What changes would you like to see for 2013/14?
UncleJak replied to Handsome Rob's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Lower license cost Change the hunters safety course where it can all be done online -
Still deciding what to do. I have a couple options, but still not sure what route to go. I decided against the warranty, I wanted this knife and not a replacement.

Acorns are horrid. You have to boil them 3 times to make them safe to eat. Safe does not equal tasty. Stick with the more popular nuts.

I agree with the ancestry.com suggestion. I have also seen blank family tree books at book stores that you can fill in yourself, after the research is complete.

I was thinking nuts in the shell would make great survival food. They can last a long time and are nutritious. I have heard of walnuts and pecans lasting close to 2 years in the shell. Just make sure to have a set of nutcrackers or you will be struggling to free them from the shells.

The Case for More Guns (and More Gun Control)
UncleJak replied to Stegall Law Firm's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I didn't think this was long until I saw "page 2 and 3". But it was a good read. And as always, the truth is the truth. You really cannot dispute the logic of being armed. -
And anyone who is interested in learning this needs to speak to Spots. He is the real deal.
Don't leave them holding work piece in the fire
Unless you are staging a cool picture....They will get SUPER hot! I picked these up at a antique mall in Kentucky for $11. They are designed for larger stock, like the spikes.
Viracnis, what belt grinder do you use? Springhill is fairly close to Nashville, right? We should start a meet on this side of the state along with the classes that Spots does.
And don't forget about UncleJak up on the Kentucky border....

I too have a hard time un-teaching my kids. My 7 year old daughter still belives Columbus discovered America. She even stated she wanted to vote for Obama (in a school election), despite my constant telling her that he did not value our constitution. Maybe it is the fact that she is 7, my 11 year old gets it. I think the point overall though is we as parents have a uphill battle un-teaching and re-teaching the lies that our kids are told.

Christmas Time TGO Premium Membership (Benefactor) Giveaway
UncleJak replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Congrats guys! And thanks to TripleDigit Ride for a cool contest! -
Spent the afternoon making the cheapest forge I could. I made a small dug out hole, lined it with some rocks I had laying around, piped air in using my shop vac, and began heating! I plan on modifying this later, as the air needs to come from the bottom instead of the side. Additionally, I need to have some control over the amount of air. I ran full blast the whole time and burned through all my coal! BUT, I was able to make it work. My total cost: $16. I spent $11 on the tongs and $5 on the coal. I started out using a nice flat rock for a anvil; however, I soon broke the rock into many pieces. Never one to give up, I used the side of my 8 pound sledgehammer as a makeshift anvil. I was able to make a "ringer" for my son's triangle. I then worked on a rr spike knife. It turned out decent. With better tools I may have made some changes, but overall I am happy with it. And here are the horseshoe knifes I started with Spots and took home to finish. All I have left to do on these is handles. All and all it was a good day. A big thanks to Spots and his dad for giving my the knowledge and ability to make this happen. Hopefully, more items will soon follow.

Very nice. I especially like the one in the middle left on the last picture. That blade shape is pretty cool.

UPDATE: I spoke to a machinst (idk if that's what you call it) this morning. He said this could be easily repaired by TIG welding it. Now, I just have to find a TIG welder.

Must have gift for zombie disposal and preppers

A good bowie knife will do almost all of the same things, plus it looks cooler to carry a bowie versus a shovel. -
I am pretty sure it wasn't a roadkill deer. I am going back today for pictures and GPS coordinates for the TWRA.
How is this NOT illegal.
It should be. I recently saw a special where they had Ipads in baggage that didn't make it to the destination. The agenst stole them. They had locating beepers on them and found 1 at dude's house. Of course he didn't know how it got there. It was like the "to catch a predator" set ups.

Add one more, I just looked up your profile...

I will def call them, but I also do enjoy the "fun factor". I love fixing things myself.

Yea... the tip was broke too and self repairs probably void that warranty. The handle broke whilst hammering pins out...
