1. It's not the recoil, it's the mass of the bolt.  It has a completely different impulse than standard variant rifles.  The optics issue is a confirmed problem....but it rears its head randomly.  From what I understand, the glass manufacturers are/have worked on it.   I've also read of .22's ruining high dollar optics.  The engineering/physics is beyond me though.   The ONLY thing that gives me angst about the SCAR is the spare barrel problem.  I've been waiting years for barrels, sure that they would come out eventually...and now that they're on the cusp of release, they are stupid expensive.  There is no way I will pay $1100+ for a spare barrel....its sad that I would consider $700 to be a "cheap" price on a spare barrel...
2. Exactly.  People are quick, very quick to forget.  Spikes did the exact same thing with the exact same lame "supplier" excuse.....except they both raised their prices immediately, within hours immediately, of the election.  I hope the shooting community has a longer memory this time.
3. A+ for effort, D- for spelling and grammar
4. Home of the $60 pmag and $900 case of .223    This isn't the first time they've pulled these stunts.  I hope the public has a longer memory this time.
5. What type is your gas block?  Is your barrel dimpled for a set screw?
6. Any update to this?
7. Agreed.   Some people are only alive because it is illegal to kill them
8. He needs his ass beaten
9. Figured as much.  What are you going to do to secure it?  Obviously the guy who was watching his grainy youtube videos( :stunned: ), despite all protestations to the contrary, didn't really know what he was doing.....
10. Home builds.... :ugh:   Dude, like Dolomite is saying, this is a gas issue.  You are not getting enough gas cycled through for proper function.  Thats why you can see the carrier partially cycling...its just not getting enough.  Since you said your gas key is not loose from the carrier, it has to be the gas block.  Either it was never correctly lined up, it has shifted, or the gas tube is shifting.   Do not clean the gas tube.  You don't have a pipe cleaner long enough anyways.  All you do is introduce fouling/lint/crap into the tube....same reason you don't qtip the gas keys unless you're paying attention.   I would hesitate to drill out the gas port before you pulled the block and measured it.  Chances are, its already on the high side.  That is always a last resort or what some people do for cut down barrels.  Can you take detailed pictures?
11. Is this a factory build?
12. Pro LEO propaganda, trying to hide their JBTness :shake:   Really though, pretty f'in cool and empathetic of the officer.  Someone raised him correctly.
13. You must be the "e-operator" and "mall ninja" everyone is talking about    Good looking rifle.  Your stock is crying for rattlecan
14. An E5 with a family makes close to $150k?  Don't contractors only get taxed when they go over a certain amount?  I talked to someone today that said after 90k, that's when they pay taxes.   ETA:  Hm, checking into it, it seems that companies have been getting in trouble for tax evasion and contractors have been getting dinged.  Interesting.  I'd still rather pay taxes on $150k...
15. :surrender:  Sadly true, although they're making noise about chaptering now that they don't need the numbers.  Personally, I'm looking forward to cutting some of the dead weight
16. The 670-1 Gods disapprove your poll.......   RARE or MEDIUM RARE?
17. You should consider yourself lucky.  I pay comcast double what you're paying just for internet.  I got rid of my cable b/c I never watch it and its not worth it for me to bundle.  I wish I had fiber optic service.....
18.   Keep believing it's the hype.  Keep thinking its not a well regarded manufacturer using known quality parts to construct a quality weapon.  You want to use a DPMS or whatever, fine.  There's a reason they have the reputation they do and others have the reputation they do.   It's a friggin AR?  Average skill and minimal tools?  And yet you see, read, and hear about people screwing them up every day.  There is a big difference between a company that knows what its doing and some guy watching a grainy youtube video.  Do what you want but I'm going to trust the factory built weapon from a company like BCM before I'm going to trust Billy Bob down the street wrenching on things.   Don't want to train with him?  Whatever.  Find a trainer you want and rock on.  But it's definitely a plus for those who want it or want to try it.
19. Its fine right where it is for your uses right now.  A little unsolicited advice, meant in the best possible way.....  Stop.  Stop buying garbage accessories to decorate your rifle.  You made an excellent choice for your first AR.  Don't ugly it up with cheap trinkets.  Assess what you need, not what looks cool.  When you decide what you need, through research and use, don't skimp on buying.  You will find out with ARs, you pay for what you get.  Think "buy once, cry once."  That money you spent on those things would have been better spent on ammo.   Ammo - buy more of it.  You can never have enough.  Price is going no where but up.  Ammo is one of the better investments you can make with a weapon.  The more you shoot, the more proficient you become.  The more proficient you become, the more knowledgeable and savvy you become with your weapon of choice.  Ammo only helps.   Buy more magazines.  They're ultimately disposable items.  Find a sale on good mags, they're out there.  Never pay more than $14.20.....and you can usually get good mags cheaper.  Stick with a known quality.   Do your research on accessories.  Good things cost more for a reason.  BUT, you can still get fantastic deals on lightly used, quality items if you're patient and looking.
20. MSRP is $2200ish....that's not the street price.  Comparable ARs are right around that range of $18-2kish.  As someone stated, you can build it for close to $1900.....and thats without the cerakote, training coupon, people who actually know how to build an AR correctly rather than a guy tinkering at his work bench, and most importantly - the FET.   While high, the price is not outrageous.    Mall ninja?  Please.  That's reserved for all the DPMS, Bushmaster, etc guns with fake optics, Mako grips, UTG rails, chinese lights and lasers, and a Walmart bipod    It's not for everybody, obviously.  But you can't deny that it is a quality weapon, built with quality parts, by a quality company with a known standard of success.
21. You do. I just logged in for the first time since 2009ish. You're not missing anything other than some trolling and then his defenders piling on.
22. Interesting. I know myself and many other people that have bought at our HOR and duty station. I'm definitely in for the answer to your question.
23. No you don't need to keep the receipt. Yes, you are one of the few people that worry about stuff like this. Stop over thinking this.
24.
Maybe, and maybe not. http://www.law.corne...ode/text/18/921 This is the definitions section preceding the section 922 that OS linked to about loaning. it says (b ) For the purposes of this chapter, a member of the Armed Forces on active duty is a resident of the State in which his permanent duty station is located.
You are also a resident of your state HOR. There's zero problem here. You're loaning a weapon to a friend, who is a TN resident, while he is physically in TN and he has no violations which would keep him from owning a firearm.
25.
Absolutely it is a bad trait. Not that I think of him as anything more that a war tourist, if I found myself in a situation where he would be the person watching my back I would would rather sit and watch radios. His attitude is the epitome of douchey tough guy which is what gets people killed; either because he discovers he isn't as tough as he thinks he is when the metal starts flying, or he does stupid stuff to get his fight on. He is bad news. Trust me, I've dealt with his kind before. They are dangerous in a combat zone.
Go sit on your hands in the TOC you!
