the .308 fits an AR-10 lower, not a AR-15 lower. but it doesnt matter what upper you put on your lower whether it is marked 5.56 or multi or even something else. pistol and rifle cant be changed but caliber doesnt matter, unless you go and register a SBR lower and then its up to the ATF agent that processes your form what you have on it.

they will work in the gun. you do know that anything labeled as .45colt will work in it not just .45long colt, right? ammo shouldnt be that hard to find
