AIM Surplus has the M44 back in stock now for a little less $ than Widener's. AIM's shipping cost is usually a little less too. I just ordered my first M44 from them yesterday. :pleased: http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F3M44

I was trying to make the same decision between the same two pistols. I was able to look at both of them at my LGS and actually liked the trigger on the P95 better than the PT809. That, together with the overall reputation of Ruger, and the P95 in general, swayed me to get the P95, but I do like the looks and ergonomics of the PT809. The P95 was also a good bit cheaper than the PT809, which made the decision even easier. I think the PT809 is probably a good pistol, but there was just not enough information out there about it from actual owners, so I decided to go with the tried and true choice....the Ruger P95.

My only Glock is a 23 and it's also my only .40. I initially had no interest in Glocks or .40s, and then I shot my friend's G22 and I couldn't believe how comfortable it was to shoot, and of course it was also very accurate. Next thing I knew I was standing in my favorite LGS one day when a guy traded in an almost new G23 gen 4, and I was able to get it for a very good price. It's not quite as smooth a shooter as the G22, but I like it. I recently picked up a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel for it but haven't had a chance to try it...figured that was a lot cheaper than getting a G19 and allows me to shoot lead if I want to.

Not shipping to a C&R license holder
LCPfraTN replied to Symbolic's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
When I see "No Shipping to C&R FFL" I take my business elsewhere.
+1 on that. Sometimes it might be cheaper for me to actually send it to one of my local FFL dealers due to the different shipping method costs required, but if a dealer isn't going to even be rational about the C&R classification and be willing to work with a C&R holder, I'm not going to do business with that dealer. I see this quite a bit on GB, and I think it ultimately reduces the sales prices that these dealers could otherwise get just because it annoys C&R holders like me that aren't going to do business with them. Another type of dealer that I won't do business with are the ones that insist on receiving by snail mail, an originally signed copy of my C&R license or my FFL dealers license. I mean, come on, if your selling on the internet, you need to join the 21st century and learn that FAX and PDF file copies are acceptable forms of FFL license transmission. -
Saw this and thought I'd give the Mosin collectors out there a heads up. http://www.aimsurplu...x?item=X9130Set
Well, my real concern here is her ability to load her own magazines. I'm also not sure if her accuracy issue with my G22 was a result of the larger caliber or the fact that it's not a revolver (less moving parts). She also didn't seem as comfortable about holding the G22 as opposed to the Rossi revolver.
The PK380 single action trigger will make it much easier for her to shoot it accurately. I still think you should give serious consideration to it since you know she likes it. The Sig p238 that was mentioned is also a good choice, but will cost you. The recoil of the p238 will also be a little snappier than the PK380, but not as snappy as your P3AT. Let the .380 bashing continue.

Well, no one has talked about the PK380 that the OP said his GF liked, so I'll add my . The PK380 is a sweet shootin', very accurate pistol. My son used it when he took his carry permit class since his pocket .380 is harder to shoot at some of the longer distances required in the class. Anyway, he was so impressed with it that he'd love to have one ....he just wished they made it in 9mm since he is wanting a range gun.
Holy cow...I have the identical twin of that gun....it is a great shooter. It would take quite an obscene amount of money for me to ever part with mine. The grips alone are worth over $100 if they are factory S&W
It's one of my favorites too. I had to have it when I found it in a LGS about a year ago...and yes, it's all factory and wasn't cheap.
-
I don't have any of the revolvers in question, but have a few of their predecessors. Don't rule out something like this S&W Model 17 with 8 3/8" full underlug barrel.

Has to be my Kahr K9. I have quite a few pistols, but everytime I pick up my K9, I remember why I bought it in the first place...the trigger's pretty nice too.

Gotta pay with cash to get that price though. They don't haggle much on their prices, but they do the cash discount sale deal most of the time...they give you the sales tax discount off of their prices, but don't absorb it all since they aren't paying any credit card fees. Sometimes their prices appear high because they build assumed cash discounts into their prices. This was a case where their starting price was good, and cash made it even better.

That is pretty cool! I wish the pics were in color, but even in black & white it looks good. I had a Hi Point JHP .45 for a while, and shot it quite a bit when I first got it, but after the newness wore off I didn't shoot it much and it took up valuable space in my safe, so I sold it to a friend who wanted it more than I did. They aren't the prettiest guns to look at, but they are accurate and reliable...and this treatment does make them look pretty cool anyway.

I bought one at Guns & Ammo in Memphis a few months ago for $679 OTD, and they said they had quite a few in stock. For a long time they only had a sales demo model available that they used to take deposits on orders with no guarantee of delivery timing. They carry a lot of inventory, so they have them while other stores still don't, but they are clearly more available than they have been.

Congrats on the new SR9c. I have one, and it shoots as good as any other 9mm that I have ever shot. I always recommend it if someone asks me for a 9mm pistol recomendation.

Refinishing Mosin: *Updated with pics*
LCPfraTN replied to a topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Here's a link to a long thread that discusses the techniques used by the Finns...I don't believe the OP on the linked thread has any free pine tar left at this point. This may not be exactly how you want to refinish your Mosin, but it still has a lot of good information. http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=182&t=88297 -
I think Caster guessed it.
-
I think you should be OK with lead bullets in all of the pistols you are talking about, especially if you load lighter target loads.
-
I love mine, and its a fun gun to shoot, but it does seem to like the hotter stuff better than some of the bulk ammo.
-
Lest we all forget, The SP101 also comes in .22LR, .38 special and .327 federal magnum flavors and several different barrel lengths.
-
My only H&R revolver is also a model 999 Sportsman that looks very similar to the one above....beautiful gun and their values have skyrocketed. H&R mostly made very utilitarian guns at very economical prices, but they were still fairly well made. The question above regarding Rohm/RG and clones in comparison to H&R is like comparing night and day for the most part. The Rohm/Rg guns weren't made for long lasting reliability and most were not all steel like the H&R revolvers. The frames and outer barrels were made from a cheap zinc alloy and they don't hold up to much heavy use. The later Rohm/RG revolvers were a little better, but an H&R is almost always going to be the better gun.

I've had a G23 40 to 9 conversion barrel on backorder at Lone Wolf for almost six months. Every time the expected delivery date gets close they move it. When I first ordered it in early June, the expected delivery date was the end of June. Since then they have moved the date three or four times...they now expect delivery by 11/1/12....I'm not holding my breath. I understand they have great products, but their comunication with their customers sucks. They have yet to explain the delays or coummunicate with me about it. From what I've read this is common with them and has been going on for years.
-
That is definitely an odd gun...I can understand why not very many were made. Kind of neat for its uniqueness, but wouldn't be something I'd buy new. As a collector item....now that's a different matter.

As far as dealer availability goes, I picked one up from Guns & Ammo in Memphis a few weeks ago for $679 cash out the door. They said they had just received about a dozen in stock, so they are finally starting to become more available. I didn't wait since they have been unobtanium around here for quite a while, and Guns & Ammo really had them priced right. I'll let others with more range time with one, etc. reflect on their merits, but I've read mostly great things about them, especially when the price is considered. I still want an RIA mil-spec1911 just because they are also highly regarded for the money, but the SR1911 was higher on my want list, so it came first.

Nice collection there. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think guns and ammo ship together, so you'd probably have to pay separate shipping.
