  1. The mentally defective language was clarified, but I couldn't find where the substance abuse was changed.
  2. Agreed, but they do generally present the facts. Their analysis is often questionable.
  3. If it was part of his plea or a condition of his sentence, then it should be part of the record. If he did it prior to conviction to obtain leniency from the court, it may not be. Regardless, it would be a very bad idea to lie on his application.

  5. From the same website
  6. Above is from the DOS website regarding requirements. There are also restrictions if you have sought treatment for substance addiction.
  7. I draw a pretty clear distinction between gear and gadget. Gear, I will experiment with to find what works best. I probably went through 20 or 25 climbing stands in the late 80's and early 90's, until I found my Summit Saber. I have experimented with a few friend's newer and lighter stands, but haven't found anything that is a stable and quiet as mine. Gadgets, I really try to stay away from. I occasionally give in to the hype, but almost always regret it. I almost dread turkey and bow seasons because of the amount of crap I tend carry. I went through my turkey stuff last night trying to find my modified choke tube, and set the box aside to go through this weekend and thin it out. Turkey calls and bow accessories are the worst. I do tend to keep a lot of extra gear in the truck, but try to keep what I carry on me to a minimum. This is mostly because I live in the city now, and it is a pretty good drive to where I have hunted the last several years. For the most part, I just haven't been able to correlate hunting success to any of the gadgets I have purchased over the years. For me, that is the bottom line. Find what works for me, and stick with it.
  8. That is sweet. I have built a handful of kit guns, but nothing like that. It's hard to beat those Green Mountain barrels for a big bore front-loader.
  9. It is just a quirk of the G30 10 round mags. I haven't been able to figure it out, but I have had 5 10rd mags and all but one have had the rattle. Once they are broken in, tap it a couple of time to seat the rounds to the back of the mag and it pretty much goes away. It seems to be much more pronounced when they are new. Regardless, it doesn't affect performance. I am going to order a couple of the 9 rd mags for summer carry. Hopefully they won't have the same issue.
  10. I went for an hour or so before I got called back to work. It was packed with folks, and just a handful of birds.
  11. When I carry my G30, it is in a Crossbreed Supertuck. I have had both the SF and standard, and both fit fine.
  12. Biggest no-no in the dove field - don't shoot at low birds. IIRC, you have to keep the head or wing attached if you dress them in the field. There really isn't any need to dress them in the field. Just keep them out or the sun, and they will be fine.
  13. I believe all of the .30-06 Model 700s are long action. The receiver screw spacing is different and the best way to tell. IIRC, the short actions are about 6 1/2" apart, and the long actions are a little over 7 1/4". I am sure it is posted somewhere on the web.
  14. That is slightly flawed logic Most of them just want to be re-elected. The money follows
  15. Sounds like you have a choice to make. Go full bore new age, or restore. it. I would restore if practical, but go nuts on a conversion if that wasn't practical.
  16. Looks good (and somewhat familiar). I think I am going green on my next build.
  17. Unfortunately, they have gone to polymer action assembly (at least on some models). I am not sure how long ago, but my latest has it. If it has been sold, then it should be listed "as new", but not new. I don't have a lot of issues with the store selling this one as new, but they should have made you aware that it had been around that long and that variation had been discontinued. The 870 Wingmaster barrels are interchangeable with all 870s (just make sure you watch the chamber length). IIRC, the SP and Express barrels are also interchangeable (again, be careful about chamber length). Probably not going to match your camo pattern, but will help with functionality.
  18. Even if it is allowed, I wouldn't work a new or questionable dog on a public hunt. We had one a few years back that kept picking up our birds and taking them back to his owner. There have been times that wouldn't bother me, but this was a slow hunt.
  19. I have been scouting fields around Nashville for a couple weeks now, and my only concern is that they may have come in a little early.
  20. I have shot both of these, and they are a lot of fun. Not as accurate or reliable as the Buckmark, Neos, or Mark 3, but still a blast.

  24. The Beretta and Ruger are both good options, and I agree with the others comments. The Beretta trigger leaves a little to be desired. Only have a few hundred round through one, but it was reliable and accurate. The Ruger's are a pain to clean, but look at the Majestic kit. They help. This is also probably the best platform if you want to customize in the future. The Tactical Solution barrels are awesome. Personally, I like the Browning Buckmark, but they are generally a little more expensive. It can be a little picky about some ammo, but the Remington bulk is the only thing I have had a lot of trouble out of.
