Excuse my ignorance in this but, If one were CERTIFIED to carry it, would it be legal to carry past the no guns signs or no weapons signs?. We all know LEO can but could a civilian that had certification ? I'm inclined to think yes past a no guns sign but not past a no weapons sign, just thought I'd ask.

Save Monkeyman ... Or not ... (Classic Car Advice)
nightrunner replied to MrsMonkeyMan2500's topic in General Chat
I vote keep it. Obviously you have emotional ties to it. It's not like an animal you don't have to feed it, it doesn't cost you anything if you don't drive it. New cars just don't have the soul the classics do. If I won the lottery (which I don't play anyways) I would have a TON of restored/modified older vehicles. Even if it's only rarely driven, keep it. You won't come across anyone else driving one just like it. There is a certain pride of ownership that comes with a built not bought vehicle that you can't get from anything else. -
.17hmr is a 20gr at 2350fps .17wsm is a 20gr at 3000fps. HMR will be cheaper to shoot. Depends if you need the extra velocity from the WSM or not. What will you be using the rifle for.

Correct. Lead is denser than copper and the Barnes has a massive and deep hollow point cavity. A 115gr. Barnes bullet is the same physical size as a 147gr lead JHP. Barnes expands larger than any other bullet on the market that I have seen. I guess I just need to get over the fact that it's a bit unconventional, yet it works great.

I have always wanted to shoot one of those. But then again, I like recoil. Honestly I want to shoot one of the .45/70 derringers with standard pressure loads at least once.
-
I like the Barnes stuff and carry it but I really dislike how they only use light for caliber bullets. I have really been looking at the Nosler ammunition here lately. Haven't gotten a box yet though.

So I am thinking about starting a TGO Hall of Shame
nightrunner replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I'm pretty sure that other forums have this or similar and it's not an issue, legal or otherwise. I see it as a service to the upstanding members. -

Do it! They earned it. I say ban them too but I'm assuming you will have already done that. If not, your house your rules. Like Dave said, many of us have been Benefactors a long time yet rarely if ever use the Trading post. Does this mean you will post past banned people and why? Voldemort... Etc. -
Would it be less bad if he had said "defensive oriented" instead? Better than not allowing rapid fire. That's BS.

30rd Kriss Extension! Lol 18 rounds of .45 does sound very nice. I've been thinking of getting one of these for a nightstand gun. High capacity .45acp, striker fired, no manual safety, long sight radius. What's not to like?

Shocked at what I saw at DL station
nightrunner replied to BlackHawk93's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
@ the sash, I saw an article not long ago where Massad Ayoob was touting it as a great tool or something another if you're in a defensive shoot. I can't respect his opinions much anymore. Never agreed with much of what he says anyways. -

It's not the OC, it's the HCP badge. No security place will have their employees wear a HCP badge. It's just a bad idea no matter what. Add the car to the equation, and it seems like a rent a cop with a gun. -
No one doubts the skills of Jerry Miculek. He is a great shooter. However there are better firearm reviewers and video makers out there.

Saw a State Trooper helping a motorist on I40 Good show.

It's great that happened, however the reason that many do not help anymore isn't because they don't have a heart, but because of liability. People want to sue for anything now, looking for a payday. "Helping" someone now could very well mean loss of a job and costing their dept thousands or millions in lawsuits. If you try to pull someone out of a ditch and something on their car breaks, you get sued. If anything happens on their cars electrical system after he jumped them off, likely to be sued. My cousin(civilian non LEO) stopped to help someone on the side of the road, they pulled a gun on him, he threw his hands up in a natural reflex reaction ( like to stop it) and they shot him in the hand and drove off. He now has no use in that hand. Like I said, it's a risk stopping to help someone any more unless you happened to know them. -
I can't imagine why TN would need it but that doesn't stop them from having MRAPs and HMMWVs. Texas I can definitely see having it for the border, not to mention Texas could secede at any moment they choose and survive just fine.MGs would come in handy for the TX Army lol

Hickock45 is number 1. Doesn't hurt that he is a member on here too ;) I also like MAC. FPS Russia purely for entertainment purposes only. I couldn't make it through a few seconds of Nutnfancy. I have heard he has some good stuff but I can't stand to listen to him to separate it from the BS.

It's usually hickory. Sometimes mesquite or Apple wood.

Amen! Actually bird hunting teaches you several things, one of which is how a shotgun actually works. And it ain't like Hollywood.

It's a round made to mimic .45acp ballistics yet fit in a Glock small frame (17/19/26). Glock and XD is the only guns I know of made for it. It's an answer looking for a question

Decorative engraving a Glock frame
nightrunner replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Regardless of whether you like it or not, you have to appreciate the amount of time and skill it took to accomplish that. I really like it, and agree with Dolomites suggestion of cerakoting it silver then adding depth. I wouldn't pay what it would cost to have it done, but I wouldn't do it for a 1911 or Hi Power or SAA either. Just not my style. Well, maybe for a BBQ gun, but I wouldn't pick a glock as a base gun either. What about starting out with one of those aluminum glock frames? Lonewolf? -

That is one nice rig! Mag pouches or anything on the othe side? -
1911s require a lot of hand fitting it's not like building an AR or even AK. It just happens to be a very popular gun that the patents have run out on.

I have never had one and doubt that I ever will. This year certainly won't be the first time I get one.
