I have had one for several years with many thousands of rounds and no problems except for one: the priming station. When new and properly adjusted, it worked great. There is a black angled piece that holds the primer feed cam in place. I have had to replace that piece 3 times as it slowly bends out of shape and/or breaks. I finally gave up and bought the Hornady Handheld Priming Tool that I prefer to use. This press uses the quick insert die bushings. I use only the ones which came with the press. I didn't feel the need to buy a separate bushing for each die. I leave the dies in the press and screw each die into place when being used. Once the dies are set and the lock rings locked on place, the dies seat to the same height each time. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the press. In fairness I can not compare it to any other progressive press as this is the only one I have used. I used a Rockchucker for years and still use for some of the more strenuous activities of case forming and full length resizing. When I decided to go progressive the Hornady was within my budget. I have read many favorable reviews about Dillon, but couldn't afford one.

These "may" start off with the energy of a 45acp but I think they will slow down real quickly. I tried some 165gr and got velocities from 800 to 900. I find it difficult to believe they are getting 950 with a 185gr. Seating a bullet that deeply into a case is going to increase pressure and leaves hardly any room for a slow burning powder.

Thanks for all the info. I have a hunch I was being fed a line to get me to buy more than the 2 lbs I had in my hand. I bought an 8lb jug at David's booth over the weekend, so I'm good for a while. After finding a few good loads for the 9mm and 45acp with W231 I hate to start searching for new loads with other powders since I'm still working on a few other calibers using Unique, Titegroup, Power Pistol and the Surplus powder I got from David at the last Knoxville gunshow.

I have heard recently that W231 and HP38 are being phased out. Anyone else hearing this or know for sure that it is or isn't accurate info?

I have an original Contender that I bought sometime around 1975. I wrote to TC and asked the same question. Customer service told me the G2 and Encore barrels will NOT fit and function properly on an old style frame. -

I have been able to find decent loads with Power Pistol, Titegroup and Unique. As for W231, I haven't been able to find that for several months. -
H&R 999 Sportsman. 9 shot .22. I bought it around 1975. Not with me anymore. My older daughter asked for it so I gave it to her. Still shoots well and looks like new

I believe the little bits, large bits means he is trying to learn and is receptive to any and all information. It doesn't matter if it is a small amount of info (little bits) or volumns of info (large bits). What a great opportunity for you guys with knowledge to help someone learn.

Superman, ( and anyone else who may be looking for these ) I know a guy with 2 of them. I think the barels are around 2inches and the best part is a couple weeks ago he told me he wanted to sell them. If you are interested, let me know and I will check with him on the specs and price.

Someone help me out here. I fully support this but my understanding is federal law trumps state law. If this bill is passed I don't know how it can be enforced. -

I have found good prices at http://www.freedommunitions.com/ I have used both the Blaster Training ammo with no problems other than being a little dirty in both my Ruger SR9c and P345 -

Hornady Critical Defense 9mm - Local Source?

Count me in. One frame and two super 14 barrrels: 7mmTCU and 45 Winmag. Used the 7mm for long range ground hogs. The 45 is a handfull but a real blast to shoot. I bought these sometime bwtween 1978 and 1980. I started off with a 10" 221 fireball but could not get it to shoot accurately.

Yep, that's the way my hydra-shoks are stamped. Mine are 135gr -jhp- low recoil.

Thnaks for the suggestion. She has been practicing that and is finding it a bit easier. Still has a way to go to get good control of racking the slide/ practise ..practise..practise
