Oh, I’m fully aware of that, but I got most of the C&R guns that I wanted through the surplus market years ago. The prices in the secondary market have gotten pricey, and many sellers don’t want to accept C&R licenses, so they force you to go through an FFL in order to buy from them anyway. I just got tired of messing with the hassle of it given the few purchases that I made after my last renewal, so I decided it was easier for me to just let my C&R license lapse. There’s not much that I want that I don’t already have that is C&R eligible, and if I find something from a local individual, I don’t have to worry about any of it (currently) in a face to face transfer between TN residents.

That’s why I let my C&R license lapse...just wasn’t enough use for it anymore.

If you are talking about Lorcin, Jennings and Davis pistols in calibers larger than .32acp, I agree with you, although Lorcins of any caliber can be problematic. The camouflage one in my collection pictures is one of the better Lorcin models made because the frame was made from an aluminum alloy instead of being made from zinc alloy like most Lorcins.

I’m guessing your father didn’t have a will with specific bequeaths regarding items like those pistols. Those that your father had were probably all steel guns too, unlike many of the ones made later in the USA that were manufactured using zinc alloy. Zinc alloy holds up ok with .22LR to .32acp calibers, but does not hold up well with higher calibers unless you bulk up the components like Hi-Point does with their brick style pistols.

I didn’t realize they had released any of their own whiskey yet. Obviously, this is a smaller than normal size barrel and still pretty young, but I’ll be on the lookout for this if it isn’t ridiculously priced.

I haven’t shot all of them, but I’ve shot at least one of most models. The Ravens, Jennings and Titans are fun little shooters. As you can see, much of the collection is made up of slight variations of the same model, such as the collection of Ravens. I will say that most of the pistols in those pictures are more reliable than the reputation that they have, which has been largely established by people that have never owned them or shot them much. Having said that, these aren’t meant to be all day range guns, and some of them are certainly better than others. I decided to only collect one of some of these gun brands, such as the Rohm revolver and the camouflage Lorcin. The models that I have of those two brands are some of the better models those companies built...most of their models deserve the crappy reputation that they have. Ravens, Jennings, Titans and several others in .25acp and .22LR calibers are actually pretty decent little guns for what they are, but they are just part of a novelty collection for me.

You could probably search back in the forum a few years back to find the pictures that I posted of my little obsession, but I’ll post them again here. I still have all of these as well as some better quality mouse guns in my collection.

I like it, but this core offering is a blend of several finished bourbons, so if you’re a fan of finished whiskey, you’ll probably like it...if you’re not a fan, then maybe not. Is it worth a C-note...probably not, but everything special or limited edition in bourbon these days is getting more expensive these days.

Yes, and I actually got lucky in a late December store raffle and was able to pick up a 2nd one at retail while earlier raffle winners passed it over and chose bottles like Weller Antique 107, Weller 12 or Elmer T Lee. I’m trading that one with a friend for some of his older Evan Williams Single Barrel vintages. The 130th is good, but I’ve had some Four Roses Single Barrel cask strength store picks that were probably better, especially when the price is taken into consideration...even at retail.

How did you like it? I had a taste of this during my Lux Row distillery tour last Spring, and liked it so much that I bought a bottle in the gift shop. I’ve picked up several more since then.

Haven’t posted in awhile, but thought I’d post some interesting purchases over the past few months. I fell deep down the Scotch, bourbon and rum rabbit hole a few years ago, and spend more time with that hobby lately than I do with guns.

I have quite a few Enfields, but this is my holy grail gun. I just never could bring myself to spend what they were bringing close to 10 years ago. Now I’m kicking myself for not getting off my wallet then, because all Enfields have gone up in price, especially the sniper rifles.

All of the 8mm Yugo Mausers that I’ve seen, and bought sight unseen, have been completely covered in cosmoline and very well preserved. Many of them have seen little use and/or were armory refurbished and covered in cosmoline for long term storage. If I didn’t already have two or three of them plus several other 8mm Mausers, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one of these...sight unseen (although the “fair” condition statement might give me cause to hesitate until I talked with someone at the retailer for clarification).

I haven’t made up my mind yet, but if I am going to submit paperwork, I know I need to do it soon. I carried a 1911 in the Marine Corps, so there is some nostalgia in owning a surplus military 1911, but I’ve got several 1911s already in different configurations, so I have to ask myself if I really need another safe queen. I’ve bought several M1 Garands from the CMP, but the requirements for purchasing the 1911s are more onerous. Most of the onerous requirements were mandated by politicians, but some were done just to appease anti-gun liberals...double background checks as one example.

The same kind of naive thinking that this couple exhibited is what causes so many other poor real life decisions by progressive liberals. I understand that they want the world to be a peaceful and loving place, and if I could clap my hands and make that happen, I’d do it. Unfortunately, we live in the real world, which is sometimes a brutal, ugly and unsafe place. If more people really understood that, we wouldn’t have so many anti-gun groups, illegal alien protectors and snowflakes that get their feelings hurt when someone says something they don’t like or don’t agree with. I wish this couple hadn’t died, but I have little sympathy for them. They intentionally put themselves in a dangerous situation to try and prove a point that they were naively wrong about. I have more sympathy for their friends and family that survive with the heartache and loss of a loved one. Perhaps if any good is to come from this, it is that maybe their death will change the hearts and minds of others and make them realize that the world really isn’t a peaceful and loving place and probably never will be...I think history should teach us that, but the snowflakes just want to erase history so they don’t learn from it.

UnderArmor stock also got hit today due to the decline in sales at Dick’s, which Fox Business News correctly attributed to the decline in customers at Dick’s after many customers started boycotting Dick’s stores because of their gun sale policy changes. Hey, this is what happens when you act like Dick’s!

I had one of these years ago. They are very reliable and shoot most any type of ammo. I got rid of it because I did get tired of all the safeties built into the design which are a pain in the ass. I’ve known some people that had frame crack issues along the slide area after many 1000s of rounds, but that’s not likely to ever be an issue for most folks.

You finally said something I can agree with, and is in line with what the others have been trying to tell you. Maybe this is what you meant to say from the get go, but it’s not what you were saying...thus all the push back. A few years ago it was much easier, but with the policy changes by UPS and FedEx, it’s much more difficult now. Of course many gun dealers have made it harder with their ridiculous transfer fees, but there are still quite a few FFL dealers that are fair with their fees and shipping costs if you look for them.

The Walther PK380 is a nice little pistol. It's big enough that a lot of the .380 recoil is minimized, and racking the slide is very easy. My daughter used mine several years ago when she got her HCP, and my Niece recently chose it as the first pistol that she ever shot. It's a very different magazine release, but works well once you get used to it.

It's a combination of things like that and the upright rifle stacking with butts in the snow during winter military exercises.

Nice rifles! It looks like the stocks have both been refinished with a semi-gloss finish, but they are still beautiful guns. I've been tempted to lightly refinish the stocks on my K-11 and one of my K-31s, but I haven't, even though the butts of the stocks show significant wear. I do have an armory refurbished K-31 that's a safe queen though, so that's another reason why I haven't touched the others.
