I wish I was so lucky. I've been laid off since the end of March. Unemployment sux, especially with child support to pay. I've got a very good prospect that I'll know something this week on though.

What is Tenn. law on this scenario?
Fivestring63 replied to andersmg's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Sounds like what I'd do. Might want to add, calling 911 on the cell phone. Always be the first to call. -
I took my 8 & 9 yo's to the range at Gunny's the other day. Yea, I saw the worker with a bandage on his hand, but didn't ask. I usually just been letting them shoot .22 rifles and pistols but this time I figured it was time we stepped it up a notch. After a LOT of convincing they both shot my S&W 9c and also a bushmaster AR-15. They were both very scared to shoot these. After a few boxes of each, we had other people watching us amazed at the accuracy they had. Now they can't get enough. I actually had to go back and get a few more boxes. Watching my youngest shoot the Bushmaster in a text book kneeling position was priceless. Just a proud parent watching his boys grow up.

I remember doing one of these years ago when I was an NRA member. I didn't win anything.

Did you all read this story from newschannel5?? The thing that gets me is the last paragraph. I thought the law says that If someone is in your home, you're already in fear for your life. NASHVILLE, Tenn. - For many people one of their biggest fears was what to do when someone breaks in and they are home alone. Police give their best options. Ken Bruce makes panic rooms or safe rooms for a living. "It's anchored to the concrete in the garage. Fourteen gauge steel and two sheets of plywood and fire resistant sheet rock on the outside of it," said Bruce. The idea was to run to one in your home when you feel unsafe. "From a storm, from invaders or whatever would come in, because whenever you shut the door you have a steel door with three deadbolts," said Bruce. Police said that was one way to protect yourself if someone was breaking into their home. Detective Jeannine Hale said every situation was different, but in general she recommended leaving the house and calling 911. "If you feel some type of assault is what the intruder is anticipating then your best bet is probably to get out of the house as best you can," said Hale. Two men broke into a south Nashville home in April while a woman and her husband were asleep. "I just didn't move. I just laid there under the covers and didn't move," said the victim. The couple had no time to react when a man held them at gunpoint while another ransacked their apartment. "I don't know why someone would come into my home and do this to me. I think they had the wrong house," said the victim. A lot of people keep pistols nearby for situations like this, but Detective Hale said a gun was not always the answer. "If you're not willing to use it you could be a victim from them taking that gun and using it on you," said Hale. She said if their going to have a gun for protection, make sure they are well-trained, so there will be no hesitation about using it. "If you know that when you pull the gun and you'll use it, I don't see anything wrong with announcing I have a gun and I will protect myself," said Hale. She said the best and safest option was still to get away from the home and call police. Police said legally you can not shoot someone to protect personal property which means if you shoot someone inside your home - you must feel threatened or your life must be in danger.

I made that mistake years ago when I was getting into guns. I had a Taurus 9mm. The Beretta copy. When Berettas were first being issued to the military I heard a story of something like the slide blowing off of the Berettas. The first thing I did was trade my Taurus. As I look back, it was a mistake to trade it off. I am keeping my S&W 9mm. I've not had the first problem with it.

The owner of the sight said he'd welcome a submittal with a conservative slant as well. It does work both ways though.

Since no one has answered yet I'll take a shot. Since he was employed by the show, if he told you not to carry there, even if not posted, you can't. Worst case, If you carried anyway and was caught, I'd say some kind of charges could be taken against you if they wanted to push it. OK, thats how I think things would work out. Some of you others tell me the right answer now.

I was looking for a good pocket gun to carry since its warming up and it might not be feasible to carry my S&W, so I looked at a Cobra 380 the other day. Mainly because of the price. I was thinking I was gonna see a cheaply made gun, but first appearances to me seems like it was well made. What are some pros and cons on these?

For anyone that saw Regis this morning, 4/22, that was my sister-in-law that won the trip to St. Martin. She's tickled to death.

Hey jwp, a quick question. As long as I've been looking, probably better than a year now at your all's website, the firearms section is always being "worked on". Are there any plans to get it up and running? I know it's pretty hard to keep things up to date when you sell things all the time. As a matter of fact, I bought my MPc from you guys about a year ago.

I visited my old job today and came upon a buddy that was sitting down. He kinda slapped at me a little and hit my concealed weapon dead on. He never noticed or maybe he just thought I had 6-pack abs. Yea, thats it.

Cas Walker, a great Tennesseean and American

I remember when a rock band went there once to play on his show. They hit a couple licks and Cas stopped them and told them they need to go practice some more. LOL -
The main thing I noticed was when the BG came into the room, they knew who had the gun and went straight for them. Thats not an accurate scenario of how things would happen unless the BG knew beforehand who was carrying. Also the people that they gave the guns to had no experience with carrying in the first place. No wonder they didn't all react correctly. The small kids with the guns.... well they're just being kids. I remember as a kid we had neighborhood wars with play guns. If they come across a gun it's because of irresponsible parents. With the older kids cleaning out the garage... I see that as little or no training on how to handle guns. Education is the key. Not out of site out of mind. I had my 8 and 9 yo watching this with me and we talked about all that was said, especially pointing out the biased parts of it.

Just want to vent a little. I got laid off 2 week ago. I was one of the unlucky ones that worked at ALCOA. I hate to, but I'm thinking about going back Over The Road but people nowadays want recent driving experience even though I drove OTR for years but it's been a while back. One thing that ticks me off a little about this is our illustrious President at ALCOA that shut us down isn't even American. He's German. This is our world economy at work.

I had mine done in Hawaii in about 1987 by some lady that you just had to be lucky to catch her in.It is a combination of 3 different designs that I picked from her wall. It is a shield with red and white stripes running up and down. An Eagle in the center. The bottom part of the shield has white stars with a blue background.A banner on top that says "Semper Fi" and a banner on the bottom that says "USMC". Back then if I remember right it cost me about $85.00. I don't feel an Army tattoo deserves a spot.
