    Remington R-51

Looking forward to seeing this in person as well.  My wife and I are currently moving to the 9mm platform away from .380 and .40(respectively) and this gun has definitely caught my eye.  Sits low in the hand, points naturally(supposedly), single stack profile, 1911-ish easily reachable trigger, can handle +p.  On paper this looks like a contender for our CCW replacement pending reliability reports and pricing.   Would like an option for upgraded sights though from the factory....
  2. I believe SG just got in some nice looking Ukrainian cases of x39.  Tempted to pick up another for myself.  Its not yugo or golden tiger but it looks better than tula; not that there's anything wrong with tula necessarily.
  3. Always comes down to personal preference unless you really need a full featured MS Office install then you need windows in some flavor.  Personally I would rather have a single, very nice, custom Windows box at home with Ipads, and Android devices filling in the mobility needs.  At work I would rather have an iMac or Macbook pro w/ 16gb of ram and Vmware fusion to run windows boxes or whatever I need beyond OSx.
  4. I got that exact same release of the JD single barrel for my brother when he returned from Afghanistan a couple of weeks ago.  He said it was really good!
  5. Wow, up to $2,550 now on ebay.
  6. Still no additional movement on mine.  Order is still open and shipping TBD.  No hard case added yet and no serial information added to order.  Was hoping it would show up in time for Christmas but that is starting to look like it won't happen.
  7. Will try to head up there this weekend to pick mine up.
  8. sorry didn't see the original post
  9. "Could you look back for just one second?"  LOL
  10. Hated the second/new one. First one is one of my favorites though. If you've can find it streaming you should check out "Tomorrow when the war began". It's kind of an Australian version of red dawn that was done in 2010 and IMHO has much better story and acting.
  11. They all appear to be driver related on the surface. The top one seems to reference a FireWire driver issue and MS even has a hot fix available for it if that really is the problem. The older ones definitely point to an Ati video card driver issue. Removing the video card drivers and software and then installing the latest version from amd.com would probably be a good first step. You can usually just google the first stop error code and/or the referenced file such as 0x0000003b in the first screen capture or atikmpag.sys in the last two screen captures to find the most common issues and resolutions.
  12. Went but mostly just to pick up some extra .50 ammo cans so I can avoid black friday altogether this year.  They had plenty at $10 in almost new condition on several tables same as bass pro's ad.  Not tons of vendors but some decent ones.  Saw some good deals on cases of steel .223 and 7.62x39; .28 and .23 per round respectively.  Lots of C&R guns this time around.  Almost picked up a cz52 but backed away - gonna get a Yugo M48 instead  :woohoo:
  13. New product making its way around the net.       http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/11/21/recoil-rail/
  14. Just got a facebook post from them - their site is back up but sluggish due to the number of customers cruising around on it.
  15. Get 'em while you can!   http://www.classicfirearms.com/c-r-eligible/originalmolotm9130wbayob   :woohoo:
  16. Congrats!  still awaiting another update on mine.  What was your order# Batman?
  17. http://www.definitivearms.com/main_page.html   If you are thinking .223 you need to plan for a magwell conversion and these are the guys to do it.   Otherwise, the obvious answer is to get one in each caliber of course!
  18. Yeah, its sad but so far I've only got a few enblocs full of old M2 ball and the new manufacture PPU (supposedly FOR the garand specifically).  Hope to pick up some surplus from the CMP after the turn of the year once we get past our first of the year big bills, etc.

    The "Get Home" Gun

Since this is supposed to be focused on long guns mine will be an AK sbr in 7.62x39.  Either my krink or draco sbr.  Either one conceals very easy in a backpack and can be deployed very quickly.  I don't mind the weight for the purposes of getting from work to home, etc.  Once home I would probably switch to something lighter if it was just me and the wife bugging out together.
  20. Do people actually watch local fox news?
  21. That's a great deal.  No real reason for most to go above 60hz refresh.  If you are using it as a computer monitor for gaming then the 120 can be nice at times with certain games but most do fine with 60.  Most people's eyes can't handle more than 30-40 anyways.     ETA - looked at the ad and it says that model is a 120hz refresh so I guess you are heading to wally world for sure eh?
  22. Wow, very cool piece of history you have there!
  23. Awesome!  Still nothing else new on my end.  Hopefully mine gets another update in a couple of days since it seems to be right behind yours thus far.
  24.   I think they said largest centerfire rifle in the world.  I'm guessing other recoilless rifles, grenade launchers like the Mikor and etc are maybe outside of that scope?   And as to "why?"  Why not?  Because he can I'm guessing.  Loads of people own different types of firearms that are impractical to say the least.  Also cost is subjective.  $40 a round may mean nothing to the owner; who knows what his disposable income is. I'm sure if he has the coin to drop on that prototype and the ammo he probably has a couple of barret's or accuracy internationals sitting in the safe too that are a bit more practical.
  25. Well I guess its time to pick another hobby if we need a reason to own a certain type of firearm now  :P
