong buying early and stocking up. The worst that happens is you use it.

If it's an incan, the head might be bad. Those have always had an issue of wearing out, whether SF or others. I would check into putting an LED into it. It would be more cost effective in the long run and you'd get better results

Colt is not the gold standard but they are the minimum standard. TDP is not the holy grail, it can and is improved upon......the problem lies in the manufacturers that don't even meet the minimum standard.

Just because a dude is awesome at 700's or 1911's [i][u]does not[/u][/i] equal AR15. But really, this is easily a job you can do. The thing with these particular FH's, they don't need to be timed. That is purely an individual quirk......but since you want it done, you have two options: 1) Get some shims and do it yourself. SureFire has a neat little wheel chart that shows the thickness of the shims you'll need based on where the muzzle device hand tightens to. Google should find it. 2) Send it to a competent AR15 shop. Marvin Pitts of Nefarious Arms in AR is my first choice and then I would say ADCO. They will be able to install it to your preference and then make it permanent. I was reluctant to do this stuff at first too. I had some SF brakes and those need to be timed. I was overly worried about it w/ my suppressor and didn't want to mess anything up. Luckily Wes Grant (MSTN) invited me over to his house and walked me through the process. It really is simple to do once you get the hang of it.
