  1. Yep! Thats my choice. Ofcourse I do like Guns & Weapons for Law Enforcement
  2. Sounds like you had a good plan and stuck to it! Thanks for posting because it reminds me to re-check my plan and make sure my family is still on the same page. I've seen pressure changes outside cause interior doors to open. Its a little unnerving when it happens. Can't advise on how to get some sleep after that. Sometimes I'd come home from working mids, go in the third bedroom where I kept my uniform, get changed and then end up sitting in the living room for the next 3 hours all jazzed up from adrenaline......
  3. Man I stay pumped up for turkey season! Unfortunately all I can do right now is sit in my living room driving the neighbors crazy with my slate call Hope everyone has good luck and gets a new state record bird!
  4. Reminds me of when Sgt. Hulka got blown up in the movie "Stripes"....
  5. Mr. Stegall summed it up pretty well. I'd imagine that your level of intoxication at the time of the shoot is going to be 1 small detail in the big picture. If you are sued the plaintiff attorney is going to dig deeper. They are going to look at your level of training, how much experience you have with firearms and the firearm you used, do you have any speciialized training (retired Navy SEAL or ninja?), any customizations to the firearm, and so on. IMO the schools teaching the HCP classes should never document a score for the range part- it should only be PASS/FAIL. As far as criminal charges- I would hope that the prosecutor would have half a brain and not file charges. As for me- someone busts is my door and they are going to the morgue.. I'm positive I'll be able to articulate the circumstances....
  6. Thanks for clearing that up. My grad school Poli Sci profs were not too clear on the process....
  7. I like the show and don't mind how the boss is portrayed. I will agree that it does get old seeing people bring in some nice tripod mounted belt fed machine gun and want it turned into a shoulder fired weapon in 3 days. I think the anti-pirate rockets made from paper towel tubes and the dual M-16 for the Brown Water Navy was a little ridiculous... Yall have to agree the show beats watching the Real Housewives of New York/Miami/Atlanta/OC
  8. I think the House & Senate should spend their time on more important things than this. It's simply ridiculous. I have no problem with a Fed doing their job. I know little of the structure of TN law enforcement. I was a LEO back in my home state of Florida. In FL there are 67 Sheriffs, all of whom are Constitutional officers. They are the supreme LE in the county. All city and state LE operate under the authority of the Sheriff. When I was a Deputy I had the authority to tell any other LEO to leave a call, accident or whatever. I never did and never heard of anyone doing it. After I left the SO and became a state investigator I never had a Deputy tell me what to do. I respect Feds cause I have served side by side with a lot of them and would kick a door in with them anytime.
  9. DING DING We have a winner! Now if they could only put Sons of Guns in a show with This Old House I would be set! They could call it "This Old Son of a Gun"....
  10. I like the show because I like guns. I bet that the owner is really not as bad as he seems on tv. It's the way the show is edited, wouldn't make good tv if he was always a *****cat. I can also see where he might be a little tough on his employees. In the end it is his business name on the product and not his gunsmith's.
  11. I'm building an AR only because I found an awesome deal on a Noveske upper/lower matched set. I'm using a Daniel Defense lower parts kit and will probably use their barrel and handguard. If I had the cash I'd buy as many Daniel Defense rifles as I could. Ofcourse, don't let my wife read this post!
  12. That's awesome! I hope to one day set my girls up on a bird like that.
  13. We live in Collierville and it's okay. We chose it for the schools and small town feel. Having said that, if we were to do it all over we would look more at Fayette County. We are at a point now where we have to decide if we are gonna stay in TN or move. If we stay it will be moving to Fayette CO. For what it's worth- we are originally from FL & I was a LEO there. I worked out of several duty stations with one of those being Miami. My wife and I agree we both felt 100 times safer in Miami than ANYWHERE in Shelby CO.
  14. I think we can all agree on the following: 1) chambered/ not chambered- pick one and stick with it 2) train, train, train- be prepared for the fight 3) as the great Charlie Sheen says, "winning". Win the fight, whatever it takes
  15. Agency policy required us to carry the shotgun with no round in the chamber. I don't know the logic behind it, never asked. When we went to the range to qualify the command was to rack the slide, take off safety and fire. Well, after all these years that is the way I keep my shotgun in my house. In times of stress we revert back to our training and I don't want to find myself dumping a round out on the floor. IMO, racking the slide is the least thing to worry about giving your position away. People do weird things in these situations (turning on all lights in the house, yelling at the wife to get back upstairs, slamming bedroom doors, calling out "who's there?", etc.) Besides, in the dark is the bad guy gonna know your exact position just by hearing a sound? Nope- its gonna take him a second to process the sound....
  16. I'm glad he cleared up "this is the top and this is the bottom" for me... I wasn't too clear on that. Now I'm off to check the spirals in my pipe to make sure my bullets don't go everywhere...
  17. Hello all. I'm a native Floridian currently living in Collierville. I'm former LEO (Deputy Sheriff & State Inv.) and certified LEO Firearms & Driving Instructor. I look forward to reading your posts and contributing myself. Stay safe!
