  1. My kids are the same way. My daughter will not touch one (except her bb gun with my supervision) no matter what. My son will move one if instructed to (he is older). I have made sure they both know the dangers of guns and feel they understand. I think the worst stuff always happen to children who have never seen a gun in the house and suddenly "find" one and experiment.
  2. Does anyone remember the days when you could walk out of a gunshow with 1,000 rounds for a hundred dollar bill? Those were the days...
  3. I just read up on these bees and found out they have no stingers!! I will be back with the pink bat!!
  4. I can't believe you work in Highland Park and only carry two guns....
  5. I think it's always ok to ask someone politely. They do have the right to refuse, but it seems in this case he did agree to some extent.
  6. I have a ton of these things around my property line. Too close to other houses to be shooting though.... I tried a pink plastic baseball bat, but they chased me away!
  7. I received one automatically. I filled it out and sent it in. Had my new permit before tyhe other expired. Very easy!
  8. I buy honey from an old farmer in my area. It is the best ever!! Thanks for the info!
  9. Not exactly on point, but I had a job offer once to work in a rabbit slaughter house. I was butchering at a grocery store at the time and the guy offered me a pretty good chunk of change to work for him. I almost took the job until I toured the place. No one ever told me the rabbits were the cute little white ones I see around Easter. I just couldn't do it. But, good luck with your rabbit business! Just don't name them!
  10. I got the Mossberg 702 plinkster for my son. It's a blast to shoot! It has a 10 round magazine and is bolt action. I think I have around 150 for it tax and tics included.
  11. SteelHarp, did you know Uncle Josh Graves? Seems like you know everyone else...
  12. I've met lots, but I'd have to say Bill Monroe was the neatest. His bass player was sick and I filled in. He was pretty old by this time and his mind kinda wandered, but he was still awesome on the mandolin. He also had a funny way of talking to people, I can't describe it but I am sure if anyone ever met him they know what I mean.
  13. Thanks for the info!
  14. You should buy it and trade it for a glock and lose that nickel plated sissy pistol....
  15. Where did you get that leather thing on the butt-end? I want one for my ak!
  16. I have my hat on right now...
  17. I have a Stevens model 5100 side by side 20 gauge. I am trying to date it and determine a value. The handguard has a "B" and a "J" in circles. It also has a "G" and a " U" not in circles. It also has a pointing type dog engraved on the side. I have searched online and found similar ones, but the prices are so varied I don't know what I have. Anyone ever seen one of these?? Thanks!
  18. I have been testing several "natural cures" that seem to be effective. I make a pine needle tea which is good for colds and blood pressure, White Willow Bark tea for pain relief and fever reduction, and stinging nettle tea for allergies and asthma. So far, these have all been effective treatments. They are real easy to make and I add local honey to them to make them sweet and drinkable. Although I am a Doctor, I am not "that" type of Doctor (M.D.), so please do not accept any medical advice from me. Consult a medical doctor before trying ANYTHING. That being said, has anyone ever used these or found others that are effective?
  19. I found Briscoe Darlin's back up jug in the woods near my house.
  20. I'm not quite the same situation, but my house is better maintained than the one to its left. SO, I am planting a nice row of evergreen trees. Maybe it will hide the poorly landscaped house next to me. If my situation was as bad as yours, I'd def take the codes route.
  21. Scary what passes for normal.
  22. I keep trying to add whiskey to my preparations, but somehow it keeps getting drank....
  23. The second photo is how i imagine my son would look if I let him kill a turkey with a machete....(I'm not going to let him)
  24. We used to have Rhode Island Reds and some sort of black and white spotted rooster.(dominic??) We had nice brown eggs daily. Neat thing about chickens: once they know where to sleep, they always come back to that spot to sleep. We learned this the hard way, chasing chickens nightly for about 3 weeks to put them up to roost. One night an old farmer stopped by and told us how silly we looked chasing them around. He was right.
