Where to find a Mosin 91/30
LCPfraTN replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I still think we will never see the prices of several years ago again. We might see $150 Mosins again at some point, but the days of sub $100 Mosins are forever gone. IMHO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Where to find a Mosin 91/30
LCPfraTN replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Well, I was a little under on pricing. I just received an email from Classic Firearms and they have a new shipment. Oh My! The pricing starts at $175 per rifle if you buy them by the crate and they go up in price from there. You do get to choose manufacturer and receiver type. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
What can I say that hasn't already been said? It's beautiful! The wood is just stunningly beautiful. [emoji7] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You didn't just get a good deal...you stole that thing! Congrats on a great buy! Of course it didn't happen unless we see some pictures. This thread should also be moved to the C&R section. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Where to find a Mosin 91/30
LCPfraTN replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I think that is correct. If Putin would ever straighten up, and sanctions get lifted from Russia, we could possibly see an influx of them again, but I still think prices for a 91/30 will remain closer to $150 or more OTD and will likely not go down much as long as cheap surplus ammo remains available. The only badmouthing I can agree with about Hi Points is that they are ugly and heavy...everything else about them is positive in my book. Ok, higher capacity mags would be nice. [emoji4] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I actually own a .327 Fed Mag SP101 3" that I got for a steal after the fever died down from the initial introduction and they sort of went out of favor...it wasn't too long after that when Ruger quit making them. The selfish side of me hopes they don't make a 3" again, so the value of mine will stay up. [emoji4] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The CMP recently announced that they had a few IHC M1 Garand Rifles that would be available for order and a small quantity of Field Grade rifles would be placed in the CMP stores on Thursday 3/19. I happened to be near the South Store on Saturday and decided to stop by when the store opened to see if any of the IHC rifles were still available. There were only about a dozen or so left, but I was able to pick one out from the leftovers that was actually pretty nice for a Field Grade. It has a few minor dings (a little bit of character) but still looks good overall. Someone apparently tried to remove the rack number, so I may give the stock a BLO scrub to make that look a little better. The metal looks very nice with only a few very small light rust spots. And the barrel measurements are MW 2+ and TE 3+. I think I'll keep it. [emoji3] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Garufa already posted the answer that I was going to give. Buy enough of whatever caliber you need at one time from AIM and the shipping cost will be no more than the tax you'd pay per box anyway. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

My first Mosin-Nagant Model 1944
LCPfraTN replied to Richard995's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I prefer one of the PAST shoulder pads that peejman posted a link to. I wear them under a loose fitting shirt and over a t-shirt. They come in different thicknesses. The link above is for the thickest one, but I will also use a thinner one if I'm not going to be shooting more than 20 rounds or so. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Dolomite, Jimenez does not have the same durability and customer service reputation that Hi Point does. I'm a fan of the smaller caliber pistols up to .32 acp, but the .380 and 9mm pistols are known to suffer the occasional frame or slide crack when shot a lot, so I'd stick with Hi Point if you want a cheap large caliber range gun. Yep, they are ugly and heavy, but accurate and reliable. I only have a carbine at this time, but have had pistols in the past just to see if they were as bad as a lot of people want to say they are...and they aren't. I was amazed at their accuracy and never had a single hiccup with them. Sold mine after a while to friends that shot them and liked them more than I did since I never did get past the ugly and the weight. [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Patton, those two model 45 revolvers are gorgeous! Thanks for the link, but I think I must just admire them from afar...in pictures. [emoji6][emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You're obviously a little biased toward EAs and they admittedly specialize in tax. [emoji6] However, CPAs generally specialize in tax or accounting/audit and their training and experience is significant. So, if someone needs assistance with taxes by all means look to a CPA or an EA before using one of the chain tax services. If you want to prepare your tax return yourself, I suggest buying one of the tax software products and loading it on your computer rather than using the online versions for privacy protection reasons. The more expensive software has a lot more helpful tools and interview style of questions, but if your return is simple or you've been preparing by hand in the past, Tax Act is a simple, low cost, but sufficiently robust tax prep package that will get the job done. Don't throw that stock away. It is probably repairable. If you want to see a master stock refurbisher at work, check out Candyman's stickies on the Surplus Firearms Forum. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I'm a Pachmayr fan too, but I prefer the Gripper grips. I have small hands and have these on my model 64 square butt revolver. http://pachmayr.com/home/gripper-grids.php Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

As the others have said, the 686 is almost always going to be more valuable than a 19. I have nice examples of both revolvers and I definitely had to spend more to get my 686. So, I would expect to receive some cash in the trade if I was trading a 686 for a model 19. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
