i wouldnt mind paying up to around $60-80 for a good solid long gun case. but want good quality. i dont have an academy's or dick's or etc. around here.

does anybody know where i could find aluminum gun cases with the "eggcrate" foam inside? need some for pistols and long guns also. i have a pic of one i got at a yard sale that i will post up shortly thanks oh, and i dont need it to be "airline-safe" or have a secure lock, just a secure latch. just want something nice and safe (for my firearms) to keep them in at home, and to transport them in.

i think for 9 or 40, a XD sub compact would work good but likely outside of your price range. a compact frame glock would likely work good also. i am your size also - 6'4" 200lbs. and will be watching this thread for suggestions, although i like .45acp, 10mm and .357sig for autos and .38spl, .357mag, .44spl, and .44mag for revolvers. maybe drop to a .40 if i found the perfect gun. i have heard that the holster can make or break you as far a concealibility and comfortability

so in other words, only a .45ACP will suffice.

i voted rifle because it can do damn near anything but be concealable(excluding class 3 SBRs). it has knockdown power, high-capacity, quick follow-up shots, rapid fire. but i gotta ask, favorite platform for what? many people will agree that a different platform is more suitable for different tasks. a varied assortment in the gun safe is best

I second the Taurus Judge. and for this reason, use the .410 shotshells, and replace the shot in the cartridge with rock salt. VERY effective. i have used this in a single shot shotgun and it flat out works. might try alternating with .45 if you think you might need it. i would suggest a 12ga. or maybe a 20ga. but i dont know of a handgun in either .
