  1. I normally wear moccasins, but when the terrain is extreme I have a pair of Bates lightweight boots I can throw on. They are inexpensive and comfortable. I got mine at Academy for under $50. As far as my pack, I normally take a backpack with hydration bladder, but also think the Kelty packs are super for longer runs.
  2. Fighting a bear and we both lose(or win depending on how you look at it).
  3. I like to call my bag "Basil Marceaux" because most people don't know what to think about it when they first see it.
  4. This is mine. I made it from scrap leather. I have some paracord braided and attached to it and a safety light from where I walked in a night parade. It is about 5 inches deep and 10 inches across. My wife calls it my "man purse"!
  5. Yea, a second opinion would def help. Then maybe she can see how bad of a rip that price is. I have used Hiller before and they were cool, but that seems like too much.
  6. One of my favorite memories was trout fishing the Green river in East TN. I never caught a single one, but had a great time. My cousin, who is a much better fisherman than myself, caught enough to feed an army. Rainbow trout are so good to eat. Good luck!

    New vs Used

I agree that the discount is usually small. Sometimes I have found some really good deals, one has to keep their eyes open for what they want. Last time I was looking for something, I checked internet sites daily until I found the gun and the price I wanted.
  8. I really am interested, but the thought of more schooling is not appealing. I just completed my phd and I really don't even like school! BUT, I do weant to help people and be there for friends and family if ever needed. Now, if I can just get someone to pay for my school and figure a way to keep working while I am attending...
  9. Yea.....maybe this isn't for me. I like helping people and all but...
  10. I've seen lots of these, but I have never seen one inside a house!
  11. What a lucky accident! Greetings!
  12. My son and I attended a first aid training the other night. We both will be receiving our "certifactes" soon and had a really nice time. The lady who taught the class was at one time a EMT. That kind of work suddenly appeals to me. Does anyone know what needs to be done to "be" an EMT? Any words of wisdom?
  13. I am a left handed transplant. I was ambi before, but tghis caused me to be onlty right handed. I cut off my right trigger finger 2 years ago and tore the tendons (??) in my right elbow also. So, I learned to shoot left and I am almost as good as I was right. I still use my right holsters because I cannot find a way to carry left that feels "right".
  14. I think if a regular person asks, it could be a good teaching moment for 2nd amendment rights.
  15. I think you did the right thing. I don't think anyone would have been super calm in that situation. There is always room for improvement in anything, but point is you are safe. Hopefully there won't be a "next time", but if there is I am sure you will be better.
  16. Lets ban abortions and start castrations instead.
  17. In these scenarios I cannot tell who is dumber: the guy, the 11 woman, or the welfare system created that supports this. Probably a combo of all three...
  18. Put your shirt on, you're scaring all the chicks away!
  19. I use the cheapest brass fmj I can get, usually the Federal red box from wal mart. It works for anything I need. I know there is better ammo, but I can buy way more of the cheap stuff.
  20. I like to go to Gander Mtn (Bowling Green , KY) to look around. They like their stuff too much for me to buy it.
  21. I'm going to go home today and learn how to do the "old spin"! This video had me laughing out loud at work!
  22. That is pretty cool. I think it would be neat to have one that attached to your arm and held a few shells like that.
  23. Greetings!
  24. I no longer have cows, but in my opinion they are not worth the effort. If you are going to eat them, the last 2 weeks before they are killed they need to eat a special diet and not be allowed to eat grass. If you don't have a place to keep them in this time period, it is impossible to do. As far as raising to sell, we did okay with red angus cows. They retained their value and some of the calves brought decent money. I probably wouldn't do it again. I think for the amount of care involved, the reward was not great enough.
  25. I usually ask for their door to door permit and they leave. If someone actually had one I would nicely ask them to leave. I understand being frustrated by doo to door guys, but use some common sense!!
