1. Where are some good brick and mortar places, preferrably in East Tennessee, that usually carry a good selection of older/military rifles (such as 1903, Garand, Mosins, Enfields, etc...)
2. I love the build of these guns, and the action is super nice. I just wish they would have put some sights on this gun... I know it's a hunting rifle meant for a scope, but I like shooting with iron sights!!!
3. Can people from out of state just drive down to Anniston, AL and buy from CMP without any problems??? Do you have to do all of the stuff and fill out all of the forms that they require on their website?
4. I went with a Mossberg 500 with a Tri-rail... that way I can have my flashlight mounted on the fore-end... I believe the model is 50575. http://www.mossberg.com/product/shotguns-pump-action-500-special-purpose-tactical-tri-rail/50575 After holding both the Mossberg 500 and the Remington 870 side by side, the 870 just felt like the tolerances weren't as good and it felt cheaper built, it also rattled, and I figured something shooting a 12 gauge round shouldn't rattle like that. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and it's also a fun gun to shoot pumpkins and watermelons with when you have the urge of destruction! You can run anything from birdshot to 3" magnum rifled slugs thru it and it holds up to 8 shots (of 2 3/4" shells) In my opinion, it really is hard to beat.
5. Like Hickok45 said, "You can't go wrong with a Glock 19" The Gen4 Glock 19 was my first firearm purchase ever, and it's still one of my favorites... I've now dedicated it as my competition gun, and put Truglo sights on it, and upgraded the trigger to a ZEV. I know it's not the best choice for competition, but it's served me well.
6. Wear some kind of recoil pad.... they kick worse than a mule

9. I bought one last year off of gunbroker for around 700, and I have yet to shoot it... for me it's more of a decorative piece. However, it's in good condition and is shootable, I just haven't taken it out to the range yet. As far as what to look for.... Look down the barrel with a tiny flashlight and make sure there isn't any rust or pits from rust.... make sure there are no splits in the wood, and make sure everything locks up tight with the firing mechanisms... Not sure if there are "matching serial numbers" because I think they're just stamped at one place.... also if the Springfield engraving on the side is in good condition (you can read it all) then that helps the value as well... I am by no means an expert, but that's just the things I looked for when buying mine... I posted pictures of mine www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/40366-springfield-model-1873/ Hope this helps
10. I held and dry fired one yesterday... it's a neat design... I like how slim it is (which makes it easier to conceal) I like the price, and i like the sights... it felt kind of funny in my hand, as i'm used to a thicker glock, and the trigger is a little stiff for my liking (although the pull is smooth and the break seems crisp) the safety is there if you want to use it, but not in the way if you don't want to use it. Seems like a solid built gun and a good design, but for now, I'm sticking with my Glock 26... if anybody wants to know where i held it, private message me, and i'll give you the name, number, and address of the place... that's if they didn't sell it today
11. I don't know much about handmade knives, but I know good work when I see it! After doing a little browsing on etsy.com, I found some knives that I just had to buy! The first one I got from www.bloodrootblades.com http://www.tumblr.co...7k21Hql01r1pilc This thing is awesome. It's super sharp and is a perfect size for everyday carry. I can't attest to it's ability to hold an edge because I haven't put it through it's paces yet, but it's made from a Nicholson file, so it should be decent steel. I'm equally impressed with the sheath as I am the knife itself. Very well made, and a perfectly snug fit. My second knife, I got from a guy up in Michigan. He doesn't have a website, but here is a picture of it. http://img1.etsystat...N.324997241.jpg I can't tell my opinions of it yet, but it's suppose to arrive tomorrow! If you want to check out his stuff, here is a link to his etsy page. http://www.etsy.com/...ref=seller_info Anyways, check these guys out and see what you think. I love functional pieces of art

S&W M&P 15X

My first AR shooting experience was a very pleasant one indeed. I was surprised at how easy it was to hit targets at 100-150 yards without any problems at all. It was almost like if I put the front post anywhere on the target, I was hitting it... I never realized how forgiving the peep sight is. I'm pleased with my setup and I can't wait to attach a Eotech in the future

CZ 527

BTW, the IDPA target was at about 150-160 yards when I hit the down 1 area

CZ 527

So after almost 2 months of owning the CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39mm.... I finally got to shoot it today! Overall, I'm impressed with both the round and the rifle. I haven't put any kind of scope on it yet (due to lack of funds) but I was able to hit my targets without problems... I was shooting steel torso targets, and 12" square targets ranging from 100-150 yards.... Then I shot at an IDPA cardboard target, and was able to hit 4 out of 5 shots within the down 1 area... which I think is pretty good for not having a scope. For me, it kicks just enough to know you're shooting a rifle, but it doesn't push you around. And with the CZ 527 being so light, I could shoot it all day without too much fatigue on my front arm. I did notice that after 25-30 rounds, the ammo wasn't loading in the chamber quite as smooth (i'm guessing because it was getting dirtier) but that's not really a huge deal. If anybody wants to know anything else about my experience, just let me know

S&W M&P 15X

My Tapco wrench just came in the mail today, and I tapped it with a rubber mallet and it loosened right up! It's amazing what you can do when you have the proper tools... got it attached with no problems after getting that off! Thanks for all the help! By the way, is the M&P 15 considered a mil spec? Or commercial? What's the difference?

S&W M&P 15X

I'm looking to buy my very first AR, and I think I've decided on the S&W M&P 15X... I looked at the 15 sport model, but it seemed like a very basic model, and the 15X has some of the upgrades I like. What are your thoughts? Anyone have a 15X?
24. So I'm thinking about getting a Thureon Defense 9mm carbine rifle, but I didn't know if I would be able to use it as my rifle if I were to do the 3 Gun competition. In the competition I would be doing, it states that anything with a power factor (PF) of 150k or higher will work. I didn't know if anybody had done a chrono test on the Thureon Carbine or not... I love that they accept Glock mags, and I love that it shoots 9mm, but I don't want to spend the money on one and then have to also buy a .223 AR as well, just to shoot 3 Gun... Should I just stick with a .223 AR and forget about the Thureon until later?
