  1. I'm trying to lose my pot belly, can't get to my mag holsters in decent fashion! lololololol
  2. Like I said before, I ALWAYS turn on my phone audio recorder when I'm speaking with LE. Reason, Officer _______ from the state police pulled me over on I-65. He immediately began rough interrogation methods on me and my PREGNANT wife, scared her to death I might add. Won't go through all the details, but it ended up he was set up for a Narcotics sting and had me out with my hands on the car while the drug dogs spent 30 min sniffing a 100 yard radius of our vehicle. After about an hour of speaking with other reasonable officers, and explaining that my record was completely clean they let me off with my first ever speeding ticket - 10MPH over. I talked to my former pastor who is retired from the SP and he said it's fairly normal and common for things like this to happen, said the guy was probably pissed off because they most likely hit me and missed the runner they were looking for. I would have been a little more understanding if it had just been me in the car, obviously I was upset about my wife and unborn child be treating like dog s***. So from now on I turn the recorder on whenever I speak with LE.
  3. Love my Tenacious! Those are some lucky friends...
  4. From the sound of it, this officer should have been studying the laws a little more and playing Call of Duty a little less.
  5. For the record, my mind is not made up on this subject one way of the other, I have a view on what seems like just cause in my mind, and the officer did not follow it. This would be from common sense, and my own dealings with LE when it comes to firearms. I'm not even going to pretend I know all the laws and loopholes of how an altercation like this should work, especially when it varies state to state, and apparently city to city. Common sense tells me that an officer of the law should NEVER EVER open draw on someone walking down the street with their back to him/her. I understand a cop not wanting to assume that the person is legally carrying a weapon (for the LEO's own protection), but again, muzzling someone when their weapon is holstered doesn't sound like the proper way to handle something like this. Especially when you don't even know what the law you think your enforcing actually is. Here's a question for the retired LEO's. What if YOU are carrying OWB with a shirt over your rig, somehow an on duty officer sees your piece and pulls on YOU, forces you to the ground threatening to "F***** Kill You". You are well within the law, and you know it. But he doesn't, all he sees is a weapon and he thinks your not supposed to have it. Do you think he is out of line with that or not?
  6. I understand, and I agree the story seems one-sided, the guy sounded like he was going to be a handful from the beginning. I don't have any type of LE background like many of you do on this forum, other than some family and friends of mine that are in LE and I've dealt with plenty as a civilian. My take on this is coming strictly from a civilian standpoint, and is based on the information as I have read. To me, the correct way of handling the situation as the officer would have started by addressing the guy as "sir" and if he feels threatened by the individual, having his hand on his firearm HOLSTERED instead of already muzzling the guy. Knowing the laws, he could have instructed him to keep his hands in the open while he disarmed or checked for the proper identification. If I were in the situation I would have been ok and felt comfortable with that, if I turned to the words "Hey Junior" to see someone with a firearm trained at me I would be upset and in instant defense mode as well. I think the civi and the LEO were both wrong. Unless the guy is a total idiot, and intent on just causing problems for the PD, I'm sure he will not act the same way again. And I'm pretty sure the officer will not act the same way again either when faced with a similar situation. You can't say "better safe than sorry" and draw on innocent, law abiding citizens, that's not how it works...
  7. So do you believe all carry permit holders should be treated guilty until proven otherwise?
  8. I partially agree, however, if the officer knew the laws of the county he works and lives in then the issue would have been minor at best IMO. Seems like it would be one of the more important laws to know off-hand.
  9. Apparently Philly police are bad on stuff like this. I have a recording app on my Iphone and I always turn it on when I am speaking with LEO's, specifically in Nashville. I know most the guys here in my town so it's normally a non-issue. I do not, however, open carry. But I probably would if I lived in Philly, the situation ended with the COP saying my bad and giving him back all his stuff, weapon included. Nice.
  10. I can't order online with my mac, I have to go to someone's house and use a PC. I generally just call to place an order, because I always had the online purchasing error. Just an FYI, buds pings your account with $1 charges every time you attempt an order. I was out $6 bucks before I realized it and called the store to order, make sure you take care of those...
  11. Some of you might have seen this already, pretty interesting situation here. Like to know ya'lls opinion on this, and if any of you that open carry have had issues here in TN. Philadelphia Open-carrier Harassed by Police with Audio Kind of a long listen, I'm only through the first part myself.
