Recommendation Needed - rifle for a young girl's first firearm
R1100R replied to RobertNashville's topic in Long Guns
My Daughter has a Savage Cub-T in Pink. It comes with a Accu-trigger a wood stock and peep sights. It is very accurate. Hell, I even like shooting it. They make one without the thumb hole stock and in pink, or natural wood. Her's was around 220.00. It like a scaled down MKII. A real rifle feel. My Son started out on a Rossi Youth matched pair 22LR/.410 and now has a 22/ 20 gauge set. It is a break open and comes with Williams Firesights. It is also available in pink. Around 140.00 with a nice case for all barrels and reciever. I have shot the little Cricket rifles and they are nice for the money. We do own a M&P15-22 which is the most fun I have purchased in a long while. One size fits all. Around $400 when I got mine. They will wear out a brick of .22 in no time. Extra mags are $18. It is alot of fun and shoots bulk great. It goes to the range every time we go. -
There is a product called HARD HAT for Severns Custom. https://severnscustom.com/Hard_Hat_Treatment.html From what I have heard it is the real deal. Does allot of Dan Wesson SS pistols. It is not cheap and it is not spray on. Last time I check it was 300.00 for a pistol.

I really started to like this show in the middle. Not enough westerns on TV. I am looking to next season also.

Being that the OP that you quoted in the above thread was started almost two years ago, I'd say lets have some fun with it. Buy the way " How bad does KAF really suck?" , Daniel be good over there.

If you ever seen a Bushmaster Feed Ramp for a 7.62X39 upper it is huge. The whole bottom ramp is just one machined big ramp.

Whos going to the Nash Fair gounds gunshow Jan 14/15?
R1100R replied to BLACKVANDRIVER's topic in Events and Gatherings
I went with my Daughter. Walked out with another Hi-Power. This one about 85% on the finish but no dings, gouges or dings in the metal, I'm thinking Hard Chrome for the new finish. Ex-Austrian Police Model. I got it for a great price. Got some SV Target .22 for a good price and my baby got her a keychain LED flashlight-2 for the price of one. I should of let her negotiate on the Hi Power. LOL It was small be people were buying and selling. met dlm30715 and he was busy. He had some good buys, I was tapped out from the Hi Power. -
I like the color. Very Nice. I have a slide I may send them.

I'm heading over with my Daughter. I 'll have on a dark red hoodie with CAROLINA on it. Look forward to meeting some of you. Can anyone tell me what is "dlm37015" booth,Company or name or is at in the show? -
When I first came in we weren't assigned a weapon at all. Although I qualified with a M16. Next it was a .45 for the protection of the wounded. When I flew Dustoff it was a pencil barreled MDL 10. When I went on my first vacation in El Salvador it was the MDL 10 and anything I could get my hands on (AKM). Later on it was a old XM177 or Commando for air crews. Then all Medic's in lower grade carried a rifle. On my last MOB they took up the entire units rifles and issued M9's just before boarding the plane at the CO's request. (Running Camp Victory). My new unit is MP's so you can get to qualify on 249's, M4, M9, Mark II and Sigs if you ask and the ammo is available. For the most part the ODA's have always been special (STFO). They sure have changed over the years. But great guys from my experience and when riding shotgun for a MEDIVAC with me way down south. I sure have some stories.

I have been looking at a Neos and the carbine upgrade. At Rimfire Central there is a lot of info. I own quite a few .22 handguns, so I guess I might be a bit of a collector. I have a S&W 422 in a six inch that is a great gun and accurate. I have to many friends with a 22A that have ammo issues. The Neos is based on a proven design the Hi-Standard Duramatic, when Hi Standard shut down Colt pick the design up with it Cadet model. Both are not made anymore. The Duramatic is now being built again in SS by the new Hi Standard Company in TX. With a MSRP of around $500. The Cadets lower was synthetic like the Neos. The 22a has a large grip where the Neos is smaller. Both have triggers that are ok. But to me better than a Ruger MK III out of the box. But there are tutorials on the web on how to tweak them. I love my Duramatic, had it for over 30 years. That is why I am leaning toward the Neos.

+ 1 on Carolina Shooters Supply. Good people to boot. They always answer the phone if you have any questions on your build or their parts.

