  1. You can look at it and tell it doesn't have the refinement built into that H&Ks hammer fired guns have, but I definitely did not expect that at all.
  2. Tritium is a radioactive gas that glows in the dark naturally. Best at night i like Trijicon sights the best. Their HD version allows you to use the rear sight for one handed manipulation
  3. The key is to only stock things that YOU can/will use. The trading center may or may not work out and you don't want to have money tied up in something you can't use. Say for example durable work shirts, I wear a 2xl or 2xlt. It wouldn't make much sense for me to stockpile size medium shirts. Do your research on what to get and most of it is just extras of what you already need anyways. Yes a trading center will be invaluable, not so much in a temporary SHTF scenario but for full on TEOTWAWKI, absolutely.
  4. Probably belt related or maybe one of the belt driven accessories. Alternator possibly. If it's only when it rains though it's the belt. Either needs tightened up or replaced. Could be the tensioner getting weak as well.
  5. A hand loaded .45super at .460rowland velocities does the same thing just more of it. And it works in some off the shelf .45acp pistols. 10mm pistols are exactly common, Glock sucks and Delta Elites crack frames.
  6. I'm not in Nashville but Academy always has a good selection. I'm sure Nashville Armory would have some as well, not sure on price though.
  7. Except for the fact that you can't take a firearm in the post office...
  8. I'm with you man. I've been off since Thursday and go back tonight and it's been raining every single day. And it seems in middle TN, the rain makes everyone driving go full retard.
  9. Leather will need to be broken in, but it does need to be make for your specific gun. I have had a few different Galco Combat Master holsters. It is an OWB leather holster without a thumb strap or any retention. Just how I like it. The fit was great, but they squeak pretty significantly for awhile until it gets broken in. Mostly the holster against my leather belt. Just another thing to think about.
  10. I was about to say. 1 tritium can't be painted on, it a radioactive gas that has to be contained in a vial. 2 tritium can't be "charged" with a light source like glow in the dark paint can
  11. If you aren't hunting or competition shooting with it, the S&W M&P 22 Compact is hard to beat, best of its kind IMO. MSRP is $389. I have seen them for $299 new in the gun shop. A bit over budget, but it is hard to find a quality and durable .22 pistol. Or look at a Ruger Mark 2/3 or a Buckmark. Don't be afraid to buy a used one.The ruger will last many lifetimes.
  12. X2 I'm really liking the HK tritium front and round tritium rear
  13. I have always wondering why tritium and fiber optics are so prevalent in pistols but nearly non existent for defensive rifles. I'm very interested in seeing what is out there
  14. I would carry on as normal and tell my brother to grow a pair if he didn't like it. Best case is just carry concealed. No way would I disarm for visiting family.
  15. If he loved Ruger, Security Six ( best revolver size IMO, feels like a K frame but tested to over 1,000,000 rounds of .357mag) Blackhawk SR1911 Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle Maybe an old Deerfield carbine
  16. I would think for an heirloom gun you would want true quality and craftsmanship. That is fairly rare in new firearm production. Custom 1911s excluded. My first thoughts for an heirloom gun are Vintage pre-lock blued or nickel N frame S&W Colt 1911 Browning Hi power Winchester lever gun Pre 64 Winchester model 70 Winchester model 12 Maybe Beretta 92 M1 garand M1 carbine 1903 Springfield Maybe something that suited your fathers tastes in firearms? Most everyone leans one way or the other as for their taste in firearms, whether it's revolvers, 1911s, shotguns, bolt guns, lever guns, whatever.
  17. I'll echo the email to the boss. I see a lot of cops in our local Cracker Barrel, gift card there wouldn't be bad. Use it to eat with or if you don't like their food, buy a family gift in the store.
  18. Never even heard of it? I'm guessing it's a .22 hornet necked down to 17 then the shoulder blown out ?
  19. Magpul is really branching out right now. They just came out with a leather gun belt too. I'm happy for them, honestly never thought I'd see anything but polymer products from them but hey if it sells it works.
  20. Wow, how long did you have to wait for that one Very nice indeed!
  21. A .444 rifle is going to be hard to sell even if it is a rare Winchester. A nickel 29 in excellent condition should be fairly easy to sell.
