  1. I was driving around I-640 in Knoxvegas and saw a big sign for a place that said "Boats and Guns" near the Broadway exit. Anybody know the store? Any good? Thanx!

    G22 here, with a G19 coming soon.
  3. I went for a little while around 2pm. Didn't buy anything, but did see a few decent deals. It wasn't very crowded at all. It did seem to be a bit light on vendors. Oh well, another $9 gone.
  4. For quality and price, I agree that Saiga is the way to go. They're still affordable, and with a little conversion work you end up with a Russian AK rifle. I also have two WASR's, and they both work great. The WASR is a Romanian version of the AK. Lots of people have had problems with them. They used to be really cheap, but their price has really gone up to the point where the Saiga is a much better option.
  5. The Warsaw buttstock is about 1.25" shorter than the NATO version. The stock Saiga looks longer than an AK because the sporting buttstock is longer, and the handguard is longer than the normal AK handguards. If you replace them as part of the conversion process, the Saiga will look a lot different. Its a sweet rifle.
  6. Got my Saiga back from Predator. Great job, quick turn time, good price. Thanks guys!
  7. Where is the Norris range? Do you still have to stop by Norris PD and get a key? What's the annual membership ciost? We just moved to Powell, so Norris is now a lot closer than it used to be.
  8. I was thinking about painting a black polymer AK furniture set with desert tan Krylon Fusion paint designed for plastics. Has anyone used this stuff? I understand it resists scratches real well, but I'm not sure how it will do around a hot barrel.
  9. I'm taking it to Predator. They said they could have it back in 3 weeks at a dcent price.
  10. I called Premier. They're not taking any new business right now.
  11. Out of curiosity I checked their backlog. It looks like some people are waiting 8-9 months for delivery right now.
  12. I need to get the barrel of my Saiga 223 threaded. Anyone know a place in the Knoxville area that can do it? I checked with Troy at InRangeC2, but he isn't taking any new jobs right now. Plan B is renting the do-it-yourself kit that is floating around.
  13. I have a Del-Ton 20" and a 16" middie....very happy with both, especially for the price. Customer service is great. Del-Ton was really backed up for several months...hopefully they are getting caught up on orders. Check out their page over on arf.com for the latest.
  14. WAR EAGLE!
  15. My favorite cheapie is the Hi-Point 9mm carbine. Ugly, but a $50 ATI replacement stock helps a lot. I paid about $140 a few years ago. Even though they have gone up, its still a decent deal.
  16. I'm leaning toward the O/U for skeet shooting. No loyalty to Gander, they just had the Stoegers for $359. Thanks to all for the reports.
  17. I was looking at Stoeger over-and-under shotguns at Gander. They seem to be the cheapest shotguns they carried, but I'm not familiar with the brand. Has anyone had experience with Stoeger? Thanks.
  18. This might be the first nice thing ever said about Century's fit and finish:D
  19. I have two Del-Ton uppers mated with DoubleStar lowers. No problems with either.
  20. Thanks. Not cutting the hole might make it worth it. Does this work on Saiga rifles as well as the shotgun?
  21. I have a Del-Ton 16" middy carbine and a 20" A2, both on DoubleStar lowers. Both work great. I ordered the middy on Nov 10, and got it in late January. It sounds like the wait has gotten even worse.
  22. What's the advantage of this replacement trigger guard, especially for $45? I've just reused the original Saiga TG on my conversions. Just curious.
  23. I have three Century WASR 10's that all work just fine. I did have a feed problem with one of them, and Classic Arms promptly replaced it. I got them when the prices were under $300.....I wouldn't pay today's prices for them. See if you can find a Saiga and convert it.
  24. The Knoxville newspaper has a story about the number of permit holders in our area. While they don't technically publish the database, they refer readers to the Memphis newspaper site for the list. This would appear to be a sneaky way to allow them to say that they never published the info. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2009/mar/10/gun-carry-permits-on-rise/
  25. Saiga all the way.
