  1. All I have been trying to say is you can't fire on a person as a deterrent therefore you can't fire on a dog without intent to kill for reasons of self defense.
  2. Like I said no bad dogs. Some may be misunderstood due to bad owners. I will stand behind that statement.
  3. I am not saying that you shouldn't defend yourself against an attacking dog. I am saying that you react to the dog running after something he doesn't see everyday and looks fun to chase. Your reaction is empowerment to the dog. But let me guess there is no where for you to find where people don't keep there dogs up.
  4. I completely agree with deadly force if a dog has you down on the ground unable to flee deadly force is necessary, the only way you can't shoot a dog/cat in TN is if you are in fear of your or someone else's life or the life of your livestock. Charges go from a class c misdemeanor to class e felony.
  5. I think the best thing to do is stop the bike and look the dog in the eye and he will probably go away. The fear is yours. If you are scared of dogs maybe you should avoid the areas where there may be a problem. I am a volunteer animal cruelty investigator for the SPCA and TN law says that you have to be on your property to shoot a dog and then it has to be killing livestock (people) ect. Shooting a dog is like shooting a person you have to be in fear of your life. When I was in college, I rode 10-15 miles a day 3-4 times a week in rural west Tennessee and have been chased by many dogs and never been bitten. There are no bad dogs just bad owners. Call animal control.
  6. That is great. Make sure she carries now.

    new XD40

I have had mine about 8 months and have fired at least 500 rounds and have never had a failure!!!!! I love it!!!!!!
  11. The Great Outdoor Store in Jackson for west Tennessee. Best selection vs. price and Their range master is very very knowledgeable and they are easy to talk to.
  12. This just proves that what a local police officer told my wife, " if they come thur the door unanounced...protect yourself."
  13. Thanks... I am not dead set on a .40 but I have 2 and just less ammo to store. I have been thinking about getting me a .380 or compact 9mm for a pocket weapon and if I do I may get her a pink taurus 738 to satisfiy the pink qualification.
  14. Yeah a friend of mine has a 738 and i was going to get together with him and let her shoot it. I have thought about duro-coating. And no I I don't know why pink. She saw a pink walther P22 when we were at the range one day and that is all I have heard for the last 6 months. I am thinking about getting me a 738 as a concealed weapon.
  15. Is anyone familiar with the Taurus M24/7 in .40 caliber. My wife insists on having a pink weapon for personal use. She like my xd40 but admitts that the recoil is a little much for her(it takes her to long to get back on target). I can't find a range in my area the has this particular gun to rent so I can let her try it out. We looked at the taurus 738, but I am afraid the recoil will be too much in that small of a frame for her. Any suggestions?
  16. My xd40 has never failed either. I have run 200 'rounds about as quick as I could and never failed.
  17. I have an xd40 and the holster that comes with them is junk. I use a blackhawk serpa restraint holster that i am very happy with. You can pick them up about anywhere for around $40.
  18. I am not from your area so can't recommend where to shop I have experienced shooting the taurus millinneum as well as the bersa thunder .380 The millinneum was in .40 s&w. My in-laws both carry the taurus as a personal protection weapon in detroit. The taurus retails for about $329 and the bersa for about $299. I personally open carry a Springfeild xd-40 that I am very happy with. I am looking at a taurus pt740 slim just as a concealmeny weapon.
  19. Congrats on the permit. If you open carry(which i do) Wal-mart reserves the right to ask you to conceal your weapon. I usually carry in Wal-mart under a UN-tucked shirt only, and have never been questioned. Just FYI about their handgun carry policy. You can search Walmart HCP to get all the details, but it is very weird the way they word it.
  20. Hello out there form Milan TN, Just joined your site at the recommendation of a friend. I currently own a .30-06, .30-30, .40 s&w, and a good ole model 870. I am always looking for new info on firearms in general and have read some great forums already.