There are a lot of 220 Carry's dumped on the market to include 220 SAO Carry that CDNN carried a few months ago. They were sold at really cheap prices. Sig in Germany is still producing guns. About six months ago some new 225's were available where they haven't been sold here in awhile. I am a fan of the German made guns. They just seem to have a better fit and finish. As far as the pistol, to me it sounds used or was used as a salemans or test gun for the purpose of sales. If you have ever seen a CPO SIG certified pre-owned they look brand new. What box store had this pistol? Most just carry the polymer framed SIGs. BTW there are two compact 45 that are smaller, the 245 and the 220 compact. Magiccarpetrides on here carries a 245 and swears by it. I carry a standard 220 with factory slim grips. I own a lot of .45's but I feel you can't go wrong with a 220. They are very accurate and great pistol with a huge following. It is more reliable than any 1911 I own. Mine only choke on Remington match 185's wad cutters which are set up for a Bullseye Competition 1911.

I'm, in agreement. Our Ak47 ???? Now get back under that bridge with your goat.

Good morning. What is a SK-47? A little bit more info might help. Plus, welcome to TGO

That's the ticket. Looks great. We just typed a statement. Sometimes one paragraph. I know SSG Giantpouge. Served with him in the DFAC. Are you sure you're not a 42A? Thanks for the morning laugh!

The Single Six is not scarce. They are available online. Most dealers don't stock them because they sit a long time due to pricing. Since the Heritage Rough Rider (SA 22/22Mag) was introduce at roughly half the price it has cut into this market. They do offer a steel frame but most are cast with a alloy frame. They are no where near the quality of a Ruger. A swing gate SA revolver only has an appeal to a set crowd. I grew up shooting them. My Son thinks they are a hassle, awkward to load, bad grip angle and just not that accurate in .22 LR.(22 MAG works better in this pistol to me). He is 12 years old and loves the P22 due to being tacti-cool. I think sales of this pistol are age generated or you grew up shooting one. I have also been interested in a 7.62X39 build. Most of this has seemed to be plagued by magazine issues. My understanding is ASC magazines have solve this issue. In the beginning it was the bolt which was resolved sometime back. Armalite, Yankee Hill and Olympic and BCM are or have offered rifles or uppers in this round. Bushmaster, DPMS have for a long time. My issue is the price. There are some getting into the 7.62X51 realm of pricing. I still wanting to do one, just waiting on a good deal on a upper. It is on the back burner due to other projects. BTW I have a few AK's already and a AR15 in 5.45X39 Russian. If you want to do some reading go to M4Carbine.net. AR15.com has a lot on it if you can sift through the BS.

As stated above. On letter head with your name and rank, statement stating 4 hour or better of classroom training and what type of pistol. What you shot, Expert, Sharpshooter or Marksman. I have signed them as 1SG. I have signed them for the Company Commander. I have even had my Training NCO sign them. Make sure you have you ID card and you should be good to go. Going in uniform helps for some reason. At least it has for me.

My wife just called me to say she heard on the news that the LSU team is still stuck in New Orleans. "They are afraid to cross the 50 yard line. "

One thing about the PSA lowers you need to remember is it come out to around $87 with shipping, transfer fee and TCIS check. I own both a S&W and a PSA. They are both excellent rifles for the money. I am currently finishing up a Sabre Defense build and tricking it out. My S&W is in a 5.45 Russian and is a blast to shoot. Even with surplus it shoots as well as my 5.56 AR's with standard ammo. The Rock River AR from Joe Bob's in a hell of a deal for a AR with all the adds. I don't want to look that add any more because of temptation. I don't need another 5.56. LOL Be careful because they are addictive.

I have the same Rossi in 18" Barrel. I had left it is the closet while deployed and came home to a pitted barrel. I had Sam Hoster in Gallatin polish it out and re blue the barrel and it came out perfect. It was around $125.00. I have seen one refinished in a matted blue and my Brother had one parkerized. They both looked good and different. Even though I had mine re blued a few years ago it is showing some browning under the handguard. It is always in that gap between the barrel's that it starts . I believe it is from where they sweat-ed the two barrels together and it does not take finishing well due to the solder. I've had mine so many years I can't even remember when I got it. It is one that I will pass down. BTW I have had good luck with a green pad (3M) and oil. Some state oil and fine steel wool(Can leave swirls). But the best I have used is a product called Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner. It removes surface rust in one pass. It is hard to find. But is available on line.

Very nice. I have the same model in a blued finished with the limited edition wood grips. I just don't shoot it enough. Might have to post mine up for sale soon. Nice score!!
