  1.   Ok, I'll bite.  What did you mean by returning soldiers?  Or are you talking about anyone who ever might have been in the military ever?  Because to current and recently ETSed military, "returning" mean one thing.   But to draw from one of those sources that article cites;   It appears that we need to watch civilians who have never served more closely than we need to watch military members.   I'm sick and tired of being bombarded with propaganda and misinterpretations that service members are a danger to others and themselves.  I sit through this type of garbage 2-3 times a year.  PTSD has been the hot button lately and I have a suspicion, recently bolstered by this BS the VA and the Government, that they're angling on taking away rights from the many, based on the few.
  2. In before someone explains the free market economy.....again.
  3.   Everyone is suddenly an expert in microeconomics
  4. PD, what?  I'm not tracking.
  5.   Management isn't elected.  Who hires the city police chiefs?  It isn't the cops.  Who puts the brass in place?  It isn't the cops.  Union?  You might have some traction there.  I'm not unsympathetic to what you're saying.  I would bet that we agree more than we disagree on this.
  6. Outraged?  Please.  More like disgusted.  They'll make their money up front but they're losing long term customers.  I don't support companies that gouge and I'll do my best to inform others.  There's another cool aspect to the Free Market that you're forgetting; consumer alienation.  They can play all the "market" games they want.  I will remember, hold a grudge, ridicule, and spend my money with their competitors.
  7.   Which is equally ridiculous.  And exactly what I'm talking about.  Does anyone in their rightful mind think .22 is/ will be banned?  You are foolish if you buy at these prices.  For years I've harped on people to buy ammo in bulk.  The price rarely goes down.  If you're serious about shooting, you will shoot it.  It may suck to spend a few hundred dollars or more at one time but you will use it eventually.  People would rather nickel and dime it and now they're paying out the nose.  You will save money in the long run by buying in 1k minimums.  If I could go back to white box 9mm @ 11.95 in '06 and take out a loan, I would.  I left to Iraq at that price and when I got back in late '07 it was $18.95.  That was my wakeup call.   People have been stupidly sleeping these past years.  Now they want to get mad at a company for putting mags in people's hands but they'll happily pay SGAmmo's/ whomever's prices? Pot meet kettle.
  8. Rank and file cops are (for the most part) NOT the problem.  Their union(s)/leadership?  Yes.  Would you deny the Sheriffs/ deputies of those states, the ones that have said they will not enforce these anti-2nd laws, those mags?  I would place money that if you asked the average cop if they buy into their managements ideas, they would say no.  Most of them are guys just like us. The idea of a LEO exemption bugs me too.  But to outright hate on Magpul for putting reasonably priced magazines in the hands of gunowners is, IMO, wrongly placed anger.  We're getting mad at the wrong people.   ETA:  Again - Magpul is so "gung-ho" that they are moving their entire company to another state.  I would imagine the logistics of such a move is daunting and expensive.
  9. :shake:   They also instituted a hook up for CO residents that will trump all those.  They want to leave as many mags in CO hands as possible.  They have not raised their prices on anyone.  You can still get their mags as cheap as you always could.  They're going as far as moving their entire operation to a free state.  Has anyone else done that?  I would save my angst for those companies that are busy raking you over the coals.   SGAmmo - $35 for a brick of friggin' .22? CTD - enough said etc, etc, etc.   Instead you have people, even on this forum, that said they would continue to support the price gougers if it means they can save a couple dollars later on.  You have people on this forum that are raping their fellow Tennesseans and gun owners on guns, magazines, and ammunition.  If you want to aim your outrage at anyone, they should be target #1.
  10. 22 Soldiers a day from redeploying units?  You have a firm source for that stat?  Because I'm calling BS.  That's no where close to reality.....as a matter of fact, in the entire military last year you're looking at 349.   Its a big military.   People kill themselves for a variety of reasons.  Same with the rest of America.  According to NIMH, you're looking at 11 out of 100k.  Eleven out of One Hundred Thousand.    I'd argue that the suicide hype is just that - a lot of hype.  Is it a problem?  Sure, just like murder and texting while driving are problems.  Media and politicians are blowing it out of proportion.....and the question is why?  One answer could be they want to take guns away from the people that use(d) them...
