    They do exist

Well, looks like Ruger is finally getting caught up a little bit on the SR1911 backlog. Picked one up at Guns & Ammo in Memphis for $669 plus the mandatory $10. I couldn't believe it when the tag didn't have "demo only" on it like they have had for the last year while using the only one they had to accept deposits. They said they had received quite a few, so get 'em before they are gone again.
  2. My nickel PT-22 has been flawless since I acquired it used. I've put over 200 rounds of Federal bulk ammo through it without cleaning, and still not a single problem. For the money, they are great little pistols.
  3. Just seems odd when I see many others with less than 100 posts that are classified as TGO Members. I try to post when I have something meaningful to say rather than just trying to increase my post count. I thought you wanted meaningful discussion on this forum rather than some of the meaningless drivel that goes on that you recently chastised on another thread.
  4. Guess I'll be a TGO Newcomer until I have 250 posts since there doen't appear to be an automatic threshold that changes that status to TGO Member anymore.
  5. I am liking the looks of 622s/422s more and more, especially with nice wood stocks. I think I may be adding one or more to my collection before long. Of course the 41 is even higher on my wish list, but I just can't seem to get off my wallet for a 41 yet.
  6. Received my HCP today....took a little over two weeks from the date of application and fingerprinting.
  7. +1 on that. Maybe someone with one of these Bobergs should consider adding a guest review to the the old mouseguns.com website.
  8. The Boberg is definitely different. Not sure I'm there yet, but the look is growing on me, and if the performance is there, I could become a convert.
  9. I think South Carolina recently changed their law, so Bud's probably needs to update their prohibited state list and remove SC. Accordingly, I believe the regular Heritage can be sold there now....doesn't really matter for us in TN, but thought I'd add that.
  10. Here's my list of handgun calibers: .22 LR .22 Magnum .25 ACP .32 ACP .380 ACP 9x18 Makarov 9mm .38 Special .357 Magnum .40 S&W .45 ACP 7.62 x 38R (7.62 Nagant)
  11. I agree with everything stated above except it isn't easy to find a High Standard Sentinel for less than $200 anymore. High Standard also made a western style nine shot revolver known as the "Double Nine" that was also double action, hence the name "Double Nine." The exception to the $200 price point in the H&R 900 series revolvers would be the model 999 Sportsman. A very fine revolver, but priced accordingly if in good condition. And for the money, the HP22A pistol by Phoenix is hard to beat. It may not last forever, but the warranty is great and cheap enough that you could buy two.
  12. All I can say is Semper Fi....applies even to the choice of sidearm. I carried a 1911 when I was a mortar squad leader in the late 70's and loved that gun. I later carried a S&W model 10 as a Marine Security Guard on Embassy Duty...I have loved Smith revolvers ever since.

    Trade or no trade

I also say no, but I also don't agree that you'd be getting a pistol that is close to the same size as the P238 with the Shield....the Shield is quite a bit larger to me. I do like the Shield 9mm, but not as a pocket gun. I think it would make a great IWB gun.

    "Glock Haters"

I don't think all of their models "suck." I will concede that some of their models are problematic. In fact, most of those manufacturers had certain models that were very problematic. They were made of materials that sometimes couldn't handle larger calibers the way they were designed, especially if a lot of rounds were fired through them. The early RG .22 revolvers were certainly extremely low quality, but the later RG models were much better and decent little plinkers. The Bryco and Jennings .22lr and .25acp pistols are actually decent little shooters for the money. Again, that phrase is the key thing to remember...."for the money." That's not to say that they run flawlessly, and they may be ammo picky, but I have much more expensive pistols that occasionaly have hiccups and are also ammo picky. I guess I just don't expect as much from these little inexpensive pistols, and I have actually been surprised how good they can sometimes be. Although they certainly aren't intended to be range pistols, I know a guy that put over 14,000 rounds through a Jimenez JA-22 pistol (successor to the Bryco and Jennings J-22 pistols) before it needed to repaired by the factory. For a pistol that costs a little over $100, that is pretty impressive.
  15. S&W and Ruger make great revolvers as others have stated, and I have a few from both makers. I think the OP meant that Rossi makes a decent revolver for the money....I'll say that I've had some nice Rossis and some that weren't so nice. Generally I'd say they are a good value, but don't expect to get a Smith or Ruger action right out of the box...although you might find some that are pretty good.

"Precious" is not the first word that comes to my mind to describe a 64oz revolver.....

I have been thinking of getting one at some point, not because I think it fills a need, but a want. You also get the ability to shoot a lot of lower recoil options through it in .32 caliber, and if you reload that can make it a fun alternative.

    "Glock Haters"

I don't hate Glocks. I am a Glock owner and will buy more Glocks in the future. For all the reasons stated in the video, they are great pistols. However, Glocks don't win any beauty contests, and I believe some of the Glock fanboy crowd brings on some of the "hate". You know the comments I'm talking about..."why would you or did you buy that? You should have bought a Glock." There are many quality pistols made by companies other than Glock, and people do get annoyed by some of the Glock fanboy crowd that pooh-pooh anything other than Glock, so they become vocal like the Glock fanboys. I make fun of Glocks (all in jest) just to see whether I can bring out the fanboys in defense, but deep down I really like them. However, there are some pistols and revolvers that I love as works of art, and reliability and function, but they aren't Glocks.
  20. Now isn't that what you really wanted us to do anyway? Congrats on a very nice revolver.
  21. Is it perhaps someone's attempt to improve the looks of a Glock? My G23 is sure to malfunction on me now.

Semi-autos are nice, and obviously give you more ready firepower, but there's nothing like a smooth action wheelgun.
  23. How will I be able to identify your booth/table in Memphis?
  24. Hey, that looks familiar!
