  1. I've never thought about this, but if my glasses go, I'm screwed. I have a crazy eye condition that usually affects 80 year old women. Without my glasses I can see about 2 feet max. I generally avoid doctors, but I may need to make an exception to check into some better frames...Thanks to the OP for "opening my eyes" to this...
  2. I've heard it in Scott county TN and White county KY.....still sounds weird to me whenever I hear it...
  3. It hurt him b/c he wore a suit....If he refuses to wear flannel cut off, he could at least roll up the sleeves like OP said...
  4. I like to picture my president in a flannel shirt with cut off sleeves playing lead guitar for Lynard Skynard...
  5. Survivorwife sounds like a cool tv series.... And congrats on th fire!
  6. I won a turkey shoot.....
  7. It is here!!! Thats pretty fast!!
  8. I just ordered a sandwich, lets see how fast it arrives....
  9. I sold one to a 19 year old one time and had his mom also sign the bill of sale. I felt comfortable doing it that way, but would not do it without her consent just to be safe...
  10. 3 words: Womens Beach Volleyball
  11. I had a guy come up to me at work one time and ask about buying a handgun. I started asking questions, like revolver or semi auto, small or large, and how it will be carried. He then proceeds to tell me he is really wanting to get one because him and his wife were going through a divorce. I stopped him right away and suggested counseling instead of a firearm. I told him I hated to hear of his situation, but a gun would not fix it. I then told him there was nothing that could have occured that woukld justify the need for a gun. (she cheated, he cheated, she had a new boyfriend, etc...) The whole deal really caught me offguard. I spoke to another friend of mine and told him what had happened and he also went and spoke to the guy, affirming what I had told him. In the end, the guy did not buy a gun and got his divorce peacefully.
  12. I don't care for the song, not because of the artist, but the song "format" is all over the place. It's just not catchy enough for me to enjoy. I like the premise, not the delivery.
  13. If my son's school had a LEO, like some other schools, I would feel much better about their policy. They do not have a LEO and it seems the staff is blind to the possibility that something bad could happen. I was told that if there were an emergency, the principal could authorize the use of cell phones. Too little too late in my opinion. One response I was given : "stuff like that doesn't happen here...". Good answer, moron....
  14. Best advice I ever recieved was from a Wilson County deputy: "Take advantage of every bathroom break you get". Sounds like solid advice. Good luck! I have always wanted to be a reserve officer, but in my area they have gotten rid of the program.
  15. This is the most important piece of advice. I have buried things before while enjoying a cold "beverage" and went back later only to find I really had no clue where to look. Luckily it wasn't a firearm I buried, but it is still frustrating.
  16. Thanks for all the responses so far! It seems several people feel as I do. My son is 11, has two jobs (mowing yards and detailing cars), and is way more responsible than I ever was at 11. I want to give him every tool available to survive an emergency. I plan on addressing the director of schools, but I must be prepared for him. He has a reputation of throwing his doctorate degree around attempting to appear smarter than any concerned parent. I don't know if he is really like that or if the people I have heard this from are biased, but I willl be ready just in case.
  17. My son is starting middle school this year and they have a "no cell phone"policy. I believe a cell phone can be a powerful tool in an emergency. He has carried his phone, turned off, in his pack for 2 years and never once gotten in trouble for misuse. If he had it out using it, I would understand taking them up. BUT I am talking about EMERGENCY USE ONLY by responsible students. I am going to address the school director on this and need a strong argument.
  18. I won't even try to pretend...
  19. I've seen them! No panthers though, probably b/c my woods are right out of the city limits...
  20. All handguns are Glocks, except Glocks which are revolvers.
  21. OH, I understand now. Turn the tables on them. I'm sure that would go over well.....BAZINGA!
  22. =keep it away from the kid. problem solved.
  23. While I agree that there is WAY too much coverage of this dude, I can't see regulating the media. I believe they have the right to report freely. I simply choose not to watch.
  24. I could see that. Or too much exposure to television violence. He does need a good role model, but on a hunch he probably won't get one anytime soon.
  25. I have a ARK-1547. My wife was telling me she saw this on the tv this morning. As I recall, he also had a shotgun that seems to have been forgotten... Apparently interchangeable depending on how it suits the situation...
