Any of you guys in the Northern part of Sumner? I got my spot all laid out there. It would be nice to know of other "camps" where friends may be.

Now that I've seen Chuck Norris, Hulk Hogan, and Epic Beard Man with fanny packs, I want one too!

Regal Providence Theatre Mt. Juliet
UncleJak replied to k9wh91984's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I've been to Indian Lakes and their signs aren't proper. It is extremely small and ill- placed. -
I can see a few reasons they would be good as mentioned above (medical, beach, biking). This guy was in downtown nashville, trendy area, and a camo pack. Everyone who has weighed in here who has one, has a legit reason for having one. I just couldn't see his "fitting in" or being remotely necessary. Perhaps it was his abercrombie shorts and shirt matched with the camo pack that stood out so much...

Well said...My family's life can depend on my Glock and I know it will always go bang. 1911s are super nice and I might would get one for show and tell. I went from a Jennings 9mm to a Glock 23 and have never wanted another gun again, love at first sight!

So I see this guy in his 30's wearing a camo fanny pack today. First thought is : GUN. Second thought: Who wears these?? If any of you guys wear them, sorry, but I think they are ridiculous for concealed carry or fashion. The more I think about it, the more I hope he did have a gun in there. Otherwise, why would he wear it? I think conceal carry wasn't in the design of these packs. Any thoughts??

I agree, and have always said it would be stupid for anyone to invade Tennessee ("The patron state of shootin' stuff").

I have the Romanian ak47 and wouldn't trade it for anything.

What is the capacity and fire rating? I got a Centurion by Liberty at lowes for cheap and I love it.

Decided to see what all the hype was about
UncleJak replied to Il Duce's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I may need to try this one...i bought a Ace and it sucks. It does what it's supposed to, but not comfortably. I guess you get what you pay for ($10 for the Ace). Much of my concealed carry involves dress shirts and I need something better for my Glock 27. -

Is this one where you can tuck a shirt in while wearing? -
That sounds like a good plan. My friend has the Kel-Tec and loves it. I'm not very familiar with the ARs. The one thing I can tell you for sure: don't buy those Asian military Glock mags! They are junk that I wasted money on. I've bought some used LE marked ones that are great and only paid $10 each for them

OK, I watched Rise of the Apes last night and now I pick zombies. I feel sorry for the apes and wouldn't want to hurt them. The movie was interesting. Based on other Planet of the Ape movies, I wanted to not like the apes and make them the " bad guys". This movie was different and at the end I was cheering for Caesar.

I'm gonna take a page from Jab and add Pez to my bag. Sugar is good to have, and I like Pez.

Hand Drill Fire starting - Choosing wood in TN
UncleJak replied to ProjectDexter's topic in Survival and Preparedness
The hand drill is by far the hardest skill to master, but I see a def advantage to knowing it. No one wants to be stranded without matches, lighters, etc. However, what if that was the hand you were dealt? Frantically rubbing two sticks together to build a fire doesn't sound appealing to me, but if one had a general idea of the technique I'm sure the rubbing would be less frantic and more skilled. Use 1 hard wood and 1 soft wood. Practice makes perfect. -
Now I'm def interested. I have a degree in Environmental studies (man living in harmony with nature is how I say it) and absolutely love discussion of these topics. I am willing to share what I have learned, as well as learn what others have to share.

What all is there to do? I've never been to the fair, but it sounds interesting. I have two little ones too, is there stuff for them

We had a groundhog on the farm where I grew up. I know of at least 2 times where I got him with a .410 and he did not die. Dad caught him with the S&W 5906 9mm one day, that did it. I agree with everyone else, place your shot in the head!

Has anyone ever found a Black Widow spider in their mailbox?
UncleJak replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
I have had other spiders in my mailbox with webs. Never a black widow, but I don't think it's unheard of. They can be moved in overnight with a full web. -
I might be interested.

I've seen them for $250-$300 in pawn shops. The best one I saw had 4 mags, a suppressor, and a case for $600. I talked to my friend who owns the local shop and he told me they are different but not really as good of a gun as they are made out to be. I would buy one if the price was right, but it seems the name "tec9" adds unsubstantiated value. You should pass and find something nicer for the same moneys.

Armed car-jacking and burglary off West End Ave.
UncleJak replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I agree with the above comments, and I keep my Glock loaded and within reach. If a questionable group approaches, Glock in hand and ready to drive... -
My bag is kinda a get home or bug out bag. I only have the one bag, but it serves dual purposes. I keep it in my car trunk so it's always with me. And like David, my firearm is always with me and there is an extra box of ammo in the bag too. Caster's story is too outrageous to be made up, so I believe it. I'da took it too!

I bought my wife the walther sp22 and it is awesome too. It shoots cheap stuff (federal) so we always take it for fun when we go shooting.

I have a used East German duffel that I paid $10 for. I have everything I need to go underground for at least 3 days. It is a bit heavy (50 lbs) but I have everything in it. Some items include: food, water, shelter, protection, and a few small luxury items to keep my sanity (or whats left of it). Nothing real fancy but definitely more than just "enough to scrape by" I also made a similar bag for my wife that is closer to 30 lbs and 2 significantly lighter bags for my kids. Everybody has a bag and each persons' bag contents match their skill level. p.s. I wonder if Home Depot knows about Caster's basket....
