The SR22 is the fun winner in my book. I also have a Ruger MKI, two MKIII 22/45s and an S&W 22A. All of them are more accurate at longer distances than the SR22, partly because they all have longer barrels, but the smaller SR22 is just a lot of fun. It is lighter and easier to handle than the others that I mentioned, but you can't go wrong with any of them. They are all reliable and eat any ammo that you feed them.

That was one hell of an introduction to the forum....great pictures! Welcome!
-
Congrats on your new pistol...as someone else previously stated, they were all good options, but the G19 was probably the most economical choice.

I agree with some of the others recommendations for the P238, CM9 and LCP. I'd go with the Beretta 21A Bobcat for a small .22 LR choice, just use quality HV ammo in it. A pricey choice that is designed for specific ammo is the Seecamp LWS-32, or the really pricey LWS-380. The Seecamps are made of very high quality materials and beautiful craftsmanship. There are really small mouse guns available in .25 acp, but most are older pistols, such as Bauer, PSA, the original Baby Browning, the Colt Junior and the old vest pocket pistols. Finally, there are the lower priced, and arguably lower quality pistols made by Jimenez, Cobra and Phoenix (these can be fun and reliable pistols with the right perspective). Good luck with your search.

That's quite a hog leg you got there......weighs about as much too!

Now you've done gone and made me drool all over myself! That pistol is beautiful. I need a pair of those grips for mine. Where did you get them? I'm also looking forward to seeing your homemade ones when they are finished.

For comfortable shooting grips, I'd get the Hogue Wraparound Rubber Grips. That's what I have on mine and they are awesome! See the attached link to MidwayUSA. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/360341/hogue-wraparound-rubber-grips-with-finger-grooves-sig-p239-black

I think someone definitely likes Glocks! I believe the Gen 4 recoil spring issue will be long forgotten in a few years. Glock appears to have taken the issue seriously and the Gen 4s are now fairly hard to find. I have a Gen4 23 and have been considering getting a Gen4 19 or 17 since I got my 23, but haven't seen many lately in the LGSs.

Very nice. I picked one up recently from AIM Surplus....its in really nice shape, but not quite that nice. Great job!

M&P9c would be my choice. I don't have one...went with the Ruger SR9c instead, but it was a very close call, and price won out.

The C&R license allows you to buy C&R eligible firearms without having to go through an FFL dealer. So it saves you money on transfer fees and also gives you dealer pricing with companies such as MidwayUSA and Brownells.

My shiny new C&R license arrived in the mail today.

+1 on AIM Surplus and Midway making it very easy to set up an account and submitting your C&R license. I wish other sites, like J&G made it easier. I still haven't set up an account or bought from J&G because they make it a PITA....they are selling on the internet but won't except submissions via the internet. What's up with that? Midway does still have some pretty good dealer discounts on a lot of things. I know I've saved more than the cost of my license on Midway purchases in the 6 months since I received my license. AIM just has a lot of good prices. I've bought three C&R pistols/revolvers from them and lots of ammo. -
Hey earlybird, Congrats on the new pistol....looks very interesting, and very creative work with the magazines! I'm still enjoying that Walther that I bought from you.
-
I think the OP has plenty to choose from in the pistols and revolvers mentioned. Many good choices within all budget ranges. I have several of those mentioned (revolvers and pistols) in the <$600 price range and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite.
-
I have an all black one. Its a great little pistol. I can't help you on your question about the holster or laser sight, but I do recommend the pistol.

The Raven is one of the most reliable of the so called "ring of fire" Saturday Night Special pistols. I own quite a few of them. Your pistol is the last version that was manufactured by Phoenix Arms after the Raven Arms company went out of business. Here is a link to a forum that will provide all the info you need about Ravens...enjoy. http://www.bryco-jennings-jimenezarms.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=19

My sentiments exactly, and because of this, I do support some sort of safety training requirement or other proof of having some safe gun handling knowledge. No different than the requirements to prove you know how to safely drive a car (whether you do or not is another issue) or understand hunting safety, etc. I am in disagreement with everything else that True Grit has stated. If we made certain that all gunowners were aware of proper gun handling and safety, then there shouldn't be the need for most other gun laws. If you commit a crime or do something as stupid as the gunowner in the story that started this thread, then you should be punished, but don't punish the rest of us with stupid laws that the bad guys are going to ignore anyway. I just think if we focused on the safe handling aspect of gunownership, everything else would take care of itself (wishful thinking on my part). It does bother me when I see someone at a gun shop looking to buy their first gun, and it is clear by their comments and questions that they have absolutely no idea how to handle any gun, yet they can buy it if they pass the background check. (Don't get me started about the background check. That just makes the bad guys look elsewhere to find their guns.) I'd feel better if a first time gun buyer had to at least show some knowledge of gun safety and operation. After that, you can't fix stupid.

I'm probably in trouble thanks to you guys

+1 for AIM. I've bought C&R pistols/revolvers from them as well as ammo. They have great prices, are very easy to deal with and make it easy to establish a C&R account. Many of their competitors infuriate me with their account set up process....they are online, yet they insist on snail mail to set up an account. I've also given up trying to establish an account with Century. -
I'd throw the Ruger SR9c in the mix as well. I chose it over the S&W M&P 9 compact because it felt better in my hands to me, but it was a very close call. The Glock 19 is also a nice pistol, and I may buy one someday, but it won't be because I love the way it feels in my hands. I know you can get a new SR9c for less than the Glock, and you can probably get the S&W M&P 9 compact for less too.

You're welcome, glad I could help.

Stick with standard velocity ammo in the HP22. The frame is very thin in some places and they are known to have frame cracking problems if you use excessive amounts of high velocity ammo in them. For the money (a little over $100), they are a great value and also pretty accurate for their size. If you do want to put a red dot on it check these out. http://www.bryco-jennings-jimenezarms.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7860&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 http://www.bryco-jennings-jimenezarms.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5210

I agree! I just haven't found the time ($$) to get my 19 yet.
-
Go with the LCP. It's a great little pistol. Ruger took the original idea and made it much better....something they are known for doing.

I agree with the above statement, and I will add that the model 60 will likely be a more enjoyable shooter because of the additional weight. I have a 60, but do not have an LCR....might get an LCR-22 someday though.
