I am with Dolomite. I want to be ready if Kenya or West Virginia come knocking.

I have to agree with Kwe, the green tritium is brighter and works better in a front sight for me.

I haven't tried it yet, but picked up a bottle a few days back. We have a pre-Halloween party tomorrow night, and I plan on taking a shot or two. I am not generally a Jim Beam fan, but really like a oaky whiskey.

I couldn't disagree more. Tritium sights are fool-proof, as long as you swap them before they are depleted. Flashlights and weapon-mounted lights fail when you need them most. I prefer and use both, but won't count on either. A good set of night-sights is an absolute necessity for my defense guns. I factor it into my purchase. Personally, my aging eyes prefer the green/amber or green/orange combinations. The contrast really helps picking up the front sight in quick shoot training, without giving up accuracy at range.

McEwen has the Irish Picnic the last weekend of July. I haven't been in a few years, but is special event for a good cause. Best pulled pork ever, and only comes around once a year. Rugby, right outside the Big South Fork, is a great area to spend a little time. Reelfoot lake area is a great little getaway. Montgomery Bell State Park is a great place to spend a few days. They have a good golf-course if that is your thing, a pretty cool Inn, and cabins. They have a couple of playgrounds for the kids, etc. Jonesborough, TN has a Storytelling Festival that my wife and I really enjoy. As Tennessean's. we are blessed to have some of the most diverse and interesting culture in our country. I could spend a few years just traveling around the State and experiencing it all. I have seen the world, but nothing compares to what Tennessee has to offer.

Go to Ophelia Ford's district in Memphis, and they will give you a second, third, and maybe even a fourth chance to cast your ballot. Forms of ID accepted include death certificates (you get to vote twice if the services were held at NJ Ford Funeral Home). It won't really change your choices on the ballot, but will give a couple more opportunities to complain that you were disenfranchised.

For overall effectiveness, I would agree. However, a legal length double is quite a bit shorter than a pump and easier to maneuver room to room (unless you cut down the stock).

I was just kidding. Unfortunately, I have a couple of those myself.

What is this thing? Mobile big brother?
quietguy replied to Hi Point Hooligan's topic in General Chat
State law. Traffic cameras are legal in very limited applications. They require very strict posting and location requirements, and there are situations where they cannot be used (right on red, etc). -

Not in TN. -
Stag is under-rated IMHO. They make some nice rifles, including a lot of the earlier S&W M&Ps. I am interested to see a little more detail on the carrier on this one.

State requirements haven't changed. Kudos to the vendor for going above and beyond.

Any center fire cartridge firing non-fmj ammo is legal now.

I am maniacal about keeping knives sharp. A dull knife is as worthless as an unloaded gun. First, learn how to sharpen a knife using stones and a strop. This is a basic skill that everyone should have. Second, the Lansky and Tormek systems rock. The Lansky system will put the best edge on a knife that I have experienced. Their sapphire stones are amazing. Third, take a look at the Work Sharp Knife and Tool system. They need a little more variety in their abrasive selection, but it may be the easiest to use and capable electric sharpener I have ever seen.

Can you describe the hunting environment? You budget is pretty limited. You can pick up a used Marlin 336 or Winchester 94 in your price range, but if the property is open you may want something that shoots flatter.

IMHO, that is the biggest problem with Walmart. Funny Walmart story - I made the horrible mistake of going in to pick up a couple of last minute Christmas items at the West Nashville location a few years ago. I saw three people shoplifting in the melee, and reported it to the manager. The manager thanked me, and said that they had a pretty good handle on the situation, and to check out the garden center as I left. As I walked out of the store, Metro Police had what looked like a cab stand setup on that side of the store. One patrol car would pull up, load up a couple of perps and pull away. The next cruiser would pull up a few seconds later and load up a couple more.

Metro Nashville amendment 3 - Sheriff
quietguy replied to monkeylizard's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It really doesn't do much, but I still voted no. If Metro puts it on the ballot, I am against it. Davidson County is a mess when it comes to law enforcement functions. The below link is a fairly accurate description of the purpose of the amendment - http://nashvillecitypaper.com/content/city-news/charter-amendment-would-clarify-sheriffs-disputed-287g-authority -
I have to weigh in on this one. In this situation, I have to think that you have to give the benefit of the doubt to the store. If the clerk refused the sale because the girl was too small, then he is out of line. If he thought that it was a straw sale, then he did the right thing. Walmart doesn't sell guns because they believe in the 2nd Amendment, they do it because it is profitable. I seriously doubt they have a consistant social agenda one way or another. The cost to the company for a potentially bad sale is worse than turning away a customer, which is why so many stores quit carry firearms. I also see that the customer was trying to avoid a straw purchase, but would still defer to the store. In the same situation, I would have asked for a manager and offer to have background checks done on both of us. If mine came back rejected, I would pay for both. If both came back clean or her's came back rejected, the store would have to pay for mine. TICS can handle that on a call in (at least they could a couple of years ago), but I don't think they can online.

Ask Ray Blanton how those type of shenanigans work out.

The 1800 election was before the 12th Amendment, so it really doesn't apply. 1824 is an interesting analogy but the likelihood of results being litigated are much greater than that scenario.

I went to Howard School around 10am, and was in and out in about 20 minutes.

Check with an electrical or low-voltage supply house. They will have Wiremold and Panduit, and is usually in a far greater selection of sizes.
