  1. minimum i would take is a .44mag. .45colt if your in a pinch .44mags can always be turned around. Id try to get one used, then sell it when you get back if you cant swing buying another gun right now. preferrably a 4" version.
  2. in that case and all others considered, I think the 610 would be the best bet. I think a full underlug revolver is a little bit sexier than a CBOB.
  3. you could go either way, but Id look at a RZ-10 if you wont be carrying it.
  4. I think I'll go with leather, would rather have leather anyways since it still has comparable retention.
  5. DPMS makes an AR in 6.5Creedmoore. I know you probably dont want that but its there.
  6. an AK is probably the best bet, but either that or a marlin lever action in a pistol cal. 357 or 44mag but 44mag isnt cheap to shoot. 357 can drop a deer or a man just fine. put .38s in it to plink with. semi auto, it goes to the AK. lever action goes to the marlin. isnt the SKS just a stripper clip fed ak?
  7. would have to be at least 13 rounds to get me as that is what the current XD-45 has
  8. i had a xd-45service and loved it. wish i had not had to sell it. I was more accurate with that than any other gun ever. also had a XDM9 and liked it but not the caliber. XDM 45 is awesome.
  9. REALLY?! where did you hear this at, if you dont mind? Been wishing for one of these since the XDM 40 came out.
  10. .45acp wont do jack on a motivated animal of medium-large size. .45colt, yeah, but not the .45acp. bears (yes we do have them) will not go down with less than a .357mag or .45colt unless you are extremely lucky. i wouldnt want to face a boar with a .45acp either. just swap out that sp101 for a .357mag version and you are good to go.
  11. id say you need a .357mag or larger revolver for just in case you had an encounter with a wild animal/large or dangerous game. replace or supplement the nylon rope for some 550paracord a large fixed balde knife, those swiss army knives are nice to carry everday but not too good once you are away from civilization. how about some glow sticks? decent light and last 24hours signal mirror some duct tape rolled up on an old credit card to make it more compact take as much water as you can, preferrably in 20oz or so bottles. a shotgun is a possibility, if you can fit it and some shells take it. remember if its a 870 or the like, you can take the barrel off and probably fit it in a backpack concealed, and have it together in about a minute. a .22 pistol would be VERY valuable if you were to have to hunt for food. a high-powered takedown rifle might be valuable too, like a ar or a NEF single shot. something to possibly defend yourself with or hunt with. roll of black electrical tape is almost as useful as duct tape if you think there might be a civilization to come back to, might be wise to take some copies of important papers like drivers licenses, birth certificates, deeds, titles, etc. some people who left hurricane katrina and went somewhere else had trouble proving who they were in a different town in order to get work or whatever, just something to think about. knife sharpener gun cleaning kit gloves GI whistle cb or ham radio maybe a police scanner
  12. 1. XD-45 service or compact 2. XD-45 tactical 3. remington 870 (home defense version) 4. AR-15, likely built off a hero-gear lower. 5. SW 442 or LCP, not sure yet.
  13. after doing a bit of research and reading different reviews on the products, Ive found that the 5.11 Rush 24 and 72 backpacks are pretty good stuff, at least for what I need. The Rush 24 looks like it would work good for my vehicle bag. The Rush 72 looks to be perfect for a bug out bag. But before I purchase, Im going to hold out for the Hero-Gear bags that are supposed to be coming out, and see how they look.
  14. shouldnt it be close to a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich? or maybe not
  15. welcome from a fellow coffee county resident
  16. I would only choose the .380 for a BUG, personally. or for when you "arent carrying" a gun. there is a pretty big difference between a commander 1911 and the common .380 on the market now(very small size). is this a primary weapon, summer gun, highly concealable or what? the walther PPS might be worth a look might look at a 3" 9mm 1911. I also second looking at the Kahr's
  17. I got bored and ran across a 7 page "jokes" thread on another forum i frequent. If I struck a nerve on someone, sorry. It wont bother me a bit if you add me to your ignore list and have ALL my threads disappear from your view. I know some people enjoyed some of them and some really didnt like them.
  18. probably so. with the LSx engines and the Hemi's having a pcm, you can do so much tuning on them its unreal compard to a carbd application. i can only imagine them trying to figure out the tune on one of those because they owned everybody else on the track.