  11.   The problem with this is that guys who need help will drop out of the process too.  It shouldn't be freely handed out but the process shouldn't be so onerous as to discourage claimants.
  12. My friend bought some "factory" reloads from Classic Arms in the Memphis area.  They were from who ever markets them in Oakland.  The bullets were lead...he had a squib before he finally stopped shooting them.  They were filthy rounds with a ton of smoke/powder when fired.   Something to be aware of.  Only shoot factory or your own reloads.   Oriental, I don't think its quite lawsuit material yet.  If they were indeed from the range, that range owes a new pistol though.
  13.   Comparable to our hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of trained rifleman who puts down a haj, no?
  14. Brother, they did the same with me.    My distaste with the whole process is I've seen it abused first hand and heard the second hand stories.  I know there are people out there with legit cases of it and they deserve the help they need....but I've seen it abused more than anything.  Guys see that monthly VA payment and they want a piece.  I always wondered if the VA would come down with what they're doing.  Like I said, I'm not a tin foil guy but this has always worried me.
  15. Where I think we're going to see the disconnect Robert, is when simply having been diagnosed with PTSD will limit all veterans.  The VA will take the easy/ lazy way out and just issue a blanket proclamation rather than treating it on a case by case basis.  It won't just stop with the .mil.  Civilians ID'ed with PTSD will get limited too.  The military PTSD drama/claims are overrated.  There's legit dudes out there that need help.....and then there's mouth breathers sucking in the monthly benefits check.  I witness this every month by a couple people in a sister company.   People off themselves every day for a variety of reasons.  It seems service members just catch attention for it.  I'm sick of sitting through the same, stupid video every quarter just to check boxes and talk about our feelings when we could be out training.   I'm not a tin foil guy at all........but I've seen this one coming for years.  What its going to do is discourage those people that actually need help from getting it.
  16. Severe enough PTSD, I could see maaaaaaybe.  I think there is a line b/w legitimate threat/concern and a blanket decree by the VA/.gov.  I would wager on the latter, unfortunately.
  17. I'll bet on it.  VA counselors and reps push the PTSD crap when you're separating and when you do your VA screening when you're out.  Combined with dirtbag soldiers who lie and play it up so they can get the added benefits, it is very prevalent.    The VA may delay other medical claims or treatments for it's retirees but I can tell you first hand this has been pushed for years now.  There have been rumors about this sort of thing happening.....we're just now seeing the black and white proof.
  18. Can we ask the premise behind the query Brian?
  19. Maybe, maybe not.  What worries me about the prosecution and their mindset is a statement like this:   There was "no possible explanation to support" Pistorius' claim that he thought Steenkamp was an intruder, Nel said. And he added that even if Steenkamp had been an intruder, the shooting would still have been the murder of a burglar.   Even if?  That shows that they don't have much of a case at the moment.  They have no idea what happened or what went wrong.  They're charging just to charge.

    Beretta 92

The great thing about being a Reservist is that I don't care all that much about my 1/1 NCOERs  :usa:   Pat, Thank you for stepping up.  Someone just messaged me from another board and we worked it out.  I'll be in touch soon about that other thing.  I just came back in town but I'll be headed your way to get it taken care of.

    Beretta 92

Anyone in the Memphis area with a Beretta 92?  I have a question for you.   To fill this in.... I'm making a holster for on the FOB wear for Afghanistan and I made the first one out of .060 Kydex.  I'd like to knock out another one with thicker material.  All I'd need is for you to come by my house for about 45 minutes.....I'll buy the beer
  22. Getting past the initial indignation because we don't like the POTUS.......this isn't new.  It's been happening for years and goes back through administrations.
  23. He was brought down because he couldn't keep his dick in his pants.......even if she was hot :koolaid:
