I like my 30 year old 700. I feel they were better made than now. But my best friends Savage (.308) with the accu-trigger is nice. I know enough to tell you to stay away from the Savage Axis. I do see a lot of used Savages at what seems good prices this time of year. I might just pick one up to see for my self personally.   Over the years it seems I have sold off most of my American Company made hunting rifles in favor of Sako, CZ and the odd Parker Hale or Weatherby.

  Even though I have plenty of ammo. I went and bought a air rifle and pistol since this has started. I'm really getting into it. It reminds me a lot of growing up with the exception of trying to squeeze every ounce of accuracy out of them. LOL

I have changed it regular in my wifes Kia every 30K because it calls for it. Other than that I follow what is in the Owners manual for frequent milage.

I went with a good size fiber optic front sight and have had good luck with them. Especially with the green VS the red. The Truglo TFO' s are becoming some of my favorites.

Another option is a 1 in 8 twist. I have one with a wylde chamber. I picked it up at a good price from Palmetto State Armory if you keep you eyes open over there. This was way before the current craziness. I have owned a few uppers from PSA and they were all great. Rock river makes a nice varmit upper too. That being said after looking at the Model 1 site there are some decent prices.

Nice project. I have Contenders and though about this. My Buddy in South Georgia has had a 300 BLK on his Contender for hog hunting. He told me he is getting mixed results with proper expansion out of a 10" barrel. I haven't spoke with him lately. I have a 30-30 barrel and love it. I have not tried to load it up or down.   I also have always wanted a Striker in .308. I passed a year ago on one in 6mmBR. Keep us posted.

Gunbroker is still asking 750-900 but they are not selling. Same for the PAP M92.  The ones selling (very few) are between 600-680. I have been watching for months. I saw a Arsenal Pistol sell for $780.. I'm going to look at a M92 next week for $650 out the door. Pre panic both were around the $500.00 mark.   Go to the advance search on Gunbroker. Hit the tab completed items. Adjust the time left option to greater than. This will show you the most recent prices they sold for.

If your refering to the SK .22 "Magazine" ammo in a can you will be happy. It has been markeedt around the world but is new here. i found out about it on the Australian shooting sites.

I just left Dicks in MT Juliet. They had probably 150 boxes of Independence 5.56 for $9.99 a box. I didn't get any. I'm sitting good already.

I guess I'm the odd man out. I held a lightly used one at D&T and it rattled worse than a hooker's knees in church. I was not at all impressed with the pistol. The trigger was bad and the fit was poor. I might want to have a look at a new one to change my mind. I have owned quite a few 1911's and still do. i want to like this pistol. It was over a year ago.

I have a TRISTAR tactical auto and it is a great gun for the money.

I was at the Nashville Armory today and the were stocked full of firearms. No cheap ammo except for their range use. The firearms I looked at were reasonable in price.
