  1. I think it is a reasonable thing to do.
  2. That is awesome especially for a dog in their teens! I couldn’t log that many miles myself. I have in past years done 5k’s, 10 milers and a couple half marathons. But I am a bit older now. I did go 5.5 miles a week ago. But none of my miles are in the mountains with a pack. My hat is off to you both!
  3. That’s a lot of miles! Definitely a good exercise program!
  4. Thanks for the update, answers some questions. I read that Alex was a veteran who served in Afghanistan and worked to help veterans in Arizona.
  5. If you decide to get a different brand let us know how you like it. My old model won’t last forever and eventually I will be looking to replace it. The truth is it’s just nice to have, extra insurance. I have camped and hiked in a lot of remote places long before cell phones and never had a serious emergency. Once in the four corners area out west, I had to drive miles to relay a message for a ranger, because even their radios weren’t reliable.
  6. All I can say is mine works fine. Most anything with two way communication via satellite will require a subscription. You must have the more expensive model with maps and touchscreen. The mini costs about 324 now. I see Zoleo on Amazon for $199. It also requires subscription. The ACR locator beacons do not require a subscription, but do not have communication and they have a shelf life.
  7. I have the older model the inreach se, so far it is still holding up. I take mine with me on the road or camping. Good to have for an emergency.
  8. Erik88, I have one of those garmin I reach devices. I keep the lowest cost subscription just in case of an emergency. Thankfully haven’t needed it yet. Frog4aday, I agree in a life threatening emergency you could drive on the rims to get out of harms way. I don’t understand why they choose to hike to a remote ledge. Maybe they thought they could get a cell signal. The one thing good thing they did was to leave the note. Having the means to fix a flat or a least put air in the tires would have made a difference too. I have been to Death Valley and spent a fair amount of time in the Mojave. Your vehicle needs to be well maintained. I used to carry a well stocked auto emergency kit, extra water, food etc. Even just driving I-10 on the highway thru the desert you see tons of cars that overheat and break down.
  9. https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona/2021/04/08/missing-tucson-couple-found-death-valley-national-park-ledge/7151268002/ I think they would have done better to stay with the vehicle.
  10. They disappeared quickly, like every thing firearms related these days. They were selling for $1100. I was encouraged that they were even up for sale again. I almost bought one but I talked my self out of sending the money.
  11. I was looking on buds site today and saw Colt AR 15s in stock. I thought, I had just seen a unicorn. Saw them on Rural kings site too for a little while.
  12. I don’t care if I ever buy any ammo again. But for those still buying, I checked Midsouth Shooters. They still had most of the popular calibers.
  13. An early Christmas present to online retailers and every local gunstore in the country. I have not bought ammo at Walmart in years.
  14. I do agree! I would love to have a Wrangler! I miss my Colt New Frontiers!

  16. Dave you know you can program your streamlight to high only, or low high. Then you don’t have worry about strobe or sos. I programmed one of mine to high only.
  17. Thank you all! I will get some cucumbers planted in the next couple days!
  18. Thanks Jamie! I probably did go a little overboard. But I hadn’t planted for a couple years. We do eat a lot of tomatoes we make salads almost every single day. I have a few friends to give extras too. I should have planted cucumbers. But it’s probably a little late.
  19. All I have are 10 tomato plants. 2 are for slicing. The other 8 are cherry tomatoes. 6 of the cherry tomato plants are small Walmart starters. They are a little behind the others I got from rural king and they are going great.
  20. I completely agree. She gave about a one hour news media live interview that was on FB live. I never saw so much nonsense in my life. Talking about her intuition and how spirits told her which to walk. And never did any reporter question the wisdom of her total lack of preparation or call her on any of her ridiculous rambling.
  21. I am glad to hear you like it. I wondered how it would be with the grip safety.
  22. https://abc7news.com/hawaii-jogger-missing-more-than-2-weeks-found-alive-police-say/5316559/ A lot said about how strong this woman was, I agree. But nothing said about how easily preventable this was. And by having just a few simple items she could have a been found sooner. 1. Not hiking or jogging in a remote area alone. 2. Do not leave your phone in the car. 3. Let someone know where you are going and when you will return. 4. Carry an emergency kit. Fire making, knife, flashlight, signal mirror, whistle etc. 5. Might want to have a map, gps or compass.
  23. The old Winchester single shots were just like that mossberg.
  24. I have used the Saint Marie clamp on mount and a 3x7 Tasco scope. The clamp on mount is a side mount. I liked this set up way better than a scout mount. Took lots of deer with this set up.
  25. https://youtu.be/xxbl74v0nWg about 3 minutes into this video OHP Captain Dan Combs talks about being shot in the gut point blank with .45. He still drove himself to the hospital. I saw Officer Combs demonstrate his shooting skills when I was a youngster.