  12. I would agree with that, only I'm not a glock fan
  13. Picked up a NIB FNP-40, I've seen a lot of comparisons with this handgun to a like-caliber Sig p229. Aesthetically I personally prefer the look of the FNP more, and the price helps too. We haven't fired the handgun yet, weather was bad, so bad in fact that, yesterday, the BG check systems were down in our neck of the woods here in Dickson. Had to wait until today to finalize the gun sale. My initial impressions. Pros - Very light, just under 24oz with the mag. Easy to field strip, similar to my XdM. Lock the slide back, flip the slide lock (down, instead of up like on an XdM), release the slide and it's apart. Ambi Manual de-cocker and safety, we opted for the de-cocker+ safety model. Nice trigger, granted we haven't put rounds down range, but with snap caps the trigger is smooth throughout. 10 lb Double-action pull, transitions to a 3.5 lb single action pull. Nice visible three dot sights. Cons - I don't really like the mag release, it is reversible, for lefties, but the actual release button sits a little too low in the grip for my liking. It really takes some leverage/pressure to release the mag in order for it not to stick while ejecting. Even with my big hands I have to adjust my hand uncomfortably to get enough leverage for a sure release of the mag. I expect, with time, that this release will come easier, IMO an extended mag release would instantly fix this for me. (I've heard of people sanding down the area around the release to give the button a little more extension, could be a future option). 14+1 rounds, isn't that big of a downer, but it seems like the norm these days is 15+1, and my XdM being 16+1 obviously takes the cake for capacity. The grip is shorter for the FNP though, so you could call it a trade off. Overall I think we're gonna be happy with this guy. NIB this system includes a lockable carry case, 3 14+1 mags, locking system, and two types (2) of back straps. No Bore brush though... Here's a few Pics, probably have more during/after we shoot it.
  14. Tornado just passed through us in Dickson, you guys in nashville and the boro get your heads down, tore part of the roof off of the high school here.
  15. @camp, Have you dealt with "Taylor Guns" in Downtown Dickson? I saw on buds.com that he was a listed FFL. I called him up, and met him at his "shop". It isn't a gun shop, its just his old machining shop that he has his office in. He gave me a copy of his FFL and said he would be happy to transfer anything I want. He told me $25 total for Transfer fee AND BG check. He also mentioned if I were to order more than one firearm at a time it would just be an additional $5 per gun. He was a really nice older gentleman and we ended up talking in his place about 30 min, he showed me his personal Kimber and Springfield 1911's and showed me his reload ammo that he shoots. I'm definitely gonna transfer to him on my 1911 purchase I'm about to make.
  16. I would also say, if I could get a gun from a local dealer for $30-40 dollars more than what I could do an online purchase and transfer I would gladly go with a local Dealer. Because I believe in supporting my local gun shops and its nice to walk out the door with the gun the same day. JUST for Example, I picked up my NIB Xdm from Bud's for $600 out the door ($560 for the gun, $30 Transfer fee, $10 BG check) My local gun store wanted the same gun for $680 + %10 tax + BG Check = $760 (+/- a few bucks) There's no way I would even consider doing that. Not in this economy...

I love that guys videos, he's so cool. He and Hickok45 are both in TN right?
  18. I will stop in next time my wife is at Sam's shopping, sounds like just another gun shop to me though. Dickson Sportsman has helpful people in there, but I can't afford their prices and they seem annoyed when I ask for FFL transfers so it doesn't really matter...
  19. Five Seven is probably a great gun, I've never shot it, but I think it's ugly as anything. My brother has the FNp series .40 cal, shoots great and is a lot easier on the eyes.
  20. The Springer 1911 loaded is gonna be my next 1911. Mid to upper level quality at the bottom of your price range means more room for upgrades
  21. You will be happy. My 3.8" XdM .40 is a little bit "snappy" but it's really accurate for a more compact barrel gun.
  22. I haven't tried out the other backstraps for my XdM either, and since I've already put a good amount rounds to target I'd be worried about changing my comfort level, maybe I'll go find a punch and try them all out anyway
  23. Dickson PD is usually pretty good, glad to hear they didn't force you to the ground or anything, of course I know most of the guys but that doesn't mean a whole lot lol
  24. This thread is most definitely worth my first post. Happy 1911 day EVERYONE, and thank you JMB, I thank God for you
