  5. So, my 10 year old son is ready for a new handgun. He wants a revolver that he can shoot now and that will still be good for him as he gets older. I looked at the Heritage 22lr and Taurus lightweight 38. He can handle the Taurus weight, but I dont think the barrel is long enough to control the recoil for him. The Heritage barrel was plenty long, but it weighed the gun down making it uncomfortable for him to hold for more than a few seconds. Please help me with some suggestions of what we can try. I think he needs something mid range powerful with a medium barrel. What is available? Thanks for any suggestions!
  6. Is this the deal that lets all songs that where bought by the publisher go back to the writer? What songs did your dad write? My grandfather wrote several. My 2 favorites are "Come walk with me" (The whites sang it a lot) and "Great big woman and a little bottle of wine" (best song ever)

  9. So today was my 2nd attempt at a Black Friday. Last year I came home empty handed. This year will be the same. I went to Academy Sports this morning and it was a mad house. I have learned my lesson. Nothing is so cheap as to be worth all that chaos. I will pay regular price before I ever go to a Black Friday sale again. I did have my heart set on that 357 mag, but I will make it. It takes a lunatic to go out in these crowds. I am now safe at work and thankful that I am here!!!!!
  10. Thanks to all who have responded so far. I feel I am making progress with her. She sees a need for protection, but feels like a gun isn't always necessary. (which is true) I had bought her an expandable baton last year and she has that in her car. I explained that a baton is a great defensive weapon for many situations, but I would rather have too much weapon than not enough. A friend of mine once said " it's better to have one and not need it than need it and not have it". The best argument I gave her was she could defend our children in case of a emergency. This is a emotion that appeals to all parents, especially mothers. I think it worked. So, tomorrow is black Friday and Academy Sports has a 22lr single action revolver on sale. I am going to purchase this in hopes she will be comfortable with the shooting portion of the hcp test. After she receives her permit I will give her a small semi auto 22 that can be stashed in her purse just in case.
  11. Good discussion! If the time ever comes, I have my spot already ready. I am gonna get there and get to work. I believe hard work can accomplish many things. My goal is to not attract any militia or other type of group. I want people to think I am starving and barely hanging on. I will work hard until my work is complete. At that time, I hope I have taught my children enough to continue on.

  16. I agree with the allegro hot spicy. It is my absolute favorite! I am currently working on a recipe for pemmican. It includes ground meat, nuts, and fruit. If I get it tasting right, I will share the recipe.
  17. Has anyone had to persuade their wife to get her HCP? My wife knows the importance of firearms, but does not feel she needs to carry all the time. She also feels she is not a good enough shot to pass the range test. I assured her a monkey could pass the test but she is not convinced. Anyone have some words of wisdom??
  18. My dad is retired LEO. He carries under the HR218. Every year he still has to qualify with the sheriff. I figure in a year or two he probably won't even be able to pass the range test. He is getting older and last year he barley scraped by. I guess that is why they have to re-qualify every year. It is actually kind of sad....He used to be able to out shoot me left handed one eye closed...

  20. Actually guys, I invented "lock and load " yesterday. I was just sitting at the house thinking of nonsense I could pawn off on others. It came to me in a dream and now "lock and load" is common gun vocabulary. I just wish I would have trademarked it.
  21. When I was working in a grocery store, if I detained someone, I searched them. I don't know if that is legal, but i did it for my safety. Worst I ever found was a larger pocket knife. The one thing I learned about thieves: they still the dumbest stuff and usually have cash on them that they could have used to pay for it. We got a dude one night stealing 2 cigars from a 5 pack of cigars that cost $2. He had a twenty in his pocket. Cops came, searched him (better than I did) and found pain pills for re sale on him. Ran his name and had a fta warrant in Nashville. Guess what his original charge was.......shoplifting. I HATE THIEVES.
  22. Oh, I see whats up now. I've been tricked!
  23. That is a good looking skull! I buried one once and was gonna dig it up to see how it turned out. Then, I forgot where I buried it.
  24. Sweet, I hope it passes! Tennessee's permit is pretty wide extending, but this would make it awesome.
