  1. I don't have a 686, but I have owned a 66 2.5" for almost 30 years and will never part with it. It obviously doesn't shoot as well as my matching set of model 19 and 18 4" barrel revolvers, but I wouldn't expect it to. The 66, to me, is the perfect carry size .357 revolver and a decent shooter....and dare I say beautiful to look at. The only thing better might be the elusive 3" model 66. A 686 is also on my list to get some day, so like the others have said, I'd keep the 686 and buy the 66.
  2. Yeah, Glocks are like plastic toys that can pass through metal detectors undetected aren't they? They certainly should be taxed in a different class. I better not let my G23 hear about this...it might actually malfunction on me for the first time.
  3. I agree....Resident Aliens should have the same rights of gun ownership and carry privileges as US citizens. My Ball and Chain of almost 30 years, and also a Permanent Resident Alien, would agree even if she doesn't exercise that privilege.
  4. I think the Glock 23 is more versatile than the Glock 19, so I agree with the inclusion of the G23 in a top 5 list over the G19. For about $150 to $175 you can turn the G23 into a "G19" by adding a 9mm conversion barrel and a 9mm magazine. So...you can have your cake and eat it too!
  5. Thanks for the review. I really like my P238, and I am anxious to handle a P938, but haven't seen one in any of my LGSs yet. Congrats on your new pistol!
  6. I see I'm getting the same non-answers as the OP....guess that's how ya'll run your post counts up. Â
  7. TGO David indicated in another thread that the system settings require 250 posts before you can change the member title on your own. So, the question regarding when the system changes a member from "TGO Newcomer" to "TGO Member" status is still not answered.
  8. I don't believe the OP ever really got an answer. I'm curious too. I was guessing that with the change to the new software that the trigger was 100 posts. However, I see some members with less than 75 posts that are considered "members," while I've also noticed members with around 125 posts that are still listed as a "newcomer".
  9. It's hard to beat the looks of a revolver in a deep blue finish with nice wood grips....like this one:
  10. Yes, the top one is the .25 LWS model. They originally came with the matte finish. I think the Seecamp factory will polish them up if you send them in for repairs or if you just want the polished finish. I may get the .380 LWS model at some point, but I would like to shoot one first because I have also read that the recoil is pretty severe. However, the .32 LWS model isn't as snappy as my LCP and I don't have any problems shooting it. In fact, even with the itty bitty sights and my old eyes, I still think I shoot my LCP pretty good. Now, I don't want to shoot it all day either, but that's not what any of these pistols were made for. The Seecamp still beats the LCP on size though, so if you really want a nice mousegun, the Seecamps are the ticket.
  11. Added a .32 to go with my .25 recently. The .25 is just a collector piece, although I do shoot it occasionaly. Can you tell which is which?
  12. Great pics....really like the black and white!
  13. I can see the G23 and the PM9 (actually the CM9 is a more likely choice) being on the list. The Sig and HK are nice, but pricey, so they wouldn't be in my top 5 (I have 2 Sigs and love them, and might put my P238 in my personal top 5). And a J-frame or something similar like the LCR needs to be on there for the wheelgun crowd (I guess I'm in that crowd too). The big miss in my opinion, which was already mentioned above, is the LCP or something similar.
  14. Yeah, that little $30 fee is going to cost you a lot of money. I'm pretty sure I set up my account with Brownells entirely via email....otherwise I wouldn't have an account there.
  15. A 1911 in 9mm is definitely on my buy list one of these days. Now I see that I can make it two pistols in one.
  16. I think the new tactical carbines actually look pretty cool and I like mine. I also had a Hi Point JHP .45acp pistol and it was 100% reliable the entire time that I owned it. I finally sold it to a friend that was going to get more use out of it than me since I tended to grab my 1911 when I felt like burning cash by shooting .45acp ammo.
  17. It's not quite that simple. Why should an out of state online vendor be forced to comply with another state's (such as TN) arcane sales tax laws and bear the burden (actual time and material cost) of collecting that state's tax when they have no physical presence in the state? TN has made significant efforts to try and get out of state vendors to collect sales tax when they can prove an out of state business has a presence in the state. Some states have taken some rediculous and aggressive positions and have probably cost their state more in the long run than they will ever gain on a net basis....but try to convince a politician or government bureaucrat of that.
  18. Oh boy.....long list. S&W Ruger Sig Sauer Kahr Glock Beretta Seecamp Colt Walther Taurus H&R CZ Radom High Standard Heritage Arms FIE Phoenix Arms Raven Arms Bryco Arms Jennings Jimenez Armi Tanfoglio Giuseppe Sterling Lorcin Sundance RG/Rohm Nagant
  19. Midway, Brownells and AIM Surplus all allow you to send your C&R license as a pdf file to them. Just sign a copy of your C&R license and scan it to create the signed pdf file copy and either upload or email your C&R license to them. Most of the others still require snail mail unless they have changed their policies recently....makes no sense to me but apparently dinosaurs are running those other companies.
  20. As others have already said, try to shoot as many different pistols as possible if you can before you choose. Unfortunately, choosing just one pistol is going to be very hard...there are so many good choices out there. Goodluck! For what it's worth, I think the Ruger SR9c is a great value, but I also like Sig, Glock, S&W.....etc.
  21. Stopped by Avery Outdoors today. I think that they have a better selection of reloading stuff than anyone else in Memphis. I don't know how they compare to Sportsman's Warehouse down in Mississippi, but they have more of most things than Bass Pro Shops or Guns & Ammo...although Bass Pro may have a larger selection of loading presses and tumblers.
  22. They had a selection of powder, bullets and primers the last time I was in there, although they were out of regular small pistol primers.

    Beretta jetfire?

I already have more .25 acp pistols than I need, but if I didn't, I would definitely consider the Phoenix HP25. Actually, I might get one someday anyway, just not on the top of my list right now.

    Beretta jetfire?

I also have one of the older versions without the safety. I'd recommend a Beretta over any other .25 that is currently made. I'm not impressed with the Taurus models that I have looked at and the Phoenix is going to be bigger and heavier, but I do like the Phoenix .22LR pistol for what it is for me...a fun plinker.
  25. Feeling the need to compensate for something you are.
