  1. I am not a Glock fan, but they hit home-runs with the G30 and G30SF. For me, it is the perfect compromise of size, capacity, and .45ACP. If you use the 9rd mags, it is almost the same size as a G26 or G27. Use the 10rd mag, and it is only slightly smaller than a G19 or G23.
  2. I have the green front and orange rear Mepro's on my G30, and I really like them. I don't like the stock Glock sights, and have tried several other options.
  3. I think you will find that most ranges are pretty restrictive to long guns. I don't know of any indoor ranges that allow shotguns, except On Target. Also, you will probably find pretty sever restrictions on rifles.
  4. Thanks for the clarification Whiskey.
  5. There is also a range at the Cheatham WMA. It is probably not as well run as the Stones River site, but is open during the week. You have to buy a pass, but I don't think the check them.
  6. A lot of good advice and hard earned lessons here. Thank you for sharing.
  7. I would definitely run that one by a warden in your area. Many years ago, I used one of my hounds to track a deer for a friend. Afterwards, I asked a warden for an opinion. His take was that hunting and tracking a wounded animal were two different activities. As long as the dog was on a leash and you were obviously tracking, he was fine with being armed. I can see where another warden would see it differently.
  8. Never would have thought of that. Great tip Also, if tracking at night, use a coal oil lantern. Something about the quality of light really makes a blood trail stand out. I bought one of the new flashlights built for that purpose. They work, but not much better.
  9. They have a few Sigs, but they didn't have any P220s last time I was there.
  10. The best Sig selections around Nashville are Guns and Leather, Franklin Gun, and the Outpost Armory. You might want to call around and see if they have the models you are interested in.
  11. Come on guys. Caster made a slightly ambiguous comment and quickly clarified his statement.
  12. Consult an attorney If I understand the law correctly, if the car was involved in the activity and he had permission to use the car, then the seizure is legal. She is responsible for the vehicle, unless it is stolen. She wouldn't have to know that it was used or likely to be used in the illegal activity. Just to illustrate, lets look at a traffic camera violation. The citation is issued based on the plate number, not the driver's license. The registered owner of the vehicle is responsible for it's operation and the payment of the citation. I know there are some differences between criminal and administrative responsibility, but I believe you would be fighting an uphill battle.
  13. In Tennessee? Do tell
  14. Coyotes are not a native species, and hazardous to the balance of the ecology of the State. They upset the natural balance. They also have the misfortune of being essentially inedible and worthless pelts.
  15. Call the TWRA about your license. According to what I saw in a quick search, it requires a $10 Type 198 license - Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Hunting License Fees I have never set out to specifically hunt coyotes, I have always considered them a target of opportunity. I am sure, if you ask around, that there are plenty of farmers that would love to have someone thin their coyote herd.

    New Toy

That is pretty sweet. Really like the new stock system. The 700 AAC-SD is a great little rifle.
  17. I wouldn't overlook the Savage either. As has been said, the Ruger 10/22 is really tough to beat. At least around here, they can be found in your price range. I believe that Dick's has them for $189, but I could be wrong (just as my wife). The aftermarket options for the 10/22 are just amazing, especially compared to the competition.
  18. Do you have an action preference?
  19. I'll offer a penny more, and I am local. Seriously, if you don't understand how it works, seek professional help before you try to do any home-gunsmithing.
  20. I would take it to a gunsmith if you are going to make any changes. It would be a shame to ruin a perfectly good shotty because you don't know what you are doing.
  21. Not if you intend on purchasing a firearm in that caliber. I have been keeping my eye on .300WSM brass for several months now, anticipating a future rifle purchase.
  22. A good and timely reminder. I would also note that Tennessee Wildlife Federation has several processing centers that participate in the Hunters for the Hungry program.
  23. The Process Server is guilty to using very poor judgement, but not much else (maybe disturbing the peace). Should he have acted in a reasonable manner, sure. Should he have announced himself and his intentions, sure. Unless he threatened you or your mother with bodily harm, you don't have a right to threaten him with harm. Threatening to kick in a door kick in a door isn't a threat against you. Had he said teeth instead of door, it would be a whole different scenario.
  24. Amen
  25. You probably just need to try heavier loads. Your setup appears to be a defensive shotgun, which are usually designed for higher pressure loads. Pick up a couple boxes of 00 Buck and see how it cycles. I imagine it is just sprung too heavy for the field loads you are trying to use.
