  1. I guess I'm not in charge of my charges, since the charges that I'm using are the charges of a reloading manual.... For if I were truly in charge of my own charges, my gun would be in many pieces...
  2. Why are there only 2 dies in rifle die sets, and 3 or 4 in pistol die sets?   Is it just missing the crimp die?   I'm just getting into reloading rifles and was looking at a 6.5x55 Swedish set and it made me ponder....       Edit:  Another question,  if I want to reload 45-70 rounds with black powder, will I need a special powder measurer to keep from having a static explosion?   Edit2:  Why is it that lighter bullets require more powder?  You'd think the opposite because a smaller mass should require less energy to equal the same velocity...  I can see how if you want the same amount of force out of a smaller projectile, you'd increase the powder charge, but wouldn't that make unsafe chamber pressures?   And how do the companies that write reloading manuals measure the chamber pressures?

    Mini 30

I haven't had a single issue out of mine, but I've also never shot steel case ammo...   Not the most accurate gun, but I can hit a man sized steel target out to 500 yards without too much trouble....   Not the funnest gun to clean though
  4.  I stopped ordering from CTD a few years ago, when I discovered that the only thing that was "cheaper than dirt" about them was their moral values.   I usually just buy a box of 303 British when my LGS has a box for around $25.   It's like a fine wine or a nice cigar or box of chocolates, only used on special occasions.    Hopefully, I'll get to start reloading for the 303 British this fall or winter
  5. I sure do wish I could find some reloading pistol powder....   The market is still dried up in my area
  6. So I just threw out an offer on a NIB RCBS Rock Chucker on ebay and it was accepted!   Yay for saving money and getting no tax and free shipping!  Now I'll just get a few things like the Hornady bushings and he'll be set pretty nicely
  7. My brother in law's birthday is coming up, and I'm thinking about getting him a press...   All he has now is a cheap Lee handpress, and I know that has to be tiring on his hands, plus a pain in general and not very time effecient.....     I have a Dillon 550B, but I don't have the money to buy him that kind of setup....   So what would you all recommend?   I could get a Lee Challenger kit like this http://www.midwayusa.com/product/785993/lee-classic-4-hole-turret-press-deluxe-kit   Or the Lee Turret for a little more money http://www.midwayusa.com/product/121744/lee-challenger-breech-lock-single-stage-press-kit   Or possibly go in with my sister and parents and get a RCBS Rock Chucker kit http://www.midwayusa.com/product/937051/rcbs-rock-chucker-supreme-master-single-stage-press-kit    He does already have a scale, but he doesn't have any kind of priming tool or powder measurer....   maybe I could talk him into giving me the scale that comes with the kits, seeing that I don't have a manual scale.... I'm sure any of these options will be much better than his current setup, but I just wanted to get some opinions...      Oh yeah, he just loads 45 acp currently, but may possibly get into 8x57mm Mauser soon
  8. Is there any rhyme or reason behind the powder numbering system?
  9. You can shoot it lefty or righty without changing anything.....  just when you're shooting lefty, the brass might graze your chin if using lighter 223 rounds, but if you use regular ammo, the brass deflector will throw them more forward
  10. Oh Yeah!
  11. Say shalom to my little friend!
  12. I took the plunge, it should be here by Monday
  13. I went with a Streamlight TLR-H1, and I'm currently looking for a G33 to go behind my XPS-2, and as for the Geissele trigger, perhaps after I pay for my truck insurance first lol
  14. So something like this...
  15. Does the eotech with magnifier make the gun too heavy?  By my calculations, the gun, with a full magazine, eotech and magnifier will be over 10 lbs....   is it a hindrance?   I guess the good thing about the magnifier is how fast you can take it off and put it on....   I'm just trying to look at all the pros and cons before I drop $500 on a magnifier
  16. All input is greatly appreciated....   I have an Eotech, but no magnifier yet, or should I go with something like an Aimpoint Pro or Aimpoint Micro H-1....   or a scope?   Yes, this is a very subjective question, but I'd like to hear from you all....   the longest shots I'll be taking is 600 yards, and that won't be very often, mostly 100-250 yards or CQB
  17. Well, I got a Tavor, and I was planning to put my eotech on it, but then I also wanted some magnification... But adding an eotech and magnifier will make the tavor heavier than I wanted, so now I don't know whether to get a G33 or to go with a completely different optic...
  18. Been thinking about getting one for a while, but was wondering what everyone's experiences with them are?

  20. This makes me excited in placed I didn't know I had
  21. What flashlights, and mounts for a flashlight would you all recommend?  I'd like to use the hole for the MARS sight and put a pressure switch right there and have the flashlight in the hand guard under the barrel, but I can't find what I'm looking for....   I've seen the MI stuff for tavor, but it seems to come with a different tape switch...   I found a switch on ebay that would fit in that hole, but it's $30 and you have to solder it into your flashlight, and I feel there should be a better solution
  22. I may eventually, but first I have to save up for a magnifier to put behind my eotech
  23. Is there some kind of handy chart that lists each cartridge, and their diameter bullet, bullet weight, and other information?  Or am I going to have to do the research and make my own chart?
  24. Good to know, I just got a Tavor today!
  25. Yes, now I just need one of those pen flashlights to hold in front of peoples' faces to wipe their memories clean.....
