I bought the tiniest box of ammo I've ever bought yesterday....

Any IMR SR4756 powder, or is that one a hard one to come by?

RUGER GP100, no magazines to keep up with, no failures to feed... can shoot 357 mag or 38 special...  can be used for home defense, vehicle defense, concealed carry, trail gun or even for hunting (if need be)...   easy to clean and maintain...  what else do you need?

I guess we better start with a Winnebago, and cover it in armor plate...

My father was lobbing in shots with his 9mm Just Right Carbine at 500 yards the other day!      The convinence of the JR Carbine and your Glock taking the same magazines is awesome, and is really fun at the range, but it's hard to beat the power of the AR...  I'd say if you can afford both, then do both, but to me, going to get your wife from work to save her from "civil unrest" seems like something out of a movie....     I think of having an AR as more of a choice for home defense, as I don't plan on getting out and about where all the madness would be happening... 

I hope it gets fixed soon.... I want to shoot it

Here's pictures of my little cannon.... I took some pictures to show how thick the barrel walls are. And don't worry, the little cannonballs cannot fit down the bore and nothing will be used as a projectile.... they are only for decoration. The only thing else it needs is a little American flag. It was a fun project P.S. Sorry for my crappy sign making, but my hands aren't as steady as they once were

Personally, I use my GP100 as a plinking gun, and have a Hogue grip on it because it's more comfortable to me.  But the Hogue makes for a bulkier gun if I was to use it for my carry gun, it's harder to conceal...   I like the look of the grips that came with it from the factory (with the wood inset) but the Hogue shoots better for me.....   I guess it's a good thing changing the grips isn't too hard :-)

I shall be very safe/careful/ and tedious in my making ammo....   I'm a compounding pharmacy technician, so I know the importance, and dangers of even the tiniest mistakes.    One more question while it's on my mind.    Primer pockets.....    How do you clean them?   Because you're suppose to tumble/clean the brass before reloading, but you don't actually take out the old primer until it's already on the progressive press to reload....  so is it better to run each piece of brass through a depriming rig before cleaning them in an ultrasonic cleaner or tumbling them?   Or is this a step that is only needed for precision rifle rounds?

I've been thinking about starting to reload for the past few years, but it got put on the back burner when all the primers/supplies got so hard to find during the ammo shortage we just went thru....  Now that I'm seeing powders and stuff come back on the shelves, I've started my research back up...      I have yet to buy a press, although I'm leaning towards the Dillon xl650....      I'm planning on loading mostly 9mm, .357 mag, and then maybe some 45 acp.  Then once I get comfortable loading handgun calibers, I may step up to .223 and 7.62x39.    I'm slowly building my arsenal of reloading equipment, got an ultrasonic cleaner today, and I've been collecting little things like digital calipers, bullet pullers, scales, sorting bins, and got my workbenches built and ready for a press.     My questions for you all right now, are what kind of reloading manuals would you recommend getting?   I wasn't sure if one brand was better or more thorough than others.....   I also didn't know if these manuals usually cover a wide span of different powders or if each powder company made their own manuals...      I also was wondering if dies for presses are universal or if they'll only work on certain presses...  For instance, if I get the Dillon press, will I be able to use Lee or RCBS dies with it.... Also, right now, I'll probably be using Alliant powders....  but again, I haven't bought anything....   

Even though it's made of brass, it's a solid chunk of brass, and the walls are thick, I'll measure the actual thickness in a little while.   For now, I think i'm gonna take some of my GOEX BP 45-70 cartridges apart with a bullet puller whenever I feel like firing the canon... as I should be able to get enough powder out of each cartridge to fire it twice....  and that way I don't have to have a full can of BP just sitting around.  

I'll bring you some 124 gr ammo!!!

A few Christmases ago, I got one of these brass signal canons http://www.brooks-usa.com/id4.html, but I have yet to shoot it because I haven't gotten any black powder for it yet.   With reloading powders being scarce, and me not knowing anything about different powders, I was wondering if I would be ok using black powder substitute in it.   I'm guessing the substitute is less volatile, and seeing that I wouldn't be using much of it, I didn't want a big can of black powder sitting around in my house if it's more likely to explode....    I'll be using around 30 grains per shot, and no projectile of course.  Just for celebrations mainly.      So school me on powders.

Seems like a racket to me... if the SHTF, I can think of much better ways to be spending an hour of my time than reloading a couple 22lr

I have one, love it, hits everything I aim at....  if you can find one at  a good price, pick it up!  It really is as good as a $1,000+  1911

It's weird, because everything I read says that if the serial number is below 113000, it's a first model, 22 short only.....  but mine is 111000 range and it's 22s/l/lr....    Also, it seems one of the previous owners tried to carve his name in the stock... it's hard to make out but it looks like "MR KL-IC"   I don't know what name that would be, but that just adds to the intrigue of it's history... 

So, I walked into my local gun store, and I couldn't walk out with out it.... Winchester Model 06 22S/L/LR The stock has seen better days, but not horrible since it was made in 1907-1908 (I'm finding debating information according to the serial number) Hopefully I'll get to plink a few cans when it stops raining!

I haven't had any problems with my SR1911, buy my father's SR22 seems to be having a problem... it doesn't load the 2nd round...     It loads the first round... fires, but doesn't load the 2nd.... then after you rack the slide again... the rest of the mag shoots fine... Very peculiar

Not bad at all... I like the color of stain...  is it mostly 3/4 plywood?  The pipe fittings are a nice touch, and make for an interesting design

The dowels are in there pretty tight and it's not easy to open and close, probably because I drilled the holes with a hand drill instead of a drill press, so they're a little cock-eyed, but I like the stiffness it's created to keep it open :-)
