I approve of soup year round. For a long time my work lunch was a can of soup. At home make a lot of soups fall and winter. We especially like it because we have leftovers, sometimes for a couple days. One favorite is Rachel Rays BLT soup. We also made chili, bison stew and a German version of cauliflower soup with beef.

People have to lock up and not leave valuable in vehicles. What ever we can do to make it harder for them. Maybe they will move on to greener pastures. Only thing is in Memphis and Nashville they evolved to just breaking out car windows and going through them.

Yes I have sent a few springs into orbit over the years! The most recent about two years ago, was a Ruger LCP recoil spring, you know it’s consists of and outer and inner spring. I managed to launch one of them and couldn’t find it anywhere. Ordered a new set and to this day have never found the missing one. BTW I am a lefty and for decades thought how great it would be add an ambidextrous safety to ARs or 1911s. I never did I just adapted.

One more thought. I remember the police in Clarksville had a grant for LPR cameras. What is the status on those? LPR cameras would sure help tracking also these stolen vehicles rolling in and out Clarksville. Please tell me the politicians didn’t kill that plan.

They hit around North Clarksville last night as I am sure you know. Patrick Place and adjacent neighborhoods. My street was hit last night and has been many times. I always lock our vehicles and don’t leave anything in them and have never had a problem. Only thing I have ever seen was fingerprints on the vehicle windows. Always check my ring cameras and I haven’t ever seen anything suspicious on them. When I go out at night I carry even if it is just the backyard. And I completely agree I can’t understand why people can’t lock their vehicles and take valuables inside.

Glad your power came back! The heat is no joke. Having a generator makes a big difference! On my brothers block only one house was running one. I took him non perishable food, a battery power pack and cases of water. He would not go back to Clarksville with me. But he has power now and doing well.

Ok good news the power has come on for my brothers street. With the heat that is coming it is very good news. Mod’s feel free to delete this topic. Thanks

https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/weather/2023/06/28/memphis-power-outages-boil-advisory-what-to-know-wednesday/70364290007/ They have gotten it down from over 100,000 to about 32k. Hoping they all get power today.

Are they making more process today? I am specifically interested in knowing when the power comes back on in the area between Bartlett road and Thomas Road. I have an older brother on Rappahannock. https://outagemap.mlgw.org/OutageSummary.php Mlgw website isn’t much help they post a summary with numbers repaired and number still out. Their map is kind of useless. It was interesting navigating the intersections without traffic lights.

Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
TennesseeCamper replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
Another case where celebrity gets special treatment. And it’s not the first time for Baldwin. So much negligence. Baldwin should have been charged properly. Can’t stand him! The armorer may not be so lucky. -
Nashville Walgreens employee shoots shoplifter
TennesseeCamper replied to 10-Ring's topic in General Chat
Definitely Walgreens will be sued and the shooter may face jail and lawsuits. For sure the shooter won’t likely work for Walgreens again. Employees in retail are not the police and it’s not worth loosing your life chasing after a shop lifter. No matter what management tells you, the company will not have your back if it goes sideways. He is lucky he was only peppered sprayed. -
Who Here Has A Generator, And It Saved Them ?
TennesseeCamper replied to billt's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I have a small Jackery and I was looking hard at getting a larger one. Then I saw Ecoflow! The more I read the more I liked the brand. So I just recently bought a Delta 2 to power my refrigerator and a couple essentials. Tested it out and worked great. I have a Champion inverter generator and solar panels. I may add more later. -
A most Excellent Article about the Rich Prepping
TennesseeCamper replied to Moped's topic in Survival and Preparedness
You know the best laid plans and all that. “No battle plan survives first contact”. I agree most of those rich dudes either won’t make it to their elaborate retreats or they will find themselves locked out. It does make for a good article. I have read similar stories. Apparently quite a few of the super rich hunkered down in New Zealand to ride out the pandemic. -
Oh good ! I didn’t see that thanks.

Maybe ask this guy to take a look and just get his recommendation. https://www.midtndryervent.com/ They have always done a good job for us. Some how I would want this vented to the outside. BTW my home inspector didn’t find half the problems. One of those cookie cutter franchises American home warranty. My crawl space HVAC ductwork was a disaster and none of was mentioned even though he crawled it.

I always liked Spyderco since my first endura in the 90s. I still have it and a couple dragons. Now a days the Japan made Spyderco knives are pretty pricey. I recently bought a couple of the Chinese made Spyderco knives just to check them out. They are not bad for the price. But of course the Japan ones are far better.

I owned scanners for decades. I started when you had to buy plug in channels in the 70s. There is very little left for analog scanners. The weather channels, aircraft on rare occasion maybe fire or ambulance. Maybe in some rural counties if they haven’t upgraded you could find more. I just decided that it’s not worth pursuing digital for me. I used to dabble a little with 2 meter ham. That’s pretty much dead too.

Had ants before but not lots of them. Downy woodpeckers like the feeder a lot. I skipped this year. Maybe I will try when it cools down some. Have a hummingbird that comes by in the evening to hit the flame vine and day lilies.

I like the idea of a large caliber air rifle too, but I don’t think they will be very quiet, at least from the reviews I read. And you never know if a raccoon will go down on the first shot.

Have you thought about live trapping them? You can relocate them or dispatch them with a .22

I think the main culprits were birds in my case. I put a game camera on one frame. I saw robins and cardinals nothing else. I planted more seeds today and put the camera on a tree to cover more of the area. Starting some seeds indoors too. My first time planting sunflowers too.

So speaking of critters anyone ever successfully plant sunflower seeds and defend them from squirrels and birds. I planted around 20 sunflower seeds a couple weeks ago. Almost all were eaten when they sprouted or dug up. I am thinking of growing them indoors in peat pots and planting when they are larger seedlings.
