Opened a time capsule tonight--WW1 stuff--Please help I.D.
quietguy replied to Parrothead's topic in General Chat
What a find. Wish I could help you sort out the details. I agree with Caster's sentiments. We owe a great debt to this gentleman. -
You do understand how ignorant the RINO designation is, don't you? By this standard, Reagan and Nixon would be flaming liberals. Who do you hold up as a true Republican? Do I wish that Beth was a little more conservative? Absolutely. Do I wish she was more supportive of my 2nd Amendment rights? Absolutely. But, if she was any more conservative, her seat would probably be occupied be a Democrat.

I haven't officially done the trail, but have been to most of the distilleries. Buffalo Trace and Woodford were the best, IMHO.

The Sig Night Sights are pretty vanilla. If that is what you want, then go for it. It is cheaper to order with them than add them later. I am a huge fan of the Sig platform. Personally, I would go for the SAS. SRT is a fantastic upgrade. Compare to a Glock, the P229 will be heavy and significantly larger than a G27. What you gain is the safety of a DA first round, and a great SA trigger.

I really like the look and reviews of the Fenix lights. I just haven't found anyone around there that carries them. Just need to take the plunge and order one.
-
I agree. You and I will never see eye to eye, but I respect your opinion (however wrong it may be).
-
Welcome, and congrats on the purchase.

I believe that transaction has to go through a FFL. I wouldn't take any chances.

While I agree that someone selling 40 guns wouldn't pass the "sniff test" under most circumstances, bright line rules also box in those with a legitimate reason to sell. As mentioned earlier, if I were diagnosed with a terminal illness and decided to liquidate my collection rather than leave it for my estate. If I do not make a profit or living from the transactions, then I do not fit the criteria for a FFL.
-
Thank you for proving my point. We already have a definition of those engaged in the business of selling arms. Why choose an arbitrary number for limits on the number of sales? If I don't intend to make a "livelihood and profit", why should I be subjected to the additional scrutiny? Again, I don't want to start or perpetuate a running argument. I am just trying to get an understanding of where you are coming from.

For a carry light, I have found it hard to beat the Streamlight ProTac 1L or 2L. They are quite a bit brighter than most of the "cheap" lights I have tried, and both have a strobe function. I have been pretty disappointed in the two Surefires I have tried. No real issues, but they drain batteries quicker than the Streamlights, and haven't been as durable. I am going to have to visit my Big Lots tomorrow to try the Coast light you mentioned. I keep a 4 D-Cell LED MagLite by my bedside. Not the brightest, but can be used as a blunt instrument if the situation calls for it.
-
Don't we already do that? If you have no intention of making a profit from the gun trade, you can't get a FFL (outside of the C&R). It seems a little backwards, if you goal is to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, that you go after the sellers.

The better question is how successful. I love to shoot trap, skeet, and sporting clays.

That has been my observation with the Remington (I think it was a SPS Varmint, but may have been another model) and Savage as well. Just wish they would mark the barrels as such.
-
Take a look at the stock on the SPS Tactical, and pay attention to the forearm. I have a AAC SPS Tactical in .308, and that is the one weakness of the system. If you use a bipod or a bag towards the front end of the forearm, the stock has enough flex to contact the barrel. Otherwise, it is a fantastic rifle and I plan to replace the stock soon (just too many choices out there). If I were in your shoes, I would definitely lean towards the Savage or CZ. Both should be in the same price range as the Remington, and a little better rifle. Out of the box, I would pick the CZ. If it is a platform you want to build on, then Savage or Remington would be the way to go. CZ also specs their rifles to the 556 spec.

Optical clarity and light transmission really show up in low light conditions. The quality of the coatings show up in bright direct sun. Personally, I generally go with Leupold or Nikon mid-priced scopes.

And was intended to be a nebulous request. Considering what stances currently comprise the "liberal agenda", how do you explain a pro-gun stance? This is just to satisfy my curiosity. I have no intention for a running debate of your personal convictions. Just want to understand where you are coming from.
-
First, I may replicate the sign the OP posted. I have a few neighbors that need a little comeuppance. Second, can one of the pro-gun liberals please provide a little insight into your justification for your stances? I am just curious how you get there.

Carrying a "Compact" 1911 - "Advanced" carry gun?
quietguy replied to Viracnis's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The CBST is a little better holster IMHO. The King Tuck is a fine option, but doesn't look to be as well put together as the Crossbreed. -
I ankle carry occasionally, but usually as a last resort or backup. As stated above, buy a good holster. The Galco Ankle Glove is probably the easiest to find. I would recommend active retention on your Sig (thumb strap). Also, it takes a lot of practice to be able to effectively draw from an ankle holster. Just like most methods of carry, it has its benefits and downfalls.
