  1. It is reference to locking your magazine into place then loading it by releasing the bolt to allow it to load. Followed by rotate the selector switch to fire and watch your lanes. This is for the Army on current range commands for a qualification range. This is they way it has been done for at least the last 35 years or my tours as a Drill. The other reason for the command if for prior to going out. IE the wire/safe zone. According to a good source that trained on the M14 and M1. The weapons were carried non chambered to the range with the bolt closed. Hence lock was to lock the bolt to the rear and load to insert the e clip to allow it to go forward. On a M14 it was the same reason as listed above for the M16 family of rifles.
  2. My Son has had the Rossi 22/410 and now the 22/20 guage set up for over four years. They have been great. When he gets bored I let him have at the S&W MP22. You should seel the smile on their face. Teaching with a single shot is a good thing. The first set I passed on to my nephews. The second set came with fire sights which made a big difference. Rossi was a few years ago going to offer a barrel upgrade program. I haven't looked into it in awhile. There are some three barrel sets. I was thinking .223 or .243. They came in a little cordua case that was easily packed even in a backpack. Hell I even like shooting it. Great value for the price.
  3. Does anyone have any eperiance or own a Walther PPS in 9mm or .40 that can give me some insight or feedback on them. I saw them sub $500.00 this week end new and it has renewed my intrest in one. Thanks for your help!
  4. I have one and love due to traveling alot with the military. I can downoad PDF's and Military reference material to it. I also can have my Bible and Book of Comman Prayer to include over 3000 books. Mine also has a experemental browser on it that has help me out a time or two. I even got on TGO. It's a pain in the ass to work the browser but they are working on it. I still read alot of printed material when at home. I hate the downloads are as much as the physical book. But there are alot of free classics and sharing is now comming around.
  5. We went today and stayed till closing. I saw some good deals and bought a few items. One guy was selling Walther PPS's in 9 or .40 for 499.00. New Glocks in the 489.00 range. Saw quite a few unique pieces. All in all a good day with my son. Lol, got lowball like crazy on the S&W I carried to sell. A lot on nice dealers today and had some great conversations.
  6. Glad you had a good experiance with his shop. But look at all the business this has cost him now. The more I read this the more it pisses me off. You never know who you are really talking to on the phone or in a email.
  7. My Son and I headed down today. I'll be the old bald dude wearing a U of South Carolina windbreaker. Taking a S&W 637 38+p snub nose to trade or sell.
  8. Kudos, to all of trying to discuss or make the owner of this store aware of basic business especially in this economy. What a horrible reply to a customer. I travel quite a bit with the military and am known to get around. Precision Firearms at this point wouldn't get any of my business. I will make sure when I visit my units in the area they will all be informed. Soldiers tend to buy a lot of firearms. Firearms always gets discussed at the Drill Hall during my visits. I wished I could say what I really feel. Even my wife read the reply and is taken back and stated she could not believe the gun stores email.
  9. I use Birchwood Casey Stock Sheen and Conditioner. The stuff works great and has some mild abrasives in it. I have even used it to remove marker, pen and crayon marks on the wood furniture by the little ones. They make an entire line for stocks which most professionals use. Birchwood Casey: Finishing List
  10. Very nice, next on my list. I missed one last month due to thinking about it one day to long. Give us a report when you have time.
  11. Bud, I thought you were already out the door. I just got through pushing out the 535th to where you are going. They got there on the 25th. If you or your Family need anything let me know. God Speed and keep your head down. We lost two there last September so be careful.
  12. My wife and I are both Veterans. I am still serving. We went to the Olive Garden tonight with the family and they gave us both a free dinner. When we were getting ready to leave they then handed us a little card that said Thank You. Inside was a $10.00gift card, one for each of us. Kudos to the Olive garden. I was speechless after a free meal. I will be writing a letter to their corporate headquarters. I am in the Army doing full time Reserve duty. I have served in many units over 35 years and have always been a Medic.
  13. Another great .22 is the SIG Trailside. They were made by Hammerli for SIG. Thay can be had used between 400-500 dollars. The pistol is still made by Hammerli as the Xesse .22 starting around 800.00. As mentioned before there are alot of Hi-Standards around 250-500. Rugers are good but thay have to be tweaked. I have a Norinco copy of a Walter Olympia. It shoots better than I can. A lot of bang for the buck.
  14. I would go with a .243. Due the wide variety of bullets available in different grains.
  15. I have a 422 in a 6". It is a great little .22
  16. Springfield Loaded.
  17. My first rifle, a Sako Finnbear Fullstock carbine in 30'06. But I have a AR in .308 to try out if I ever get her sighted in.
  18. I prefer the variety known a Genesis Granite, as the local variety of Limestone is to soft or brittle. The size is standard GAB for my purposes. You say it is what I grew up on.
  19. I did this once and it made a huge mess because of the wax/ lube on the bullets. I would just wash them off and let them dry on a towel. The lube got over the entire round and caused extraction and buildup issues in the chamber on my automatics.. This was with Eley .22 ammo
  20. See Below.
  21. A win is a win. We didn't play than well either. SC made just as many mistakes. I remember when I went to school at USC and we would win 1 out of 10. The crowd still stayed and didn't abandon their team. UT fans jump ship before the half. UT fans are some of the winiest I have ever met. BTW Spurrier is not leaving USC because of the perks. He also manage to recruit the some of the best players in the nation the last two years. I for one am glad after 30 years USC has had some sucess these past few years. I guess my most memorable experiance as we were leaving Neyland was being called #$%&* Suckers by middle aged UT fans with their children present while I was walking with mine to the car. " Go Gamecocks"
  22. I run 20 GI mags with the green follower at the range. No issues.
  23. Very nice, what LGS has them in stock/on the way?
  24. I'm looking at the new Ultra Dot 6 for the AR. The Matchdot's and Ultradot's are fine equipment but a lttle more than your stated $100.00. They have a strong following in match shooting all over the world and a life time warranty to boot .Ultra Dot West Home But the Bushnell is getting ordered tomorrow for my AK bulid.
  25. I also ordered a kit today. I went with the Hogue and the ATI Collapsible/Folding stock after reading the reviews. But my conversion is on a 5.45.
