OhShoot almost got shot today, idiots don't need to own guns
LCPfraTN replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
If this is a private club, is anyone going to report this incident to get this idiot's membership revoked or a severe ass chewing and safety training? -
To say that your Dad did very well is an understatement!

I have enough that I don't feel pressured by the current craziness, and I haven't bought any ammo except for a couple of cases of 7.62x54R in the last 6 months. However, I don't feel comfortable enough to shoot much until the craziness subsides. So, I'm close to being well stocked from one perspective, but not from another. Those that are running short on ammo would probably still say that I'm well stocked, but I've only shot a few hundred rounds during the last few months to keep myself that way.

Lack of new imports does reduce the value somewhat since many people initially got a C&R license to reduce the acquisition costs on the multitude of lower priced milsurp imports that were once avaiable...and the discounts at many of the referenced merchants aren't as good as they used to be for C&R holders. Accordingly, I think the quick turnaround times that are now being seen for a C&R license issuance is pretty good evidence that not as many people see the value that was once perceived. Having said that, I'll probably renew mine when it comes up for renewal, but I can see why some people wouldn't renew or why some wouldn't bother getting one in the first place in the current environment.

Like all price "bubbles" this will eventually run its course and a lot of the "profiteers" or hoarders that have been willing to pay grossly inflated prices will likely get stuck with some high priced ammo that they take a loss on or regret purchasing. That is also part of the free market. Barring any further dumbass politicians' artificial stimulus, I think the tide is starting to turn and the ammo market will probably settle down somewhat by the end of the year. I haven't bought any ammo other than regular priced mil-surp stuff since last fall because I have decent supplies of ammo and reloading supplies. However, I haven't been shooting as much while I wait for the price craziness to subside. But, if I needed ammo and had to pay current prices, I'd do that to insure that I had some supply on hand. I had to pay the piper for the AK-47 that I bought in December because I had farted around trying to decide what I wanted to buy and where to get the best price for over a year. In the end, I bought one for about $300 over what I could have paid a month earlier because I didn't want to take the chance that I might not ever be able to purchase one if I waited any longer. I also paid a little more boot in trade to get a Mini-14 from a TGO member, but he had the currency that was worth more at the time than what I had in trade. Again, if I had waited, the purchase could have been made illegal by a law change, and I wasn't willing to take that chance. While my purchases of so-called "assault weapons" aren't completely analogous to the ammo price situation, some of the same free market forces are at work within the ammo market. If you don't need ammo, don't buy it. If you do need ammo, I wouldn't buy more than you need for a small supply or to use immediately, otherwise you may be stuck with high priced ammo...or maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part. :)

It's probably not taking as long because there likely aren't as many folks applying for C&R licenses these days since the supply of low-priced C&R guns seem to have dried up.

My Unicorns don't actually exist. A Ruger SP101 3" in .22LR and a Ruger LCP in .22LR :pleased: Of course an M1 Garand with a Danish Barrel, a 1911 from WW1 in excellent condition or a Browning Medalist in the case with all accessories would be nice too.

Nice rifle...I have got to get off my wallet and get one from CMP before they are no longer available.

Darn it...I missed out on that 3 inch too! I already have several 4 inch model 10s, but I would like to have a 3 inch. :(

Congrats on the "new to you" Mosin...it will likely not be your last. ;)

I had to be part of the Mosin gang

Getting your first Mil-surp rifle is like eating Lay's potato chips, you just can't stop at one. My friend Jim had good intentions when he introduced me to my first mil-surp...a Swiss K-11. I really liked it, and had to get one, but at the time I said I didn't ever see myself getting a Mosin Nagant...yeah, that worked out real well. I now own 2 round receiver 91/30s, one hex receiver 91/30, an M44 and a Finnish M39...so much for never getting a Mosin. :D -
Occasional sales are not subject to sales tax, so yard sales and flea market sales are not taxable unless you do that on a routine basis as a business. Most yard sale items are also sold at a price significantly below the original purchase price, so no income tax issue there either. Some of the other points are valid, but I guess I am somewhat concerned by comments from several posters that imply that its not OK to inform authorities when you think laws are being violated (obviously it is not OK if you have a a professional/ethical obligation not to inform, but rather to disengage) . I understand that everyone hates to pay taxes, and much of that has to do with concerens about government waste and tax fairness, but intentional tax cheating isn't the answer. However, reporting someone as a possible tax cheat merely based on sales activity that annoys you without knowledge of their business practices or whether they are in fact failing to report income and pay taxes is probably not the best thing to do either. :2cents:

Very sad...a huge loss to the shooting sports community. I saw his shooting exhibitions several times and he was facinating to watch. He will be difficult to replace.

What was this brand of 5.56 ammo selling for before the shortage? Dick's in Memphis had some for $9.99/box, but I passed on it. I have bought this brand before in pistol ammo and thought it was a commercial reload brand, but I could be wrong.

Very nice! -
It was last call, and i was bringing something home.

You got a great deal on that Raven. It's probably worth over $100, especially with the little holster that came with it. They are very reliable little pistols for what they are, just wish .25acp ammo was more reasonably priced. I kinda like them as you can see from the picture below. If you want more info on these types of pistols check out this forum: http://www.bryco-jennings-jimenezarms.com/forum/index.php -
Thanks for the heads up...just ordered my limit!

Best way to sell Mil surplus collection
LCPfraTN replied to urdubob's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Like everyone else is saying...let's see a list and some pics!! :yum: I think you will be able to sell everything here and likely get more than you would by going the consignment route.
