So I'm thinking about getting a Thureon Defense 9mm carbine rifle, but I didn't know if I would be able to use it as my rifle if I were to do the 3 Gun competition. In the one I would be doing, it states that anything with a power factor (PF) of 150k or higher will work. I know that if I used regular 9mm ammo (124gr x 1109fps = 137k) I didn't know if shooting it from a longer barrel would raise the PF enough for it to count or not... I'm sure you can buy +P+ ammo that would stretch up to 150k ammo... but that would be expensive to shoot, and then I might as well just go with a .223 AR

These are all the parts that I've installed so far http://www.glockworx.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=156206&CAT=3688 http://www.glockworx.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=296350&CAT=3692 http://www.glockworx.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=156546&CAT=3690 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00162PRTA/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details And this is what it looks like I highlighted the letters on the slide with silver car model paint, I thought it would help the look of it, with all the new shiny parts :-) The trigger is smoother and more crisp than the stock, so that will take some getting use to... overall I'm pleased with it so far... now if I can just find an extended mag release for the Gen 4 Glock 19, I'll be in pretty good shape

You're gonna have to lose about half of your want list in order to find something that actually exists...
-
I just did the .25 cent trigger job, and it seemed to help about 25 cents worth... It's a tad bit smoother, mainly from cleaning out all the powder residue.... I'm glad I did it because now I know how to completely disassemble/reassemble my glocks :-)

I have a generation 4 glock 19 and I'm trying to find a good trigger to put in it... I'm looking for a good/reliable smooth, clean breaking trigger in the 3.5 lbs pull range. I don't mind paying a little extra, as I've learned you get what you pay for with guns. Is it better to get just a connector, or should I go with a complete drop-in kit? And what brand is best to go with??? This gun will be solely used for competition, but I still don't want anything unreliable or unsafe. I'd like to hear from everyone, ESPECIALLY if you have had first hand experience with the GEN 4 Glock 19.... Thanks

Need honest thoughts on SIG p238 and other pocket rockets
MrBrian replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
My mom and sister both have the Sig P238 as their carry gun... as far as .380s go, it's the Cadillac! Not sure that it's the best overall carry choice for you, as I don't know everything about you, but if you want a single stack .380 in a 1911 style, you can't go wrong with it... I myself prefer a subcompact Glock for carry, because for not much more size and weight, you can carry a lot more fire power ;-) So it really just depends on what you need... if a .380 fits your needs, then buy the Sig P238! -
I would like to have a nice smooth trigger, but it just doesn't seem like a good idea to go and modify something as important as a trigger...
-
I've been trying to decide what kind of trigger kit to get for my Glock 19 Gen 4.... where did you order yours from? And did you have to do any modifications to the pieces, or did they just drop right in?

So I just found out that there's a company very close to my house that makes ARs, or at least AR lowers... I've never shot or owned any kind of AR and I was wondering if anybody has an AR by Mohawk Armory, and if so, what's the good and bad about them?

My CZ 527 Carbine in 7. 62x 39 comes in on Wednesday! The wait is killing me!!!

Everything he said was right, and everything you said was wrong. He was full of hot air, throwing out random misleading "facts". Yep, you were arguing with a Democrat. Yes, I just went there :-)
-
I'm a excited, my 7.62x39mm ammo came in today.... hopefully my 527 Carbine will be in soon!!! I'm thinking about putting a pretty good scope on it, in the near future... does anybody have any suggestions on a good one that won't break the bank?
-
I just won an auction for a CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62 x 39mm off of gunbroker.com! I've heard and read very good things about this gun, and it has so many features that I was looking for in a firearm. I know alot of people don't like the 7.62 x 39mm round, but I think it's a good round, especially for the money. I'll let you know what all I like and don't like about the rifle once it comes in.

I picked up the Ruger KGP-141 off a guy on here for a very reasonable price, and it has become one of my favorite guns that I own. At first, I was wondering if .357 magnum would be too much of a kick, but with the weight of the gun, it's a very smooth shooter... Single action is amazing, and I can hit anything I want to with it, with supreme accuracy... I don't usually shoot it in double action, but my trigger isn't "gritty" at all, it's smooth with a clean break (like all the other Ruger's I've shot) I would say that any grit in it would be from its overuse/not cleaned... Also, if you want, you can run 38 special thru it, and save a little on ammo costs. If you can pick a GP100 up for under $600, I would say grab it and don't let it go! I was very tempted to buy a second one (identical to my current one) just so I could carry around 2 amazing guns! Also, I would recommend getting the Safariland speed loaders... If you want to know anything else, just let me know

I'm excited! My black powder .45-70 shells come tomorrow, and my bayonet for it comes at the end of the week!

Hello, this morning while on a deer hunting trip, my grandfather lost the magazine to his Winchester Model 88 .308 rifle. We went back with metal detectors but couldn't locate it. After doing some research, it seems that his rifle was built in 1955 because the serial number on it is 4048. With it being that old, I'm not sure if a new (reproduction) magazine would fit properly in his rifle. Winchester model 88 Info From reading this info, it seems that his rifle would need the earliest type of magazine. I didn't know if the newer types of the magazine would fit his gun, or if it would be a better fit to get a newer version of the magazine. Does anybody have any ideas about this? I've emailed a couple gun part websites and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Finally pictures!

Does anybody have any good ideas on how to disguise long guns when wrapping them for Christmas? I don't want a rifle box wrapped up sitting under the tree, because then they'll know what they're getting!
-
Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. I ended up getting a 1350 lbs Browning. It wasn't fun getting it moved in, but now I don't have to worry about it :-)
-
The barrel isn't super shiny, but I haven't cleaned it yet... the rifling is prominent and there seems to be some minor pitting about 4 inches from the business end of the barrel...

I've been meaning to go out by his place, but I usually don't drive that far out Snapps Ferry... what kind of stuff does he have?

Do you know any good gunsmiths here in Greeneville?

My Trapdoor finally came yesterday! Now I'm just not sure about shooting it. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make sure a gun is safe to shoot.... I know the only true way is to have it x-rayed to make sure it doesn't have any damage... but is there any general rules of thumb? Also, since this is a gun from the 1880s, is it only suppose to shoot black powder? I don't know anybody that hand loads (except hickok45) so I don't know the best place to get black powder 45-70 ammo. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that shoot older rifles, so any recommendations as to what brand of ammo, or where to purchase this ammo would be appreciated. I'll upload pictures soon!

Does anyone have suggestions on how to insure antique firearms? Is it better to list them under firearms, antiques, or both? That's one of the main reasons I was trying to figure out the value of this gun... My current homeowners policy just covers up to 2500 total for firearms

How expensive? The prices that I can find online, they are from around 2500-4500... which is not cheap but hopefully it won't be more than that
