Dude my note 2 doesn't understand a word on voice text. Not to mention I still use a lot of backwoods slang that doesn't come through when I type so it has major issues with my speech and grammar when I try voice text. sent from the backwoods like "you-uns". I recently upgraded to a smartphone. I chose the Samsung Galaxy s3. It is loaded with awesome features, one of which is Voice typing. The problem I have is it does not understand my southern accent very well. The other day I was sending a message that contain the words"blah blah blah". The phone wrote "obama". sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee

Well, worse case, it's 11 months 29 days too long. ;) Just so you're aware. - OS Officer: " do you know it is illegal to carry a knife over four inches long?" UncleJak: " yes officer I know, but I cannot carry a knife shorter than my moustache" sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee

The whole house smells like beef jerky...
UncleJak replied to Mark A's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Flank steak was great before everyone found out about it. I was a butcher for 12 years and it was only in the latter half that people figured that one out. For my beef jerky, I use top round or the non rump half of the bottom round. Top is better, bottom is cheaper... -
I got your 6 on this one. But seriously, someone always has to jump cool phrases and bring them to the point no one will use it again. Just like when I used to say wassup. Then Budweiser ruined it for me. Havent said it since. sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee

It was a different epoxy than I normally use and i can't rember the brand. I thought about doing the handle like you said but I don't have a torch. If the handle doesn't stay put I will have to rework it but I am hopeful. sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee

Not really. I carried the coldsteel finn bear before this one and it has a similar handle design. Knock on my wooden head, I hope I don't slip. Yep. It is perfect for picnics, weddings, , church, campouts, playing hopscotch, you name it! I originally wanted brass pins and glue. Someone (me) forgot to drill holes and didn't want to go through all the troubles of annealing (again), hardening (again), and tempering (again). Next time I will probably do pins too, but I actually really like that this one does not have pins and shows only the natural wood. It is def unique in that aspect. As far as the EDC length, I guess it is just a bit long. It just wouldn't have been the same blade at 4 inches...

This one is kinda sentimental. Wife's grandfather passed last year and I got some of his old worn files. I used one for this blade. The oak handle is from flooring in their old house(which just got sold) that was removed for a/c install.

I don't dip or smoke but I really feel like I need one of these!

I wish I owned one! Caves were here before humans and will be here after we have gone.

Finally finished my new EDC blade. 5 1/2 in blade; hand forged. Oak handles. Super comfortable in my hand.

A file, a penny, an antler, and a lot of sweat
UncleJak replied to UncleJak's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I am going to sharpen the edge but leave the file/ forge marks. I have started a couple more similar to this one. I am extremley satisfied with the way this one has turned out. sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee -
I carry a square of aluminum foil in my kit. It can be used as a bowl to cook or purify water, to direct sunlight for emergency fire starting, as a signal mirror for rescue, and as a makeshift hat when the aliens try to steal my brain. sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee

I read both of dog's books and really enjoyed them, but that statement is just plain stupid. sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee
